    I'm having second thoughts...

I haven't been sleeved yet but from what I read, you are going to feel so good as you continue to lose weight and your new, healthy body will far outweigh any problems you're going through now! It will get easier, I think and you'll be healthier and happier! You can do it!

    Look at my tracker!! hehe

Thank you so much for posting this. I've been having doubts even though I haven't even scheduled my surgery yet. Is it worth it? Will I regret it? Will the rewards outweigh having this permanent surgery? Your post was just what I needed and I'm so happy for you; congratulations on all of your success and keep loving yourself.

    Being fat and dating

Thanks so much for the replies! Yes, I have often thought that there are plenty of fat people who date and that is why I am starting to think it might be something to do with me! I probably do sometimes give a "back off" signal as I'm pretty sensitive and have just dealt with a lot of rejection so kind of put up a wall, especially around people I'm attracted to. But generally, I really am pretty friendly and at least seem confident. I've tried eHarmony and match.com, both with no success! Seriously, I write to just about every match I get and no one writes back. I promise, my profile isn't sketchy or anything and I do have pretty good pictures up there. It's just hard not to take it personally as I know there are plenty of big women who meet great guys; I guess I really do blame it on my weight and just think no one will find me attractive. But I'm still trying to be hopeful.

    One month out pics

Wow! I can definitely see a difference; you guys are looking great! Way to go!
  5. I have always heard that you want a surgeon who has done at least a THOUSAND of the procedure you are going for. I know that seems like a lot, but an experienced surgeon will have no problem getting this number under his belt and you really, really want to be with someone who knows what he's doing, backwards and forwards. Like previous posters said, it seems there's a lot of finesse involved in the sleeve and you want to stay safe and have good results! I'd be sure you feel completely comfortable with the experience of your surgeon; you deserve it!
  6. If you're not deluged with requests yet, I'd also love a copy! vrairoudoudou@gmail.com Thank you! Ann
  7. Completely agree! When I lived in France, my doctor had me on a diet that included full-fat plain yogurt. While at first I found it sooooooo sour, I soon learned to love it. So refreshing and satisfying. The French often eat it for dessert! I used to eat the single-serve plain Activa yogurts over there; I wish they'd sell more plain single-serve yogurt here, instead of that icky flavored stuff (which was also what I used to eat all the time!). The plain stuff is so good and can feel almost decadent.
  8. Hi, everyone and happy Friday! Like many on here I imagine, I have an unhealthy love affair with food. I'm working on getting control and getting healthier before I decide to have surgery, but I wonder how my feelings will change towards food post-sleeve. Since the amount one can eat is so reduced, has it been your experience that you feel deprived? For example, if you have a piece of delicious pizza, but can only eat a few bites, do you sit there craving the rest of it and wishing you could eat it or do you feel full and satisfied? I know my eating will change forever after the sleeve and I'm wondering how feelings of satiety and satisfaction come into play. I hate feeling deprived of everything I like and would love to just eat healthy, small portions but still feel like I can enjoy food. I hope this makes sense and I would greatly appreciate your insights!

    drain pain

When I had my gall bladder removed, I had a drain and it hurt so bad when they took it out. Serious pain; I have a pretty high threshold and I was hollering as they pulled it out! I was told it's because scar tissue actually starts to form around the drain while it's in you, so that is being pulled when it's removed. I think it's perfectly normal to have experienced pain; the nurses told me to expect it. However, I didn't have any pain a few moments later, only as they were removing it, so if you're still experiencing pain, I'd check with your doctor. All the best in your recovery!

    Bingeing and the sleeve

Hi, everyone! My name's Ann. I'm from Seattle, Washington and am brand-new here. I'd always thought I'd go the route of the band and never even considered the vertical sleeve until I read about people's poor experiences with the band and their decision to have a revision. So, now I'm leaning toward the sleeve. Anyway, I struggle big-time with bingeing and am wondering how being sleeved will help this. I am working with a therapist on overcoming my bingeing behavior and she's recommended not getting surgery until I can go at least 6 months without a binge. This seems next to impossible right now, but I am working at changing my behavior as I really want to be successful. My question: how likely are you to binge once you are sleeved? I understand the size of the stomach will be dramatically reduced, but is it possible to "push through" the discomfort and still binge? Will my cravings be too strong and I'll binge anyway? I'd really appreciate any thoughts/advice on this. I recognize it is a rather personal topic so please feel free to PM me if you'd like. Thanks and I'm glad to be here! Ann

    Bingeing and the sleeve

Hi, again, everyone. Just to be clear, I wasn't suggesting that the sleeve would be a magic bullet and that I wouldn't have to worry about bingeing anymore. I fully intend to work on that before I get surgery. But I also know that I'm fallible, and if I do have the urge to binge after surgery, I wanted to know the likelihood of that even being possible. Thanks again for the responses!

    Bingeing and the sleeve

Thank you very much for the responses thus far! And please keep them coming; all the feedback is really helpful. I'm so glad to have found this forum! I'm very excited about the prospect of surgery but my own issues with food are definitely still there and I want to work on those BEFORE I have surgery. It's good to know that having the sleeve might really help with my binges. Now just to get my own head around them. Thanks again!
