    Post-IV Thrombosis

They started tem as soon as I got out of surgery.
  2. I developed Thrombosis in my left arm while I was in the hospital after surgery from 4/11-4/13. So note to everyone, if they are inserting meds into your IV and it is extremely painful aside from the normal burning sensation make them move the IV. They kept saying you will only be here 1 more day do you really want to move it. At the time I told them no I would deal with the pain, but had I known about Thrombosis then I would have made them move it. It causes hot spots on your arm you can see blood vessel's like they are bruised and you have inflammation, swelling and pain. Thrombosis: is the formation of a blood clot inside a blood vessel, obstructing the flow of blood through the circulatory system. Other then that mostly off pain meds but still take them now and then if it gets bad. I am down 21lbs since my pre-op diet that started 3/29 and off all medications including my Nexium and everything I was taking pre-surgery with the exception of the occasional liquid pain meds they game me. Got the clearance from my doctor today that I can go on pureed foods now YEAH! Other then that she said everything looks great and I can return to work on 4/25. I do notice I start getting a lot of pain if I have be in a sitting position at the computer for any length of time which she advised that in a siting position you are using your AB muscles a lot and can be the cause of pain if you are sitting for any length of time. I wish all of you that recently had surgery a very speedy recovery and those that are getting ready to have it a big congratulations and I wish you the best in your journey.

    Hotdog and pickles??

I just want a chili dog really bad
  4. I know how you feel. I am only 1 1/2 weeks out as well and am finding it very hard to get my food and Protein in even though I am on mushies. I know exactly what you mean about smells. I cannot wait to get to regular food. I did try oatmeal today and it seems to be doing OK.
  5. I can't be in a sitting position for too many hours or I start to hurt. I am having a really really hard time getting in all my protein. I am a little low on fluids but not by much. I am more worried about not being able to eat enough.

  6. ABy the 2nd day I was in the hospital it started hurting really bad when they adding medications through the port in the IV. They said I was just going to be there one more day did I really want to move it. At the time I didn't know this could happen or I would have insisted. Other then that not too many probelms.

  7. My total calories are 45 but I am getting very low calories and having a hard times eating so for me it has not been an issue. I am just happy it helps to make me take them. So if you are having a hard time it is at least something you can try because they taste great and I want to take them every day as my treat.

    Post-IV Thrombosis

Thank you for the information. They were giving me Heparin shots during my stay while I was in the hospital.
  9. Good some days icky others. Just started purred yesterday. Learning I need to take it slow and easy. Trying a few recipies from Eggface today. I go back to work on Monday. Don't know if you saw my post but got Thrombosis in the hospital from lazy nurses. Other then that not too bad just taking occasional pain meds.

  10. I am sooo glad I found Gummy Vitafusion Vitamins they taste just like cany no aftertaste what so ever. I am happy to take them everyday because it's pretty much the best thing I get to taste. I even got my husband taking them because they are so yummy. You can find them in a variety of types. I have D3, Multivitamin, Calcium and Fiber. Will be looking for B12 here soon as well. You really must give them a try since they are like getting a treat. I got mine at CVS and Target.
  11. Oh, Goofyspice, I am so sorry to hear about the pain you are in. I got hit pretty hard with pain yesterday but had been doing pretty good up to that point. Plus, I developed Thrombosis in my left arm. Other then that mostly off pain meds but still take them now and then if it gets bad. And Jen Jen, I hope you are feeling better soon. I am happy to see people posting complications because people should know this is not a walk in the park. I do feel terribly bad for the people that are having complications though.

    Chicken Broth

I am not much of a cook my hubby usually does that but he works nights and I work days. But I am on the 3rd day of my pre-op diet (it is rough) and I am trying to eat some chicken broth and it just isn't tasting that good. Added some pepper, but not helping enough. Any other secrets. My pre-op is basically 4 protein drinks a day, and Broth, SF Jello, Popsicles 2 servings of fruit a day. Not much to work with when you still have a full appetite. But 5 pounds down in 2.5 days. Please help, 2 weeks of this is gonna be awful. Thank God I at least have the Chocolate Amp 60 from GNC, that is awesome especially with some SF Torani Raspberry.
  13. I have been home since Wednesday. Still taking it kind of slow now and then with some pain. Can't wait till I can have other foods

I also was sleeved monday. Having a little more pain then I would like but hanging in there. I tried my protein shake today and that did not go well I think I found what the term sliming is an that, was only about 2oz so I am not getting much protein in at all an just getting in tiny sips.
  15. Wheew, surgery went great. Finally woke up about 1:00 but have been drifting in and out all day. Just finished my late night stroll under the hospital lights an challenged one nurses into a race but she didn't bite. I know I could have won IV machine and all. Just having pain in my mid stomach and all the way around to my back but other then that not bad. These hospital rooms are so nice here I would rate them up there with a nice hotel. Best of all no one is next to me so woot! I am dying of thirst though. I have never missed Water so much. Other then that things are great so far.
  16. Surgery went great! Just got done with my late night stroll under the hospital lights.

  17. So I was curious what exactly the procedure will be like and I ran across this video on Youtube with great video and sound with the whole procedure explained in detail. I would not watch it is you are on the fence or are squeamish. I just happened to find it very interesting and wanted to share for those that would like to see as well.
  18. I am right here with you guys wishing you the very best for your surgery day. I am so excited, it is only 6:30 here and I want go get my scrub down done and go to bed now just so I can sleep thought the rest of the wait time LOL. I am starving though, no food, not even Protein was allowed today. Nothing except clears at all today, ugh tummy is grumbley. Best of luck though to all of us and make sure you post back when you can. We have Wifi in our hospital room so I will try to post as soon as I can. Yeah, Losers bench here we come!

    April 2011 Sleevers

Yeah, getting sleeved tomorrow, can't wait!
  20. I just found out I can extend my Bliss coverage for $52 to cover certain things for 18 months. I jumped right on that.
  21. I was going to ask today and I forgot. So I am not sure what size they are using. I can't believe how fast all of this has gone.
  22. There are actully several of us from KC on here. Here is a thread that was started if you haven't see it yet. http://www.verticals...in-kansas-city/ I am scheduled with Mally & New Hope on April 11th. Good luck to everyone on here, I know I can't wait.
  23. So, I had my Pre-Op appt yesterday at Menorah. It looks like a great, clean hospital with friendly people and they have WI-Fi in the rooms, YIPPEE! That is great for a computer tech addicted to the Internet girl like me. Today I went for my Pre-Op appt at Mally with Dr. Fearing. While it was a wallet shock to dish-out the $16,500 today I did find out some good news. Part of the pre-pay covers Bliss insurance for 90 days incase anything bad were to hapen, although I pray it does not. I am not sure if my medical insurance would have picked up any of the costs since i was not able to be approved through them since I was under a 40 BMI so it is nice to know I am covered with Bliss for the 90 days. Anyway, I was given a thumbs up for my surgery on Monday so another YIPPEE!!! I am so ready for this. Went an bought me a light weight robe and some slippers tonight for the hospital so I am good to go. Plus I picked up some Biotene Moisturizing Mouth Spray and after reading a lot of posts about dry mouth, I am hoping it will help with that. I have everything else I need so I am so ready! So long story short if you are in the Greater Kansas City area thinking about surgery and are self-pay look into your options and make sure they have things like Bliss to cover you.

    April 2011 Sleevers

OK my April 11th friends, we have just a little over a week left... Makes me was to break out in song! To the tune of..... I'm So Excited I'm so excited and I just can't hide it I'm about to lose control and I think I like it I'm so excited and I just can't hide it Seriously, I am very excited, no second thoughts even though my Hubby was saying "Are you sure you want to do this?" when he realized I won't be able to go out to eat for a long time which is our favorite thing to do. I am just curious how mu stomach is going to come out in all of this. I had a Tummy Tuck 3 years ago and they tighten your stomach muscles. I got rid of the "Over hang" but since the 3 years the top part is bulging. I hope the tightening stayed. Only real concerns I have is my thighs have gotten big and harbor tons of cellulite. I am really concerned how they will come out in all of this. I have read a lot of the journeys on this forum and the people that say they are pain free or greatly reduced pain are the true inspiration for my journey. I live with a lot of pain on a daily basis and to be able to wake up for even a few days pain free at any given time is going to be a God Send!
