    Protein Ponderings

According to my NUT, eating Protein has several benefits. It keeps you feeling fuller for longer, helps you eat less calories, and helps to ensure that you maintain your muscle mass as you loss weight.
  2. For the past few months, I've needed some new athletic shoes. I have only one pair, and they are probably 4 years old. The past few times I've had to wear them for an extended period, my feet were very sore. So I decided today to go grab a new pair. Now, I've been a size 9 wide since jr. High, but for some reason (impulse/instinct) I decided to size myself today. Not only am I NOT a wide anymore, I went down a full size to an 8! I couldn't believe it when I tried them on. I'm only a little over 2 weeks out (had surgery 1/3/2011) and it's hard to believe that I changed that drastically. I tried on my old ones when I got back home, and realized that they must have been rubbing and sliding, which was probably causing the pain. When I started saving for new clothes, I never thought about the fact that I might need a whole new shoe wardrobe too!
  3. Yay for getting to eat real food! Just wondering. how come pureed is worse than full liquid?
  4. Hey All! I'm 11 days post op, and doing well. I'm just wondering about your guys experience with the 2 week phone appointment with the nutrionist. Mine isn't scheduled until next Thursday, and I'm going crazy on this full liquid diet. I'm soooo ready for something different, like some pureed soup or tuna! I'm tired of sweets stuff, I don't know if I'll want yogurt so a long, long time! Happy Friday
  5. 11 days post-op and going back to work today! Nope, not crazy. Just broke, lol

  6. Lisa, I had the same burning feeling, and today, one week out, it feels much better.

    January 2011 Sleevers

I was sleeved January 3rd at Kaiser, have had no problems, am up and driving, off of any pain meds, and already down 11.4lbs since the day of surgery! This was the best desicion I could have made, and I'm feeling great
  8. I've used liquid egg whites in smoothies using yogurt, frozen fruit, slenda, and eggs. I only did this pre-op, haven't tried it post-op, but it tasted really good and went down smoothly.
  9. Day 5 post op today, and I managed ALL my vitamins and almost 50ozs of water! Mealtime went well, and I'm feeling great.

  10. Amber, Stacey, you were sooo right! That first shower was amazing! I'm sure it was a mental cleaning too, you know sort of the first hurdle? I managesd to get comfotable on my side last night, not my left like normal, but my right side is way better that my back! So I slept about 6 hours, which was great, and haven't taken much pain medication today. When did you guys stop taking it? I'd like to be done by Monday, so that I can get back to driving m kids to school and not rely on others. So I weighed myself today, and I'm down 7lbs since Monday! Craziness!!, LOL Lisa, hope that everything went well, you should be home today I think? Happy Thursday!!
  11. I'm home, and finally feeling up to chatting a bit. Surgery went well, and I got to go home yesterday morning, I'm in some pain, but its not unbearable. The worst part has been tring to sleep, as I am a side/tummy sleeper. As much as I try, I just can't get comfortable. Liquid has been going down and staying down, and though I'm not quite at 20ozs, I'm doing pretty well. Can't wait until tomorrow, when I am cleared to have my first shower!
  12. Thank you! I'm heading out of the house right now. Soooo nervous, it actually crossed my mind to back out, but I know its just cold feet! I'll keep you guys posted, when i get out. Amber, tell you mom good luck with her recovery!
  13. My big day is tomorrow as well! Good luck to you!
  14. No!, LOL that would have been nice. Who's your mom's surgeon? Maybe he had a cancellation or something?
  15. So Monday is the big day! I don't have to check in until 11, so I get to have the whole morning to freak out, lol. I'm getting a bit nervous. moreso about the surgery itself. Can't wait to just have it all over with.

    Migraine Headaches

I get terrible migraines also, some that land me in the ER for demerol shots. Right now, I take Fiornal at home. I spoke to my surgeon about this, as I was very concerned about not being able to use NSAIDS. She told me that the amount of aspirin in Fiornal is very small, and that the benefit of use outweighed any risk. It works very well for me.
  21. Hopefully this surgery saves your life twice over....please keep us posted
  22. I was scheduled with my case manager on 11/15. Almost 2 weeks away! I went and did my lab work today, and my ekg. Hopefully thats it! Then I will get a date....
  23. OMG OMG OMG!!! I went to the support group in Richmond tonight, and I am 2.7lbs BELOW my pre-op goal weight! I am soooo excited and I can't wait to call tomorrow with the great news! Its looking like Santa might bring me a sleeve for xmas!
