  1. I got sleeved December 14th.

What has been the hardest part so far? Not being able to eat what everyone else is eating. The cravings. Not losing as much as i was hoping. I lost 12 pounds pre-op, and 10-12 post-op depends on the day. I am in a stall right now which is frustrating. And my weight keeps shifting 2-3 pounds.

What has been the best part so far? My friends reactions to my face weight loss & their support.

How is recovery going? It is going fine. I had hardness around a few of the incisions but nothing infected. Most of them seem to be really small and only the big one is really noticeable. Of course to me i see each one. I am trying to stay positive, but i feel down.

  2. Tuttle i too felt regret and i did not even make it to 3 months i made it a few days! Missing the food was really bothering me. I am still in the puree phase but i am planning on going to see a therapist to help deal with the loss of my comfort buddy. 60 pounds is nothing to regret about. You can do it tuttle and as previous posters mentioned depression happens because you essentially removed your comfort. Just remember that you can still eat what you like just less and i agree with egg face!! If you want to chat more feel free. Just know you are not alone. Call your surgeons staff and talk about it. This happens with your hormones changing. You made this decision for a reason focus on that. Being healthier, looking and feeling better. You can do this!! You can overcome this depression!

  3. Hiya Neighbor! I live in ypsi too! :) I can't even imagine all of the tragedy you have been through but i think you are making a good decision for you and for your family. You already did an amazing job losing before to get where you are now. The liquid diet is a pain, but it is helping to shrink your liver and get on the road to weight loss. Go you!!!

  4. Hello! I had my surgery done December 14th, and i lost 12 pounds pre-op, and 8 pounds the first week post op and now i have stalled. I have read that it happens but it is really annoying. My surgeon required me on a liquid diet for 1 month. I feel like i should have lost more than 20 pounds. This is going to sound really lame but so far i have regretted this surgery. I just feel like i should have gotten the RNY but i could not because i take coumadin (blood thinner) and the malabsorption would not have processed it correctly. I started at 238 and now i am down to 218. Who gets stalled the second week? I guess i keep wondering if my pouch expanded or what.. I can eat less then i did before but more then i imagined. People talk about *not being hungry* doesn't happen to me, i get hungry all the time. I just fear that since i started the puree phase that the scale won't move.

My question for you longer sleevers- when is it okay to drink a bit of alcohol? I am not much of a drinker but with new years coming up i was just wondering.

  5. Honey i am nervous and i just started this process. I think it is scary because you are getting surgery which is a big deal, you are having to adapt a new life style. But what you have to remember is that it is all for you. To live a better, happier, healthier, longer life. Plus you are surrounded with support here :) Good luck and i am jealous! I still have a ways to go!

  6. I am only 24 and feel the same way. But i could be how we feel about our bodies before the lap band versus after. Before we are at our wits end with our body and after we have renewed hope. At least that is what i hope i feel when/if i get approved. :/

  7. Your weight and BMI from the start of the process is what will be submitted to your insurance. I worried about the same thing and it was no problem. I lost 12 pounds prior to surgery and it was still approved. My starting BMI was 37 and I was at 35 when my surgeon submitted to my insurance company. You'll do fine. As far as talking to your doctor -- mine actually suggested the surgery option to me and supported my effort to get the surgery. Good luck and don't lose hope. Use the 6 months to get your head together to prepare for what the surgery and life afterwards will be like.

Thanks for responding! Its good to know that it is okay to lose some weight before you lose the surgery. It would be silly to be penalized. Thinking about the 6 months i am feeling that way, getting my head together, and prepared. Plus i can enjoy the summer =) That is great that yours supported your surgery option, i talked to my therapist today and she gave me the pros and cons and tried to see why i wanted it, and at the end she said that it sounded very valid to her, and she is against it.

  8. Hello, I am new just getting started , so far I have been to my Seminar choose a surgeon, just started my 6 month supervised diet. I am so excited. I am on medicare so I hope it will go smoothly.

Good luck! I have so many questions about this i will hopefully start my 6 month journey next week! I am Amber!

  9. Hello!

I am Amber i am 24, and 236 at the doctors office. (depends on the day) my Bmi is 38. When i talked to blue cross they said i had to have the 6 month or be 50 bmi. So question i have is what happens if you lose a bunch of weight on your doctors diet, will you be disqualified from the surgery? That would break my heart. 5 months in and have them be like well sorry Amber you did so good you don't need it now! (i know it sounds twisted) What sort of questions should i ask my doctor, how should i bring it up to her? She is like a size 0. I see her on Monday. How did u all talk to your doctors? Also note i am on blood thinners, though i read that won't be an issue. Anything else i am missing to ask? Help me out?

Thank you all in advance. I can't wait to help someone else out in the future.
