OMG Got A DatE! HELP ME

I wish I had my WLS after my total hysterectomy (stage 7 as well), it would have helped with the 60 lbs I've gained....lol Anyway I did have a thyoidectomy four weeks after my hysterectomy all I can say is move very slowing and suround yourself with many good friends and family you will truly need their help. Also make sure you can get the pain meds that work for you the best in a liquid. Good Luck :thumbup1:
  3. Trouble, I completly understand what you are talking about, once your sleeved your always sleeved. I have not had my surgery yet my insurance made me wait six months I was mad then, but happy now because in the six months I've done more research and spoken to patients after their surgery my fear has gone. I'm now worried about small things like "am I going to remember to sip my water" etc All I can say is don't worry that your scared be more worried if you were not. :001_rolleyes:

    Totally obsessed with WLS

Moni Luv, I'm completly obsessed with having this surgery I can't wait to return to the things I love running, hiking etc. I truly wish you luck in your journey and I hope your not doing this for your husband but for yourself. I had a rocking marriage and after a year of seeing a therpist we are now in a good place I did not want this surgery if in the back of my mind I thought I was doing it for him or to fix our relationship. Its nice starting this journey with my husband with him understanding it's not about him it's about me and getting healthy. Good Luck!!!!
  5. Thank you CWalker you have put my mind at ease.
  6. I have United Health Care for my insurance and I've completed my six month visit with my PCP now I'm working on gathering my five year history. My concern is back in 2005 my nutrionist had me on the PSMF diet program ( Post Modified Fast) I lost a nice amount of weight down to 209 then September 2006 I had a complete histeractomy then started putting weight back on now my BMI is 42. So I'm worried that UHC will say no to my surgery because my BMI was 36 in 2005 and part of 2006. Please let me know if any of you had this same thing happened and if you were approved. PS My surgeon cancelled my surgery date when he found this out,I think I'm going to get bad news :crying: Thanks
  7. I do not have my surgery date yet, but on Sept. 3rd I will say a prayer for you. You can do this just think of the end results
  8. Hello, I have completed my six month visit with my PCP and I'm meeting with my nutrionist on July 21st. Would anyone happen to know how long it will take to get an approval from United Health Care? Also, Has anyone with United Health Care followed all the steps and was denied their surgery? The anticipation is killing me, it took me 4 years to decide to have a VSG and now I'm waiting to see if it will happen.
  9. Hey I'm glad I'm not the only one with doubts, I'm going to Akron General Hospital I just completed my six months of PCP visits per my insurance, not pre-test until I'm approved.

    Another Newbie on Board!

Welcome! Robbie I'm new to the board and It has helped me greatly. Good luck with your surgery, I'm only 3 months into this process.

Should I cancel my surgery? Help!

May I suggest you remember why you decided to have the surgery in the first place, this will help with your decision. My husband supports me and I do not plan on including my family in my decision, when you think about it with self pay you have to wait three months with the surgeon answsering your questions and helping with any concerns. Love your mom, but love yourself first. Good Luck:biggrin0:

    Beginning the journey...

Hey 2muchfluff, I have UHC and I'm just starting my 6 months of supervised weight loss. My doctor she's great she tried to get UHC to approve because she has been helping me with my weight loss for months, only we missed one month last November and it has to be consecutive I think she was more heart broken then me. It's a journey and becoming healthy is our goal. Welcome!:tongue_smilie:

    Looking for support in Ohio

Hello excited2lose, We are a two hour drive away cool (my daughter loves COSI), the reason for my post was to find support close to my area because my friends/family keep telling me to go to another state for my vsg surgery they feel the surgeons in Ohio are inexperienced. How did everything go for you. Have a great day

    Help

I have hunger headaches now and the way my surgeon explained it to me was after the VSG surgery my hunger will be removed so no headaches. Good luck in your search for a new surgeon, I can not belief the response you received after voicing your concerns.
  17. Hello, I just had my first consult with the surgeon I've chosen to due my VSG surgery. He was very encouraging and staff were very kind. I'm still a little scared to have surgery again, but I'm 38 with a 10 year old daughter and I need to set a great example for her. I've been over weight most of my life, I lost 115 lbs when I was 20 yrs old due to a eating disorder, after years of therapy I now have a handle on food for the most part. My story became crazy when I found out while pregnant that I had Thyroid disease I refused to take any medication until my daughter was born it took me six years to get pregnant and I was not taking any chances. After her birth I weighed 315 lbs and my weight loss journey started all over again. After lossing 65lbs the only way I new how not eating I've been stuck between 250-265 for 10 years. So, surviving cancer and a complete hysteratomy I'm ready to take the journey that comes with weight loss surgery. Sorry for the long post I just wanted to provide a summary of where I've been.
