    One week from today

My date is two weeks away Nov. 8th, but so far I've purhased unjury unflavored Protein powder, and Celebrate Multivitamin protein power. For the hospital stay I have slippers and my favorite robe. I have many packets of sugar free Jello and a box of sugar free popsicles. I should have enough of every to take me to my two week post op appt. I hope this helps
  2. Surgery two weeks away OMG! I'm happy and scared already thinking what have I done and I have not had surgery yet...lol

  3. I started this journey with my husband and he has been very supportive during all the doctors visits, nutrionist etc. Now that I have a date this surgery has become more real to me, so I decide to tell my bestfriend, two good friends who are also co-workers. My best friend was very happy for me and she told me she's a little jealous (we both have been trying for over 2 yrs to get sleeved) I know she will give me support through this whole process. My two co-workers a totally different story, one started giving me diet tips and new excercises that I could do to loss the weight then she brought up my weight loss 3 yrs ago and said "if you did it then you can do it again." My second co-worker whom I also consider a friend basically said I was taking the easy way and that hard work makes you feel better about achieveing your weight loss goal. I nicely explained that their OPINIONS were heard but I did not agree with any of it and I will make sure I will keep all of the next steps of my journey to myself. Why are people still in the dark in regards to obesity? Most obese people are not lazy, and they are not looking for a quick fix but a solution to all the other health problems that comes form being obese. Weight Loss surgery is not and will not ever be the easy way out it's a hard journey with healthy you at the end. Thanks for letting me vent, also I'm not loving the new site set up.

Niki, great attitude! I'm sorry BCBS are a bunch of butt heads, but Mexico may be a great option. Just know any decision you make you have support from your sister and this forum. Good LucK

  7. Thank you for the encouraging words, my surgery date is Nov. 8th and my reason for the surgery is the same I loss my thyroid due to thyroid cancer and having a hysterectomy one yr later did not help my weight problems.
  8. I hate this new site set up, but I like the colors

  9. I Finally have a date after two years of fighting with my pcp and my insurance I will be getting sleeved Nov. 8th:lol0::biggrin0::lol0: I'm so excited that this is finally going to happen this time, I'm having my stomach scoped next Friday has anyone had this done if so how did you feel after the procedure?? My surgeon was not happy that I gained weight, I know I can lose the 7lbs before surgery my explanation was working out with my trainer turned fat into muscle it has been 3 months since getting approved by insurance company he said that is no excuse I was so happy to get a date to argue with him. Nov. 8th then I can start my weight loss journey:svengo:

    Nails?

, All my surgeries I did not have to remove the gel from my nails, but I have a gel over lay on my natural nail so when I remove my polish you can see my nail clearly. Maybe as your nail tech to give you a gel overlay prior to surgery or just as your surgeon what is his policy. Good Luck!
  13. Okay, my insurance gave me my an approval August 4th. My surgeon's nurse called me yesterday with a pre-op test date of August 27th and a appt with the surgeon on September 21st. I told the nurse how happy I was because my insurance told me my date will be September 30th. She laughed and explained to me that was a dummy date that placed on everyones UHC paperwork and that I would be lucky to have my WLS at the end of October. I started to cry (yes I'm little emotional) I told her that this was crazy my last PCP appt was July 13th and I gave them all my paperwork for my insurance company on July 16th what happened. Her only explaination was that I should not have followed up with my insurance company and that I should have waited until I received a call from their office and my paper was not sent to my insurance company until July 29th this is why they tell patients it takes 15-20 days for an approval to give them time to set up appts. I shoot back at her saying " so basically you already new a head of time that you were not going to schedule me until October" what a bunch of croc!!! Does anyone one know if I can take my approval to another hospital? or Am I stuck with SLOW POKE GONZALEZ?:svengo::svengo: Thanks if it was not for this site I would have lost my mind a long time ago
  14. I've been working like crazy have not had time to visit the site, congrats I knew you would have surgery this time around I'm so happy for you. How are you feeling, how much weight have you lost? I have had my pre-op testing completed and I have an appt with the surgeon on Septemer 30 to discuss my stomach scope procedure hopfully he can give my a date at that time. Since my job considers this elective surgery my boss made me cancel my September 2nd appt with my surgeon. So basically I've been depressed hating my job and needless to say I've been avoiding my boss as much as possible to stop me from giving her a piece of my mind. Can not wait to see your post-op post on your progress.

new to the site and group

My surgeon explained to me that the sleeve would not cause problems during your pregnancy. The baby will receive everything the baby needs to grow strong. I know one person who had the band and had to have it removed due to complications.
  17. Sorry about the complications I hope you find the help you need to get well soon:crying:
  18. I do not have a date yet...but I understand how you feel I have been going to the gym 3 times a week and I've lost 15lbs now wearing some clothes from the back of my closet....lol The last few days I've been thinking about not doing this and continuing my gym membership...but then I thought about the 89lbs lost in 2005 gained back...65lbs in 2006 gained back....etc Now I've decided to look at the weight loss as a stepping stone to my new life after my sleeve and the new energy as starting my journey the right way. If we did not have doubt we would not be human....:confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1:

clear liquid diet on the road

For my clear liquid diet I made sugar free jello and drank it hot like broth it was really filling, lots of Water and sugar free apple juice mixed with Protein powder. Good Luck on your sugery, I hope this helps:thumbup::confused:
  20. My consultation was at Akron General Hosp. and I first spoke with the surgeon and we talked about my weight history (prior to my appt. they sent me a packet to complete) then I explained why I wanted the sleeve not the RNY. I spoke with his nutrionist, his head nurse and the insurance coordinator in which we discussed if my insurance would cover the sleeve and what was the critieria. So the whole thing was about 4 hrs. I hope this helps.
  21. Jamey, I will have all of my pre-op testing on August 27th starting at 7 am. I'm scheduled to me with my surgeon Sept. 21st hopfully he will have a surgery date for me then. My plan was to talk to him about it at our support group tonight, but I think I will pass.
  22. It would be great to get together, I've not been sleeved still waiting on a date. How are you feeling after one week?
  23. Thanks for the suggestion, I asked and they have no cancellation list. The nurse said, "no one has ever had to cancel a surgery date"
  24. Same here, after my hysteratomy and thyroidectomy (don't know how to spell..lol) I started gaining weight like crazy and was not small to begin with, and every doctor said the same thing you do not need WLS surgery diet and excercise....lol It took me 5 yrs to find a doc. that understood this was my only option to get healthy. I don't want to be a super model, I just want my needs to stop hurting and to throw away my cpap machine....wearing a size 10 would be nice...lol It sounds like you have been working just as hard as I have to start this journey and it will happen for the both of us I can not wait to see your post "I have a date"

  25. No surgery date yet, my appt. for pre op testing is August 27th and my appt. with the surgeon will be September 21st sooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! It looks like I will not have surgery until my B-Day October 29th. My hope was to be thin by then, you can't have everything. Let me know when you get your date, that sounds so good finally a date.
