    Dear Reese's Pieces..I hate you..

Peanut Butter is a must have for me...i've missed it a lot over the last few months...I can't wait until I get tot he point where I can enjoy it again. I used to sit with a jar of PB and just eat it with a spoon. Have since I was a little kid

    Your Lap-Band and Dating....

This totally cracked me up...I look forward to these issues...but I also see plastic surgery in my future. Not for a long time yet, but if I'm going to put all this effort into losing the weight, I'm having the extra skin removed and if the boobs look as saggy as some have said they do, I'll have them reinflated! PS Jackie, I had my surgery at the same location you did, hope to meet you at a support group meeting some week.
  4. For me, lap band was a better option because it''s more natural. Slower, healthier weight loss and less chances of side affects like dumping (getting sick from sugar or other certain foods). As a side note, the lap band does not make you sick if you eat the wrong choices of foods or even if you eat too much, it can be VERY uncomfortable and you might regurgitate some of what you ate, but it's not actually getting sick. It is a much slower process typically, but there are many great success stories on here of people losing incrediable amounts of weight and keeping it off. I hope to be one of them one day. Best of luck to you and keep these forums handy, they have been very helpful and supportive for me

New Banded and was starving day 6

I am now 4 weeks post op and at just about day 5 or 6 I started feeling hunger. It gets better I promise. The first few weeks were tough. I just ate small amounts every 2 or 3 hours instead of concentrating on just eating 3 times a day - this helped me a lot. Now that I'm on "regular" food, 3 times a day is much easier. As for the bite of burger, as long as it was small bite and you chewed it really well you didn't do any harm. I did that a few times as well and my NUT told me it was ok, as long at it was just one bite and chew, chew, chew...Best of luck to you.

    Unjury Protein Powder? anyone??

I have tried most of the Unjury powders. This one is my least favorite, but like Dave said, it's not bad. I think it has a very salty taste (I am not a big salt eater, even before surgery) to me. My favorite is the vanilla one, but the chocolate and strawberry ones are good too. The unflavored one is great, I added it to all kinds of things when I needed a protein boost. Now that I'm on "normal" foods, I don't have a hard time getting my protein in.

    I DIDN'T DO IT

Wow...she was a trip...glad I didn't see any of that ealier, I was ready to beat her up side the head
  12. I am from the US. I am from just outside Portland, ME. The very northeast portion of the US. As for my geek credentials...I am a mmorpg gamer (mostly reformed, I've made the commitment to get healthier so actually shut all my accounts down), very avid member of the SCA (see my signature for a link for explaination if you care to), live and breath to learn anything new, love to cook and bake and read some anime/comics and play strategy games regularly So not too bad
  13. I love, love, LOVE this show!!! I DVR it every week (my busy life usually doesn't allow me to watch is "real time"). But I'm a bit of a geek myself (not nearly as intelligent or bad as the characters) and can so relate to many of the situations

    Vegetarian banders

I don't believe she meant it was too late for the OP to become a vegetarian...I believe she was referring to the time of day - it was approx 2 am according to the post time.

Aetna NAP success with the 3 month plan

I have Aetna and haven't had any trouble at all. Matter of fact they were great. But my BMI was well over the 40 (and has been for 15+ years) and I had several comorbidities, which have cost them a bit of money recently Good luck to you!!

    Morning Excersize

When I can drag my sorry behind out of bed that early (I have to get up at 420am to use the treadmill before work) I just jump out of bed, stretch a little and get on the treadmill and then go about my normal routine. I'm only successful about 1 or 2 times a week, but make sure I do afternoon/evening treks to make up for missing the morning workouts.

    A little confused?

It is my understanding that you are shrinking your liver of fat. So it is the overall weight loss that will be effective. However you get there safely, is up to each surgeon.

Getting banded on Friday 4 March 2011

I was banded on this day too How are you doing so far? I'm not losing much yet, but will be after I get my first fill I think. I have a little restriction, but not much. My hardest part is waiting the hour after eating to drink again...I feel like a parched jogger through the sahara...it's in my head I think, but it's one of my hardest things. My other is remembering to take little bites and chew, chew, chew....I hope it will come with practice! Best of luck to everyone.

    Tax deductible

So I just read an article that indicated that weight loss tools (including lapband surgery) are tax deductible as long as they are medically necessary for obesity and/or other medical issues...I'm pretty excited about that! Just thought I would share in case anyone else didn't know.

For the singles here... Just do this..

Hi, I'm a 33 year old, single female living in southern Maine. Just banded on 3/4/2011. Looking for friends or more, not sure really. I've been on a self imposed dating hiatus for a few years to focus on myself and get myself into a better position after a few bad attempts at dating post divorce. Please feel free to PM me if you're interested.

    Date has been set

    Congratulations!!
  23. Welcome and best of luck...I am almost 3 weeks post op, and it took me 8.5 months to get to the banding point. Fricking system! But seriously, good for you for making the decision and good luck! I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you!

    WHAT PROTIEN DO YOU LIKE?

I use the EAS AdvantEDGE shakes. I only do the premade ones, cause it's SO much easier, but I like them. 2 different chocolate flavors, vanilla and strawberry are available.
