    A Lot To Lose!

From my highest weight I had 249 pounds to lose, as of my sugery date (3/4/2011) I have 160 pounds to lose. We are all in this together. Keep your chin up. There are many success stories on these forums and I am going to be one of them. I will not accept less And neither should you.

Gosh I hope not. I'm the same age and single as well. I hope we both get to date again - and soon Best of luck to you.

    Does everybody do this?

My surgeon requests 30 mins prior to meals, no drinking during or for 1 hour after meals, to take very small bites and to take 20-30 mins to finish a small meal. Other than that no restrictions (outside of the normal chew, chew, chew and healthy choices). Good luck. That sounds torturous to me.

lady_dragyn checking in - down another pound to 275 -1 for the week.
  8. It was 3 or 4 days for me as well. However I did need to use miralax to help out because it was becoming painful for me. So when you feel the need if it's painful then ask your doc about something like that. Good luck!

    are you kidding me????

I love this place. I don't really have a lot to say often, but I come here at least 3 or 4 times a week just to gaze at what others are posting and I have learned so much about this journey, what to expect and how to avoid bad things. I have a long ways to go and this is a long, hard struggle for me everyday, but just having "friends" out there going through the same things as me is huge. I have a few friends who know what I'm doing and my family who are all great supporters, but none of them have the band, so to have the connection to those who are also experiencing the same things I am. It's indescribable So best of luck to you sir and also a great big thanks to everyone here as well.

    May Challenge

Lady_Dragyn checking in. Down 1.0 to 279 - not as good as I would have liked, but considering I sat on my lazy duff and ate a few bad choices (did I mention this was going to be an emotionally draining month for me?) I'll take it
  14. Lady_Dragyn

    I still find it surreal...

Other than about a week post op I ended up popping a stitch (and that hurt like crazy) I had no pain. I had some medium discomfort when trying to get up or down from a chair the first few days post op I had nothing. No gas pain etc (I'm very lucky) and I was pleasantly surprised I did have a little emotional trouble for a few weeks with having this "thing" inside of me, but with some positive thoughts, naming him (George if you care to know) and coming to terms with it, it's been awesome!

  16. I have Aetna and have several comorbidities and a bmi over 40 and got approved through Aetna the first time through. But I researched it a lot prior to going, which included going to their website and talking with their reps to see what they required to consider/approve the surgery. My doctor's office is also fantastic at making sure everything is done just so to help "gaurantee" an approval. Best of luck to you both!

    The Gurgles

I gurgle a lot too. It's a good thing the gentleman who sits near me at work is hard of hearing...lol
  20. I have aetna and I do believe with a bmi over 40 you should qualify. I had many comorbidities, so it wasn't an issue for me, but definately recheck the requirements Good luck to you.

    How Many Guys Getting Banded?

I am not a man, but I can tell you from my surgeon's support groups (at least in my area) that it's about a 80/20 split. It was a very pleasant surprise to have the support and view point from both sexes. Good luck to you all
  22. I lost 12lbs total on my preop diet - Mine was generous though and was not a complete liquid diet, I was allowed one 300 cal or less tv dinner per day and then 2 protien shakes and then all the veggies I could eat

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

I'm still kicking too. Looks like we are all doing very well. I'm pretty happy with the process/progress so far. NSV this week, I'm comfortably in size 24 bottoms and 26/28 tops. Down from 28 bottoms and 30/32 tops. I will be honest in saying that these sizes were a little loose, but that's how I preferred my clothes and I definately didn't fit into the 26's! I'm pretty damned excited by this actually As for the flying thing, I have had to wear an extention for years (I travel a lot for work) and look forward to the day when I don't have to ask for one and to be able to sit comfortably in the seat and not have someone upset that they have to sit next to me (which as horrible as it sounds, I can understand. Those damned seats are pretty uncomfortable to begin with, but toss in a large woman beside you who is spiling over into your space and it's just damned unacceptable ) and being able to actually sit there and use the drop down table and possibly even my laptop etc. So anyway! I hope we all continue to do great and keep your chins up guys. We will all have set backs from time to time, but just remember to just take a step back and try again! This is a life long journey that includes a lot of learning and trial and error! No matter how much research or teaching/classes we went through, nothing can or could fully prepare us for what we have embarked on!
