    I gained a pound

I'm the same---April 8th and just 20 lbs. I had to add SALT to get my bp up to where I feel better and gained a couple of pounds. Seeing my dr. today to get this under control. I think it's going to be get more protein in, a tiny bit of sodium, and let things just adjust themselves.

    Meatloaf considered mushy food?

Make ground turkey meatloaf and it's great!

    Pain VS.Nausea

I had almost NO gas pain, took pain stuff the first day, and the second day had nausea problems with the iv and a fever. The third day: NO anything. I've never opened the pain meds that came home with me. I wish you wonderful luck as I had. I'm a total wimp---just do everything they tell you to, and you will have very little nausea or pain.

    glorious overweight!

That is just phenomenal. My is plugging along, dropping a little here and there. I cannot wait to be in your little shoes!

    My struggles/My questions

I have a friend who had surgery on April 8th and she is experiencing the same things as you are. She spent a week in the hospital last week, a small leak was discovered, and she has a pik line and is home, hoping the little hole will heal. She goes in for a test tomorrow and they'll know more. She was going to have a stint put in, but they waited, thinking and hoping the hole would heal. Her experience sounds JUST like yours. I wish you only good news for the coming week. I will check back to let you know what she finds out Tuesday when she again meets with doctors. Her surgery wasn't with them but she's pleased with her care. I ache for you both---no one should ever have to feel so lousy! she did fairly well for about two weeks and then just couldn't keep anything down.

    My Progress so far

get off your bp meds. That happened to me, too, and I'm still battling low bp with no meds for over a week. I have a doctor monitoring it, but it is so hard to find energy when it's low! Good luck to you!

    I Had a Blow Pop

I'm 5 weeks out and just had 2, 2oz glasses of wine with a ton of ice. That was my first try with it and I drank it over about 2 hours and it was WONDERFUL! I think a Blow Pop is fine, too!

    Question

Take Pepto Bismol for a few days and you'll be fine!

    Consistant weekly weight loss

I think everyone is different. I've lost 20 lbs in 5 weeks, so 4 a week. But I think a lot were with the days around surgery with no food. I exercise with gardening but haven't really walked a lot since my bp gets really low right now. I hope to be able to lose 3/week!
  10. I had my surgery the same day as you---have lost 20 lbs. I am battling ZERO energy due to low bp at times. I think an egg does help at breakfast and meat is very important. We sound VERY similar! Tomorrow when I get up, I'm going to try to have more water than I can stand all day! Good luck to us!
  11. YOU are the fortunate one!~ What on earth would he be like when you've lost a ton of weight and look hot?!!! He must be so insecure. Along with that will come control, etc. You have come out way ahead. Glad he did the ditching and you can just proceed right along with your new friends here. I've been on here many months and I have never once thought it was much of an online dating service! What a nut he is!
  12. A VERY GREAT thing is moving an entire pants size out of your closet, giving it away, and knowing I will never be there again! Thrilling, I say!
  13. My regimen was similar to yours and I was eating soft foods pretty much at 2-3 weeks, definitely regular foods at 4 weeks out. I'm at 5 weeks and really don't want to try wine yet. I know 4 oz is considered a serving, acc to our nutritionist and what we read for a good diet. I cannot imagine only drinking 4 oz, so I'm just staying off of it indefinitely!

    Low blood pressure

Thank you for that input, Sassy! I'm 5 weeks out and my bp is high and low. I was on a strong bp med and when I'd still take it, mine tanked. So, now I'm on one on an as-needed basis, and I took it for the first time yesterday and my bp dropped 50 pts in an hour! no more! I had NO clue there is a low bp med! I, too, do better with exercise IF I have the energy when it's low to get started! I was so glad to know there is one for low bp in case mine stabilizes at a low point, etc. Very good forum here, I must say!
  15. I felt great the first week and tired the second when my blood pressure dropped. I was tired a lot, but still got out and about. Not bad at all!

    My first "baby step"

good for you! another great stand-by for when you need something is to get a small container and keep almonds handy. They're great for a pick-me-up.

    feeling blue

I have ups and downs, too, at 4 weeks out. But the days I am more active----cleaning, going out to do anything, are the better days. Surgery can zap a lot of energy. Blood pressure highs and lows can, too. Our bodies are asking what on earth we did to them and it's going to just take time. I think we're all in the same boat and have to stay positive!
  18. I can only eat about 3 oz. of meat at a meal. For Breakfast I have ONE Jimmy Dean turkey sausage patty(there are two in a little pack) and an egg, sometimes with a bit of cheese on it. I spend the most time drinking Water to get that 64 oz in for the day. I'm sure I'm well under 1000 cals a day and am really watching the carbs. I can eat more than some, but I think I'm pretty much the norm. I overate one time---never again, I hope. I just think totally playing "by the rules" is going to work. I'm 4 weeks out.
  19. Take whatever they give you for anti-nausea and sleep! Take a little baby cooler with some Jello and lots of Water and sip and sleep! Dfinitely have a little pillow with you!
  20. Margaret

    Today's the day!!!

You sound like most all of us! You'll be fine. Your son will love you for it, and will probably fight you for Jello for a few days! good luck to you!
  21. I had to ride home about 45 minutes after 2 nights in the hospital with my surgery. A few speed bumps I noticed and felt a little odd with, but it was no problem. I didn't feel great riding because I was a little queezy. I drove at 5 days after with absolutely no problem. I never needed pain pills and really was fine with it all. It was much easier than I had mentally prepared myself for! I know of one person who took a jeep ride after band surgery and that was a no-no for her, but I don't think you'll have much of a problem at all. good luck to you!
  22. wishing you all good thoughts for your journey beginning tomorrow!

    Grehlin Hormone...Really?

good luck tomorrow! My doctor's nurse said 3-5 little meals/day or 3 and two Snacks is about right. I'm 4 weeks out and I'd agree with that.
  24. Erin---go back to the ER, demand a GI specialist before you leave the ER! What on earth are people thinking?!!! I had to get a new doctor to monitor my rising/falling bp after surgery. Do not worry so much about it. My doctor put me on a new as needed bp med and said my old one couldn't track a moving target, as he called it, after surgery and with all the weight loss. I would SO take medical leave from work and just sip and sip to stay hydrated. Do keep us posted. You need to see a good specialist asap!
