  1. HUH? I drove 5 days out and that was for my doctor's visit about 45 minutes away. I didn't drive much at all, but it wasn't a problem in the least.

    The negative people

Probably this is why God created a DELETE BUTTON.....
  3. Meg's post says it all! I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I am 3 months out. I only have a problem when something really, really good is around and I can only eat a few bites----like July 4th and a perfect steak. However, that perfect steak also fed me for 2 more meals! I can honestly say I'm joyous over the entire change. Pulling out big clothes and passing them on is very empowering. Just looking in a mirror is almost entertaining. My insurance just began paying for the sleeve last fall so I wouldn't have done it earlier, but I do wish I could have had this done 10 years ago when the weight began piling on! It's all good. ALL GOOD!!!!!
  4. It took me about 6 weeks to get normal energy, and I had no complications but yo-yo-ing blood pressure. One day my energy just came back. I know REAL food helped. Just be good to yourself and push the liquids and you'll be there in no time. Mine literally was sudden: one morning I simply felt great!

    It will kick your butt

I'm cracking up reading this! I would SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO have gotten up and scooped and scooted my stuff by hand or foot or whatever to have it altogether! I honestly believe a sense of humor can save your life. You'll be fine with whatever you EVER do! You rock!

    Needing some encouragement

Stay busy. Clean your house. Line up clothes that will soon be going bye-bye. Stock your pantry with shakes and such. WHAT IF YOU DON'T DO IT? is the best question for you. Jitters are normal. Stay busy and it will be here before you know it.
  7. I had to stay an extra night at the hospital with a fever, high bp, problems of pain and nausea with the iv, and I thought I would roll over and die DAID from having the surgery. Once things got better, which took about 12 hours, I was literally a new person. I was so mad at myself that day for having had the surgery to begin with. I wouldn't trade it for the moon and all stars right now. I'm almost 12 weeks out and have a new life. Think about the fact that many have had complications and one day this will be but a very bad memory! I hope you feel a bit better already----iv fluids can really help. You are wonderful to keep us posted. Prayers going your way!
  8. Whiskey, lemon and honey helps. And quite honestly, a sip of moonshine if you can get your hands on it! I'm serious! So serious!
  9. I'm so sorry for your setback. Do whatever they say do and think anything positive that you possibly can. I'm so glad you're in a hospital and you will be better soon. Drugs can be a wonderful thing, you know! People do have setbacks and you have had some bad luck. I'm sending good thoughts and prayers for you and hope things are better very soon. I bet tomorrow will be a better day. Keep us posted because we do CARE!

    Pissed off

    good luck to you tomorrow!
  11. That is a glorious success story-----put a smile on my face first thing this morning!
  12. I'm at 12 weeks and haven't lost any hair. I just pack in the protein and water and try to remember vitamins! I only worry when I eat out with friends and want to eat more than I can and then I just wait and hope I don't get sick. I don't worry. It's done. Once my bp became steady---and perfect!--I began to feel like myself and started really walking. That was at about 6 weeks. I haven't had a single problem. good luck to you!
  13. Fantastic for you----and what great encouragement for us! I'll be there I HOPE by the end of July---my new goal.
  14. Mine was exactly the same with CIGNA and my surgery group. And I'm in the Smoky Mtn area as well. It took me about 7 months from start to finish with the requirements and waiting. All experiences were very timely and done in an efficient manner.
  15. Try some tomato soup with melted cheese, Laughing Cow Cheese, and probably a very scrambled egg will help tremendously. I found salmon bisque from a seafood shop to be incredibly filling---rich but filling! I could eat very early on---about 5-6 days and really got sick of the Protein shakes early on! sounds as if you're doing well! I'm about 11 weeks out now and have NO problems except I do fill up quickly!

    Cigna 6mo?

I just remembered another thing: I was able to count a month in July although I began the process to surgery in November. In July I had told my PCP I was considering the surgery and I attended an informational meeting about it at that time. Because I had mentioned it to her, that counted for one of the months! I had my surgery in early April. So my process took about 7 months but I've heard faster times with Cigna as well.

    Cigna 6mo?

All I had to do was weigh-in with my PCP monthly, which I did every 3 weeks to shave a month of time off! I had no supervised diet literally, just a monthly weigh-in with a form to send the surgeon's office. I just had to assure my surgeon I'd tried every diet plan known to mankind. Nothing was terribly rigid at all. Good luck to you. My insurance approval took about 3 weeks but you can make sure your surgeon faxes asap and calls you asap on everything. You do kind of have to watch over people at both the surgeon's office and Cigna! Good luck to you!
  18. There you go. Drink water like a fish and knock yourself out on the pre-op diet. You can do this, I just know you can!

    Is Cigna a nightmare?

I didn't have any problems with Cigna at all. I did wind up with a bill after the surgery that was a bit higher than I'd expected. But the insurance was okay.

    What have I done!!!!

Take anti-nausea meds and just drift in and out awhile. It will be easier each day! One day it will be a bad memory and you'll be happier and happier you did this!

    Question About Recovery

I was walking at 3 weeks and then had a set back with low bp and feeling very tired. I didn't have a drain. I'm also 60, and now I feel like a million dollars, but it took about 6 weeks for me to really feel like myself. I would not push it at all. I have one friend who did and she wound up with a leak and hospitalized for a week. Not good! Your body will let you know, but I think I would probably not do whitewater for at least a month. Ask your doctor!
  22. I wasn't nervous at all. I was anxious and just so ready! Prayers with you and welcome to the joy of it all coming right up!

    No longer obese!

    That is just plain fantastic!

    What is up with therapist

Rev Me Up has said it all. YOU are the one in charge here. I would so try to find a therapist who either works for a weight loss group or has been there, done that, or just a new one in general. It is amazing how people who haven't been on this site are somehow experts, isn't it? The oddest questions come up here, and they are inevidibly the ones I find most helpful. I'm 10 weeks out and have learned so much. There are so many guidelines which differ from doctor to doctor, but the general questions are most helpful. And the reassurance about stalls can only come from a physical or online support group, I do believe. You get some different help and press on with your good self!

    When did you know...

Two things: flying across country in between two people and thinking there is no way I can do this again without weight loss, and just looking in the mirror while on that trip. I'm 10 weeks out and 28 lbs lighter and I cannot tell you the difference in EVERYTHING!
