Day 3-- if i had to sum up today in one word it would be...sucked. I woke up and felt great. I still took a dose of pain meds. Hey!! I have a great idea!! I tell DH lets all go to the store to get DS2 some new baseball pants. Me, stupidly thinking i was up for it, soon learned i had one of the stupidest ideas. I was so nauseous in the car. I survived it tho. I dunno if that car ride stirred up my gas or what but the gas is KILLING me. It hurts to stand sit or walk. It does not hurt to lay on my right side. Nothing helps. Not gas x, heat or walkinf. Seriously this is the worst pain. On a happier note mt incisions seem to be doing better an only the port incision is hurting and i only had ine dose of pain meds. This gas sucks totally sucks J.

I am doing HORRIBLE at my protein intake as well as my liquid intake.

Trinate, i was banded thurs as well. I can have cream soups starting today but im not even trying. The gas pains are too much for me right now. Im sticking to Clear liquids right now. J

Day 3 post op. Other than the gas I was having a good day. Then I started having a coughing fit. Sorry to be gross but i coughed up this huge chunk of yellow mucus. I am still coughing off and on. I was drinking broth when i coughed. Could that explain the yellow color? I have not been good about remembering to take deep breaths. Should i be worried? I googled it and it said pnemonia could start this way. Am i being paranoid? My husband says i need to chill and take my deep breaths. Help?!

I am on day 3 and the gas sucks! Gas x doesnt work. I ca deal with the shoulder pain but the gurgling everywhere in my body is just gross.

Got banded today. After surgery I had a barium swallow. That icky crap you drink wasnt going into my intestines. They had me lay on my right side for 15 minutes. Then they took more pics and the icky stuff had moved down. Apparently when the radiologist told the dr the dr said for me not to be discharged w/out him coming to talk to me about it. They did let me have water and I did fine with it. After waiting for 4 hrs for dr (he had surgery at another hospital) he said since I was doing ok I was fine to leave. The radiologist tech said sometimes this happens bc of swelling. WTH? Dr made it seem like a big deal and then it wasnt. Did that happen to anyone else?

I had surgery 9/22 and was freaking out the weekend before. I did like you, kept myself busy cleaning, by monday my panic went away and I knew I was making the right decision. Just remember all the reasons you are doing this. For me I spent a few minutes watching my 6 year old sleep and smiled because one day I am gonna see that baby grow up and make me grandbabies. And Im gonna be around for that. J

Dont compare yourself to anyone else. Every body is different. Its 22 pounds you will never see again. Keep it up!!

Day 2 update--well i feel a lil better than yesterday. I have had no nausea at all today. I didnt take pain meds until late yesterday and today i took them every 4 hrs. I was always in pain by the 4 hr mark. Shoulder pain comes and goes. Gas has moved to other places too. Its like i have to burp but nothing comes up. I hope im walking enough. It hurts getting up and down. I can sleep ok. I sleep better on the bed than the recliner. I havent had that "oh crap what did i do" moment. I am just ready to be healed. Dh is wonderful. Hes been keeping up with the house and kids. Funny, considering this man did NOT agree with this at first. I hope I continue to make healing progress. I hope we all do. Lets just all follow our drs orders. We are on our way to a healthy life. J

I get that feeling in my chest too when i drink. I called My drs ofc and nurse said it was from swelling.

I was banded yesterday and have been sleeping on my right side. It feels most comfortable for me.

No one??!! Crud, now I'm really worried.

I was banded yesterday and it doesnt burn but when I drink or eat jello my chest hurts. Like pressure type hurt. I dont know if Im gulping or what. I am calling my surgeon tomorrow. When i stand up it stops. I am hoping its just from trauma/swelling.

A friend of mine (2 of them actually) who have been banded said the pain is no big deal. One went to a wedding on day 2 post op. Well it's 2:50 am on day 1, I guess technically day 2, and guess what I will NOT be doing tomorrow. Yup, going to a wedding. Lol. I do have another friend who has the band and she was in pain and told me it hurts. Guess I will be sure to call her to whine and not the other 2.

Crap. I got banded today and the pain sucks. Nice to hear the pain will get worse. Not. I think getting banded is a lot like having a baby....moms forget all about the horid pain because they have a cute baby, bansters forget all about the pain because they end up witha new hot bod (eventually).

Got banded today. Holy cow! Feel like I just did a million sit ups. Everytime I get up I feel nauseous but when I get up the gas pains go away. My left shoulder was already hurtiing in recovery. The pain is worse than I thought. Crap, this is rough.

My day has come!! Getting banded tomorrow!! Today is full clear liquids and all I can hear and feel is my tummy groooooowwwwwwlin. Lol.

So just like I sampled different Protein shakes so that when the time came and I needed them I wouldnt be gagging, I decided to sample some broth for my first few days post op (and that one day right before op). Gaaaaaag!! I have tried 3 different kinds and they are so gross. I tried 2 different kinds of chickrn and 1 brand beef. Dont laugh but one of the chicken (it was one from a box) smelled like urine. I could not get over it. Can someone tell me a good brand? Or am I worried about nothing bc I wont really need it? I really want to make sure i get enough protein. J

I did my preop stuff friday at hospital. I did all my paperwork, blood work, mrsa test, met with a bariatric nurse for about 30 minutes who told me a bunch of stuff i already knew, got some freebee vitamins and protein shakes, met with the anesthesiologist for about 15 minutes and was given a tour of the place. I had already had my pysch, ekg and blood work done. I am assuming you would know if you'd be getting a egd bc my prior surgeon (who i switched from) required that and i had to have someone drive me home.

Getting banded thurs. I couldnt find the gas x strips but did find the chewable. Will I be able to crush these and take them the first few days post op? Or should I keep looking for the strips?
