  1. Thanks guys for all of the info. I completely understand about the self control because it is just sooo easy to just eat everything (which is the main reason y I chose vsg instead of bypass. I didnt want the great restriction and I wanted more control) I have to train myself to choose salad or soup instead of french fries and water with lemon instead of soda (especially when I go out). But thanks for the encouraging words and good luck and keep up the losing!
  2. Hi guys, Well I was sleeved on 10/29/2010 and it was the best thing I ever done. At my heaviest I was about 424 at my lowest after sleeve, I was 270. I heard that after 2 years, you stop losing weight...is that true? I am afraid that I will and come short of my goal of being under 200 pounds. I know under 200 is a large goal considering in 5'11". And I have a large frame, but if anyone has any info on this please let me know. Good luck everyone!
  3. Hi guys, I posted a topic about a month ago where I hit a stall. I just couldnt lose weight for nothing. I think I was actually gaining weight. Well I took some advice from some people on here and it worked. I was eating: Breakfast: one egg (usually white), 2 slices of bacon and maybe a slice of toast snack; orange juice or popcorn lunch: 1/2 tuna sandwich snack: 1/2 soda or 10 grapes dinner: maybe a snow crab cluster, or tuna, or 4 scallops or maybe a chicken leg snack: pork rinds exercise 1 hour a day (EVERYDAY) and I was not losing anything. well i changed things up. I started paying more attention to my calorie intake. I modified some things and the weight started falling off again Now I eat: Breakfast: 1 package of instant oatmeal snack; 1/2 serving of orange juice (i need the oj to help keep my blood sugar high enough to keep me going) Lunch: 1 cup of salad with low fat dressing (no meat on my salad. just plain romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumber...basic salad) snack: 10 grapes Dinner: something seafoodish with lots of Protein snack 1/2 cup popcorn and during the day i enjoy TONS of propel zero (no calories, fat or carb) or crystal light (theres some calories in it, but i dont drink much maybe 2 packages a week) and when I want to splurge I get a sprite zero or a diet sparkling green tea with strawberry and kiwi (no calories) AND exercise everyday for 1 hr Well because I have reduced my intake, I just weighed in at.......289!!! the first time since graduating High school i have been under 333!!! So now I got 90 pounds to onederland!!!! I can do it and I know I can now....GO ME!!!
  4. Hi everyone, I was sleeved on Oct. 29,2010 and I am doing wonderful now. I am loosing weight wonderfully, I am exercising and I am diabetes free!!! So everything seems like it is going great...But its not!!! NONE OF MY CLOTHES FIT!!!!! I know, I know. If that is my only problem now...but it is a problem. Before sleeve, I was wearing a 30/32 womens. Now most of us know that it gets really hard to find anything to wear when you get above a 24W. I was living at Lane Bryant and Avenue. But now, I recently brought some pants sized 22/24 and I have room. My mother has a jacket which is a 3X and it is too big for me. I AM SO LOVING MY NEW BODY!!! Thank you sleeve!
  5. Hi guys, Well I have been losing pretty well now. I lost a lot of weight. I was sleeved on October 29,2010 and I have lost about 100lbs so far. Now I am stuck around 300lbs. I dont know what is going on. I am 5'11" and I have a large frame. My dr wants me at 150-160 lbs but I will be happy with 185-200 lbs. Of course I am on solids and I can eat more calories. I eat Breakfast, lunch and dinner. with maybe 2 Snacks. I try to get down some form of Protein. I exercise at least 1 time a day either riding my exercise bike for 30 mins or walking 3 miles (with my 6month old lab puppy). I cant get a budge. And this has been for about a month. I dont have a scale cause I dont want to be constantly weighing myself, I use the scale at my local doctors office. They let me come in and weigh myself every week. I just need advice on what to do to break this stall. I know if I can break it, the next 100 lbs will melt off. So anyone have any advice, please HELP!!!
  6. I completely understand what you are talking about. It is difficult buying new clothes (and shoes) now that the extra weight is gone. I was and am not a small gal. I always have to buy my bras from Avenue or Lane Bryant. So buying a new bra or two a month is an additional $30 a peice. And then I can not wear it in a month! Not a happy camper. For example before sleeve, I was a womans 30, now I am a 22/24. So NOTHING fits. I do wear a lot of leggins, and cotton pants which I can get from Walmart for about $7-14 a peice. That has been doing well since I drop in size so frequently. But the one thing that I have encountered recently is that I need a jacket. You know because the weather is changing. I CANT FIND ONE!!! I dont want to buy a jacket for 40-50 bucks and cant wear it in a month, so off to goodwill. or Old Navy to find a jacket. Well good luck.
  7. Well good luck and you can do it!!! I was on isopure exclusively until soft/puree stage. I did the chocolate. I bought it online from vitamin shoppe. it was a little cheaper than gnc. i would mix it with a little milk, instant coffee and a sprinkle of splenda. YUM!! put it in the blender and super yum. add some ice and Milkshake. with the isopure it is 50grams of protein per shake so i only needed 2 per day. well good luck and you can do it.

    Eating out

I didnt receive a card either, but I do eat out. I just order off the kids menu. I have not had anyone say anything yet, I have also been to a buffett. Granted it was a waste of money. I just choose what I wanted off the line.
  9. Hi guys, I am so excited. I was sleeved on October 29, 2010 and since then I have been stuck in the house. You know doing the liquid diet, now on puree. Our family has the horrible habit of eating out a lot. So when they eat out, I just dont go and stay home and eat my liquids or my school paste puree LOL. But today, the Harry Potter movie came out and my husband knows how excited I get about that movie. So he took a half of day at work and came home early and suprised me with dinner and a movie date. He said I will enjoy myself. I was a little hesitant about going to the movies, you know the concession stand and all, but when I got there I got a bottle Water, and a sugar free popsicle and watched the movie. I didnt even finish the water and I was ok. We went to a mongolian bbq buffett for dinner and of course I was terrified. But they had an all you can eat Soup and salad bar. I only ate the liquid from the soup and i became full off of the smell of the bbq cooking. I ordered ice water (which I didnt drink). but I actually ate out. I was soo afraid that I couldnt do it, but it felt soo good to do it. You think at the beginning of this life changing procedure that you will never be able to do the things that you use to. Mostly because our lives revolve around food soo much, but we can do it. I know that soup was full of calories and possible carbs and of course fat, but it is nice to have a little "splurge". Just a side note, when we got home i walked 3 extra blocks for my splurge LOL! But just a note for you fellow sleevers who think life as you know it is over, get out and enjoy yourselves. you will find it fun to "find" how to keep on your diet.
  10. Aww its okay if you are sad and depressed. I was sleeved on Oct 29th and I get depressed often. I was told that it is the extra estrogen that is released when you loose weight that triggers the depression and mood swings and that sounds just about right. Its okay to have buyers remorse and to feel sucky. Just remember not to subscribe to any eating disorders which you had before your surgery to feel comfort (i.e. eating when sad, snacking and so forth) You will NOT be able to eat much, and it will HURT when you do. Think of your new belly as a baby and you have to relearn everything over. It will be ok.
  11. Hi all, Well I was sleeved October 29th 2010. I stayed in the hospital for one day. I previously had a hysterectomy due to cancer so I dont have the prettiest scars. I got this monster one that goes the length of my belly from my previous surgery and then the 8 little ones from the sleeve. My dr had a little trouble due to scar tissue and my liver was HUGE!!! He was thinking about not doing it, but he did it and I am so glad he did. Granted sometimes I get really depressed and wish I wouldve never did it, but at my heaviest I was about 425 pounds and that was just earlier this year. I am only 34!!! I knew something had to be done. I am on a progression diet now. Baby food consistanty puree. YUM!!! Honestly I prefered the liquid diet. The smell of the puree just makes it nasty. What I have found is that tuna salad and chicken salad puree is the best. I just cant do the "real" food puree. Chicken taste like paste no matter how much seasoning you add to it. and beef reminds me of dog food. so tuna and chicken salad it is. I should be trying solid foods on Thanksgiving. The main thing I dont like is that I have to eat soo much. like every 2-3 hours. Granted its only like a spoonfull, but I feel like I am grazing and thats a NO NO! During my first post-op visit, I lost 30 pounds!! I know Yea! But with moving on to the puree diet, I feel like i havent lost as much. I refuse to weigh myself unless i am at my drs office. This way no false reads or getting upset if I dont loose as much as I should. Other issue the protein shakes. I am drinking Isopure. I love it, but its soooo hard to get down 2 shakes. each shake is 50grams of protein so i need 2, but its soo hard. its a little easier if mixed with milk and coffee to make a mocha, but its HARD!!! I think I am going to try the Unjury to see since it is a little cheaper. I didnt like it in the hospital. it was kinda nasty, but I think I need a change. Well let me stop running on. I hope to wish everyone out there the best of luck and we can do it.
