    Starbucks/ Panera Suggestions

Yikes, frappucinos hurt my stomach! I get a non-fat latte w 1 pump sugar free peppermint, 1 pump sugar free mocha and 2 equals. As for Panera, any salad is probably ok if you skip the croutons. And any Soup that is NOT creamy is good. I tried eating the baked potato one about 2-3 months out from surgery and I lterally got in 2 bites before feeling like I had a lump in my throat. Not to mention the fat content :X
  2. And weight gain from exercise is muscle being built. You can weigh more but be smaller in inches!
  3. I recently gained 5lbs and I know it is not just a flux... it is because I have been stress eating Made a decision to get back on the wagon and the good news is that I am feeling motivated to go to the gym. I went for a month or two with zero desire. Maintenance is way more scary than initial loss! I am 138 as of this morning. I was down to 132-133. Oh and I was 1yr post op at the end of December.

    Post-op Constipation

I know you are only 4 weeks out but once you are cleared for exercise that REALLY helps with metabolism. And also getting in your veggies. My doc suggested 1 meal high protein, 1 meal veg, 1 meal high protein, 1 meal veg, 1 meal high protein. We obviously can't eat much so instead of trying to stuff yourself, just focus on one vitamin content item each meal. I have changed my diet towards this and it has helped tremendously.
  5. Thank you everyone! To whomever asked abotu the loose skin, I do have some but I consider myself very blessed... it is minimal. I notice it most on my lower stomach, but I also had a 9lb 5oz baby boy with excess amniotic Fluid... so I cannot blame being overweight entirely for that. And then for my arms, it is amazing what light weghtlifting will do for loose skin! DO IT!!!!! I also have some on my inner thighs and hips, but it is not "that" noticeable in my opinion. I definitely think I would be tinier if I didn't have it, but again, not complaining!!! And as for how I did it: diet, exercise, and medical intervention (I was on phentermine for 2 months midway through the year). But the past 3 months or so I have been very good about going to the gym, doing both cardio AND weights, and just eating pretty well.
  6. I can't believe tomorrow is my surgiversary. My wedding photographer was talking on FB (she had gastric bypass last month) and she was saying how some people on her boards have lost 140lbs in a year. I thought about it and as of this morning, I have lost 107lbs this past year. I honestly cannot believe it. It is a goal that I have always dreamt of but didn't think I could reach... and then to exceed it. Absolutely mind blowing! Here is a little photo side by side she made for me that I thought was kinda cool! And then one of my family this holiday season... hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!!
  7. Thanks everyone for your support. It feels amazing! And my computer is funky with this website so I can't see who said they liked my handbag, but funny story..... I got it on clearance at TJMaxx and by the time I went to use it my coworker pointed out that the hinges were broken So I jerry-rigged them with paperclips!!! LOL. My beautiful, macguyver handbag

I hit my goal of 145 on Saturday! 100 lbs lost. Wow.... very surreal. Wrote a blog about it (pictures are in there ) Goal Blog Post
  12. That is AWESOME!!!! Wait til you start looking at those sizes and thinking they are big.... it took awhile for my brain to catch up and think "no, that won't fit, it's too big!"

    Hit goal!

Just wanted to say thank you all for the kind words and encouragement! This board has been a great resource for me and it is so great to share my experience with people who truly understand my journey. And to Kala, thank you! That means a lot to me.... I write my blog in the hopes that it can encourage, inspire, or sometimes just make people think. I try to be 100% honest and up front about what this surgery has done for me.
  14. you are gorgeous! congrats on the size 8s!

    When to buy new clothes

I have a shopping problem so I LOVE buying new clothes, particularly as I go from size to size. Also I like to buy a size smaller so that when I fit in them, I know I shrunk for sure Right now I am an 8, trying my best to get to a solid 6. Wish me luck! Oh and I second hitting up all of the clearance racks at Target and Old Navy and Marshalls and Ross. I have a very nice wardrobe (get complimnted quite a bit) and I pay like $5-10 for each article... sometimes less! The jeans I am wearin right now were $1.49 less 30% at Old Navy!!!!
  17. Hey everyone! I am 4lbs away from goal weight according to the scale yesterday, but I feel like every time it bounces down it'll bounce back up a lb. GRRR. Either way I can't deny that it felt amazing to see a 149 on the scale!!!! We had our honeymoon in Hawaii the last week of August and I am posting a bikini pic on here. EEKS!!!! I am not 100% happy with my body but I am so proud of my accomplishment that it takes away any sort of anxiety about sharing! haha Another thing that I am SINCERELY hoping you all can help me with is a "contest" that our photographer is doing. I have to get 100 people to post a comment on her blog post about our wedding. We win a portrait, which would really be a blessing. After paying for a wedding and honeymoon we can't afford to buy pictures yet.... only the family taken ones on shutterfly. To help, please click on this link: Y Studio Photography - Alexis & Roger and then post a comment ON THE BLOG (just scroll to the bottom and you can post a comment there). Also, if you get a chance, and I know this is a pain in the butt, so I apologize in advance.... can you please "like" them on facebook? Their name is Y Studio Photography. Here is the link: Y Studio on Facebook. She asked that people make a comment like "Love Alexis & Roger's pics" or something like that but even a like click is much appreciated by me. Ok thanks everyone!!! And thanks for checking out my honeymoon pics! xoxo

    Six Months Pics 103lbs down

You look absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I remember seeing a post from you many months ago with maybe 30 or so lbs lost..... you have done SUCH a great job!!
  21. SFOTraveler

How many total inches have you shrunk???

I literally just said "HOLY ****!" out loud after reading your post AND shared the info with my office-mate! LOL That is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!! Congrats to you!! I have no idea about inches I forgot to take starting measurements... or any measurements really. I just go on clothing size. Hoping to fit into a size 6 within a month or so!

Lost too much weight - ha ha

OMG I totally agree!!! I even said that to my doctor. I was like "I'm a 12 now and I weigh 160 lbs.... is it even possible for me to get a size 6 or 4?!!!" and he said that it is absolutely possible. I am wondering how. at 149 I am an 8. I think I will need to be int he 120s. Some people are like a 2/4 in the 120s. grr. BUT on the practical side, I have to fit extra skin in my pants

Lost too much weight - ha ha

CONGRATS!!!!! I did the same thing with the small clothes. Mine were all 14s and 12s.... I am an 8 now! It felt great but it is definitely a weird feeling to bypass all of the clothes. Great work!!!

Anyone else still "see" themselves at their old weight?!!

Funny that you mention this because I literally just completed a blog post about it this morning. I am like Krista, I don't see myself as huge anymore, but I don't see myself as thin either.... I look at pictures and can't believe it is me. Yet when I look in the mirror I don't see what I see in the thin pics. It is all very very strange! If curious, the link is below.
  25. Interesting question. I don't think I will ever be satisfied with the weightloss.... even now I have had numerous family members say to me "DONT LOSE ANY MORE!" because they are worried about me being TOO thin (I am definitely NOT too thin by mine or my docs standards), but my theory is lose as much as I possibly can because everyone has the 10lbs bounce back... I don't wanna bounce back to a size 12 or 14.... I would like to be where I am now, long term. I think for me, maintenance is a lot scarier than weightloss.
