  1. My knees were getting close to needing to be replaced' date=' and I thought to myself... Self... you KNOW what the problem is, so fix it! I started investigating the band that day and have never looked back! Knees not perfect, but not painful anymore. It has made a huge difference in my activity level and willingness to do things. Never going back to Morbidly Obese![/quote']

I forgot about the knees and ankles and all that, gosh I don't miss all that. I remember having had to crawl up the stairs at the end if the day cause it hurt so bad... Not anymore!!!

  2. My hubby was living out of state for the first year after my surgery. Everytime I would see him, I would be 10 to 15 lbs lighter. So I would make sure to reassure him that he is still the only guy I wanted. I would buy some sexy things, and sweet talk him. This became easier as I lost cause your self esteem goes up as your weight goes down.

as for your family, what's done is done. They are going to have to get used to the new you soon or later...or the old you as the case may be :-)

  3. I got so sick of trying every diet known to man kind to just lose 20, gain back 30. Then I was 240.... I saw a friend one year after her surgery and she lost 75 lbs... I went to the meeting two weeks later and was banded 6 weeks later. Im so happy that I don't have to do anymore fad diets. This will be my second Christmas as a thinner person. My only new year resolution will be to work out more, not to lose weight this year.

  4. I do wonder what some of the doctors out there have done to help their patients. It is sad that they are left to fend for them selves. I felt blessed with my doctors office. My surgeon gave me his cell phone number the day of surgery just in case I needed him.

The first three to four months there are alot of questions and concerns that need to be covered. And as good as this forum is, some of those concerns need to be addressed by a doctor...

    Great topic!!

  5. I posted a few days ago that I scratched my throat on a pill. I took.it easy the next day. Since then I have been having a hard time swallowing, not getting stuck, but actually swallowing like before it even hits my throat.

Has anyone experience this? not sure what to think. I guess I will call the surgeon tomorrow and see what they can tell me.

  6. I have to take these horse pill muscle relaxers for my back and I've been having a difficult time getting them down and that's even cutting them in half. Tonight I went to take the first half and almost choked on it and luckily it came back up or hubbie would have needed to do the hymlick on me...

My throat is so sore now, I really did a number on it. I wonder if I should do liquids tomorrow?? I also need to see if the pharmacy can get me something smaller.

Anyone have this issue? This is my first problem with pills after 20 months banded...

  7. Wow This Next Posting Is Going To Be Fun!!!! For THOSE OF YOU WHO THOUGHT I WAS BEING TOO DRAMATIC!!! I made this posting topic Just to see how many negative responses I could Get!! I Thank MY True Friends who did not fall into negative words or arms!!! For those who did NOT!! YOU just missed your moment!!! Whatever that is!! To Be positive!! DON'T TELL ME HOW I FELT!! NO I'm no trying to scare anyone!!! If anyone could not read through the lines!! It stated I felt like I cheated death!!! I did not say the band causes Death!!! SO LEARN TO READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU CONDEMN!!!! Those who live in Glass Houses Should Not Throw Stones!!!!! Have a Blessed One!!!

You need serious help, and not from God...

  8. I too thought the title was a little much. I have been banded for almost two years and have had several stuck episodes. They hurt like heck and one even took me to the doc for an unfill because I couldn't get it unstuck after several hours... But never did I think I was cheating death. To the newbies, this is a exaggerated expression to say the least... But they do hurt, so try not to get stuck, chew your food!!!

  9. I sat next to my 15 year old football player nephew and watched him polish off two over flowing plates, which included 4 rolls and two pieces of pie. I could not even finish my salad plate of one forkful of everything. Watching people eat like that now gives me the willies..

Its amazing that I ate like that three Thanksgiving's ago.

  10. I ruptured a disk in my lower back and have to take Motrin for the inflammation. I did call my doctor and they said it should be fine but just do some antacids to help counteract what they might be doing to my stomach. This is the first time I've taken anything but Tylenol since surgery, so im hoping that it won't do anything. Im hoping I will only have to take them for a week.

Also, if I have to have surgery on my back, do you think I will have to have my band unfilled? It would be an in/ out procedure if needed.

  11. I totally agree with with u Tracy on everything you said. I consider myself at goal because I made it to the size I wanted to be. But It is hard to get out of the losing phase of mind. I still want to lose that last 6 lbs, but I have been maintaining at this weight so well that I think this is the weight my body likes.

I pretty much eat what I like in moderation. I still don't eat bread, rice or carbonation, but I'm good with that.

Plus, if I lost to much more, I would have to start all over on buying clothes and that would totally suck. Medium top/ 8/10 jeans are good for my body type.

    Great job everyone...

  12. I actually said out loud the other day. "now that im thin" Although, I still argue with people who say im skinny. To me there is a difference between skinny and thin. Skinny seems to be like top model anorexic type if thing, thin seems to be more acceptable to me. Just my opinion though.

It has taken me a year now to accept that I am a thin person now. I don't eat alot at one time, I don't really think about my next meal, I used to love to go out to eat for date night, but now its not a big deal cause the most im gonna eat is a bowl of Soup or a salad.

I think this is how a thin person thinks, at Least this thin person!!! :-)

  13. Im a year and 1/2 and am pretty much done. I wanted to get to 164, about 6 lbs away, but if I don't get there, not a big deal. I am medium tops and 8/10 on bottoms. I've been this weight for 6 months now, so I think im getting the hang of maintaining, but it is a daily commitment. I still watch that I don't go crazy. Im 46, so things are what they are body wise after three kids...

Great job and congrats to you!!!
