A friend of mine that got her band about year and 1/2 ago says that is how her band works as well. Thats why she said to try and get a fill about every 6 weeks or so. I am suppose to go and get my 2nd fill tomorrow, but I dont think I need to. I still have to force myself to eat and get in my calories for the day. So I am going to wait until the 24th. That is two days before I leave for a scrapbook retreat, so I am hoping that I wont eat all day while I am scrapbooking. Uggg.

Hey puglover, It looks like we started out kinda the same. I weighed in at 236 (my scale) and I am at 212/213 right now as well. I just tried on some 16's and they fit, but were a bit snug, but they fit . I have my goals at 10 per month as well. My next one is 205 by July 1st so thats only 7 pounds more to go. What is your height. I am 5' 7.5". Seems like we are on the same ride . I went to work today and wore a tighter than I normally do t-shirt and some size 18 capri's and everyone said "Wow" because I for one usually wear baggie shirts and pants. But I can finally see my shape again, I thought I would try it out. It was nice to hear the "wows". Congrats on your size 16!!!!! Hopefully you will be able to get the dress altered enough. Keep up the good work.

Im 8weeks out and sometimes my port still hurts. I worked in the yard all day today and by the end of the say it hurt to bend over. I can also feel my port pretty easily. Dont know if that makes a difference. I am going to the doctor on wednesday so I was going to check then if it was normal this late or not.

hopetolose replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yup, I will donate. You guys are definatly right that I wont need to go back there. good advice that I should start with all my winter stuff. If all goes right I will be down to a 14 (hopefully 12) by the fall, so might as well get rid of them now. Ps, my mom asked me if I had lost 30 pounds today, I said no, only 23. She said well it looks like 30. Love that... -
How often you organize your closets?
hopetolose replied to Russian_BANDit_inNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Opps, just posted something on this. I am just getting down one size, so I will have to start going thru my closet soon. It is going to be hard to get rid of stuff. But I guess it needs to be done -

Weird Comment by fellow Bandster
hopetolose posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So when i was in for my first fill last week, I had a lady that had the procedure done the same day say a comment to me that I wasnt sure how to take. My surgeon does the post op class for "how to understand fill process" on the 6 week mark and all the people that had the procedure done that day comes in to the class and then goes and has thier fill done right afterwards. There were 4 of us that was banded on 4/14. So I have met these people twice in the last month and 1/2. Both at classes. This one lady is kinda big and walks with a cane. But I could tell that she has done well and she seems to be moving around better than she did the last time I saw her. Well we got to talking a little bit before the class and then again right after our fills were done as we sat next to each other while we were sipping on our waters. We talked about how the fills went and all that. Then she said "not to be mean, but why did you have the procedure done, you dont even look overweight" I wasnt quite sure how to respond. I just said that I definately needed it done and that I was happy that I had done it. My bmi was 37, which makes me severely obese. I would say this lady is probably under morbid obese. I kinda switched the subject after that to something else. Im just wondering if this is the norm on how people feel about someone that is not over 40 bmi having the procedure done. I hope I am not opening up a big can of worms asking this question. Either way, would not bother me because I am so glad that I did it. When she said it, I almost wanted to say "well why didnt you get the bypass done" But I didnt think that would be nice at all to say and I am not a person that would hurt someone just to hurt them. It is up to her what procedure she wanted to have done, just like it was up to me on having this procedure done. That was just a quick thing that went through my mind when I was trying to decide if I was offended or not by her comment. Anyway, was just thinking about it and was curious if anyone has had a comment like this before. -

hopetolose replied to Time2BHealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So Mushies? Its basically refried beans, cottege cheese, yogurt. Stuff like that. I did riccota cheese melted with a little tomato sauce and parm cheese on it. That was pretty good. Good luck. This is a kinda boring stage, but better than liquids thats for sure. -
I cheated tonight on my liquid diet
hopetolose replied to goosemommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats ok! I didnt want you to feel like you were getting slammed for one slip up. I remember that 1st week or 2 just walking around the kitchen looking for something to eat that I could eat. Picking up something and putting it down cause I shouldnt eat it. Ugg that was so frustrating. Its not like when you are on a diet and you can slip up a little and then eat right the next time. You have to work around all these other components for awhile. But it does get easier. I'm almost a pro at my measly little 7 weeks post op. lol -
Post-Honeymoon but pre-first-fill phase
hopetolose replied to BandedKitten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through some days where I was not hungry and then some days where I just wanted to eat all day. It was like some days the band was working and some days it wasnt even there. This started around 3 weeks. Those are the days that you have to track your food intake, so that you can manage it without the band's help. I think this is what is referred to as bandster hell. It is also going to get frustrating because if you are like alot of us, you weight loss is going to stall as well for the next few weeks. This also is hell. This is when you need to track what you eat as well. Good luck -

hopetolose replied to goosemommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think what the doctors would be worried about would be it getting processed through your stomach because it is healing. I think that because the surgery causes trauma that it needs time to not process solid things so that it can heal faster so that you wont have problems with solids in the future. That was my understanding anyway -
This phase seems to last forever, but you will get through it. It is almost impossible to get enough calories in this phase unless you drink more than 5 shakes per day. Eat lots of popcycles and Jello. You could even put some whip cream on your jello. Try and do stuff around the house or go for a walk to get your mind off the growling. good luck

How do you stop/prevent binge eating?
hopetolose replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugg, I hear you! I have to just tell myself no as well. I have gotten a couple of the Peanut Butter special k Protein bars. They are pretty good and they can kinda fix a chocolate need. I have to fix lunch and Snacks for my daycare center and that is the hardest part is not just snacking on the stuff that I am fixing. I used to just take bites here and there all the time, but I have had to really stop and think about that to stop the grazing. -

its hard, but try and stick to the rules as best as you can. I got desparate also and sucked on jelly Beans (banded at easter time). But only a couple until I got ahold of myself and told myself to stop. Good luck -
How many incisions do you have?
hopetolose replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 3. There are two tiny ones about 1/4 inch. Then there is one that is about an inch long right above my belly button. I told the doc that I love my incisions cause you can hardly tell they are there and I am only 7 weeks out. He did a pretty good job. Now if he could get rid of my stretch marks from my children, I would divorce my hubby and marry him. -
Finding it hard to get enough calories
hopetolose replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am feeling pretty good about eating the foods. They seem to go down fairly good (except for one stuck on Monday morning) totally my fault though. Dont Eat and Drive I am just not hungery. This is the run down of my eating day today: 7:30 atkins Protein drink 11:15 3 oz chicken and about 2 oz veggies 4:00 Mcdonalds Fruit and yogurt parfait (no granola) 6:15 3 oz chicken and about 2 oz veggies and 1/2 piece of toast 8:00 1 bar of Honey oats granola bar I am doing my fitness pal on my phone to track. It says that is 762 for the day. uggg maybe I will have another Protein shake. I am at 75 carbs for the day, so I am in range for that. I am eating 5 times a day. I ate the granola bar just to get some more calories in. There are times when I have to make myself eat too. I dont think I will go in for my fill. I think I am good. -
Yuck, had my first slim experience today
hopetolose posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg, that is awful. I have gotten stuck before, or so I thought, until this morning. I was driving back from texas this morning and wanted to get something quick that didnt have alot of calories, so I got a sausage burrito from mcdonalds. Figured I eat half of it. Took a small bite, went down fine. Took the next and tnat was it. Thought I would die, had to pull over and finally had to force myself to bring it up. Yuck. Never want to do that again. Should of know better than to have that anyway, and to do it while driving was not the smartest move. Ended up with just a protein drink for the rest of the drive. -

I am tall, 5'8", so I do carry my weight pretty well. most in my thunder thighs I dont think she was trying to be mean, thats why I wrote wierd instead of negative on my post. I agree with Dave, I think she didnt really see me at obese. Its just like how I see my sister. She thinks sheneeds to lose weight, byt I would kill to be a 10-12. Im sorry, I did open big can if worms. Would make good reality tv, morbid vs severely obese. Lol I will not take her comment to heart and when I see her I will continue to support her as I hope she will with me. She seemed like a very nice lady and I wish her the best
