  1. Can you believe our surgeries are only 4 days away?! I'm soo ready to do this and get some more clothing options. Let me know if you ever need to talk!

  2. Just had pre-registration call from hospital for Tuesday, March 8th!!

  3. 5 days before surgery! Eeecckkk!! I have always been a big gas station cappucino lover. Found sugar free french vanilla creamer today. No sugar and only 30 calories. Delicious with coffee and I don't even like coffee. Have a great day!

  4. I loved your answer to the forum of "Not Working"! Very well said and inspirational.

  5. Day 6 Pre-op diet - the weekend has not been good to me or my diet rather. Not bad portions or really bad choices just not on approved right now. I must do better this week. I am down to 8 days before surgery. I really have to buck up!

  6. Day 4 pre-op diet - I cheated. I am an emotional eater. I had a nutter butter thing. It had protein (peanut butter) Pretty sure the sugar content was a little much. Yes, it ran through my head - deal with your emotions some other way. Something physical. Well, I am at work so I ate it. Do I feel guilty? A little. But I've got such a bad attitude right now that my anger & frustration outweighs my guilt. Ugh!

  7. Day 3 of pre-op diet. This is getting old already. I want a hamburger. I will even add some healthy lettuce, tomato & onion to it. Had lettuce with salad dressing spritzer instead. not the same! I would also like a can of Coke. Hate to buckle so early in the game but it would taste sooo good right now.

  8. Wow reverie! That is fantastic. I am having my surgery on March 8 and would love to acheive what you have. Do you have any tips? Also, what exercises do you do to avoid loose skin? Thank You!

    Anyone getting banded on 3/8/11

I am! Less than 2 weeks away. Do you have a pre-op diet? How long do you have to be on it? I have a 2 week diet. Here's to starting our new lives "together" on March 8, 2011!!

    Miscarriage Question/Support

That is horrible! They didn't even offer you an explanation of what might have caused the miscarriages? Switching doctors is a great idea. I would maybe even make a complaint to their board about the ultrasound tech! Ask the new dr to run the gammet of blood tests. We found that I had blood clotting disorder causing the miscarriages. I was put on baby aspirin while trying to conceive and shots of blood thinner while pregnant. A realitively easy fix and the result was 2 healthy babies. I pray that your results will be just as easily fixed. A high risk pregnancy isn't all that bad. It equals more doctors visits, i.e. more chances to hear the heartbeat and more ultrasounds to see him or her! Good luck and let us know how everything is going.
  11. Day 2 of the pre-op diet. I was worried about being blocked up from only the shakes and little else but let's just say I do not have that problem. ugh! I ate my Healthy Choice Salisbury Steak frozen meal last night for supper. Who knew that could taste sooo good! I chewed slowly for practice but also to savor every little bit.

  12. Day 1 of pre-op diet. Really trying to tell myself that I am satisfied with that shake I just just drank! LOL I think I will have some jello in 1/2 hour.

    Miscarriage Question/Support

It is very normal to be nervous after a miscarriage. I experienced 2 before they found the reason why and I was able to have 2 great kids. i was a nervous wreck with both pregnancies. I'm sure the nurse got sick of me but luckily we live in a small town where I could call the nurse and she would let me come up to listen to the heartbeat! you may find your husband is just as nervous. Men (in general) hate when there is something they can't fix and find it especially hard when the woman they love is in pain. I wish i knew about pregnancy after the band but if you ever need someone to talk to please don't hesitate to send me a message. I am more than willing to listen. I am sending prayers your way for a healthy & happy pregnancy!

    Introducing myself

Thank you for joining! You are an inspiration to all of us "yet to be banded". My big day is March 8th. Do you have any do's or don'ts for someone about to start the journey? Congratulations on your success! You have done so well, I'm sure you will reach your goal weight. Take care! Hope to hear from you soon.

    March 2011 Bandsters

I am scheduled for surgery on March 8, 2011! I am very ready for this. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I can have 3 meal replacement shakes with 1 frozen meal under 320 calories per day. I also get to have 1.5 cups of veggies, sugar-free jello and lettuce with spritzer salad dressing. For anyone who has started the pre-op diet - how was the hunger level? I want to do everything right but am afraid I will cheat due to extreme hunger. Here's to our new & improved lives starting 03/2011!
  16. Hi! I am really new to posting. Just registered (10 minutes ago). I have been overweight since early childhood. Like most everyone, tried diets (some succeeded, some didn't). I am now at a point where the number can not go up anymore. I have had enough but know I need help. I'm married to a wonderfully supportive husband and have had two beautiful children 18 mos apart. The only piece not fitting quite so good is me - into pants, chairs. I've just become uncomfortable in my own skin. I researched (maybe too much) and went to a surgeon a little over a year ago. It was there that I found out my insurance required 1 year of doctor supervised diet. I was angry! How can an insurance company tell me that I haven't tried long enough. But instead of giving up, I decided I wanted to show the insurance company and make them pay. I figure that part of the 1 year idea is to discourage people out of the surgery altogether (saving them $ (at least in their heads). So, I went to the doctor. Started on phentramine and lost almost 30 pounds in 6 months. Only to regain 43 pounds over the last 6 months. I knew I was gaining weight back but was busy with life and had put surgery on the back burner. However, one day I got on the scale at work and saw the largest number I had ever seen. It was time to change. Everthing has moved quickly this year. I attended an informational meeting on 01/10/11, met with dietician and has psych eval on 01/24/11, met with surgeon on 02/04/11 and got my approval on 02/10/11. Surgery date is 03/08/11 and pre-op diet starts on Tuesday. I am lucky things have worked so well but now I would really like support from people who have been there or would like to go there with me. Thanks for listening!
  17. I had convinced myself I wasn't going to be approved so it wouldn't be as much of a let down (or so I had told myself). Your pre-op diet sounds close to mine. I will be on Bariatric Advantage meal replacement shakes. I can have 3 shakes with a frozen meal (under 320 calories) or 4 shakes a day. I am going with the 3 shakes and a Healthy Choice meal. I'm pretty sure I would miss chewing! I can also have snacks of veggies, sugar free jello and lettuce with wishbone salad spritzers. A friend from work just had bypass surgery last week with the same surgeon as i will have and lost 19 pounds on the pre-op diet. Wouldn't that be a blessing?! I had those same sneaky lbs! I don't have an ideal weight for myself. On the height & weight scale 100 lbs would be about right but that is not my goal right now. I will let you know how the diet goes. My family & I went out to a favorite mexican resturant for one last hurray. It was delicious! Thank you for the support and prayers. We will do this!!
  18. Isn't that approval exciting! I asked the lady to repeat herself twice to make sure I hadn't heard her wrong. So sorry to hear about your foot! I hope the time flies by quickly for you. I am kind of anxious to start my pre-op diet. I don't have to think about what i'm going to eat although i think the weekends will be the worst. I have 2 young kids whos plates I always seem to be sneaking a bite off. A great time to make the husband do all the cooking! lol
  19. Thanks everyone! I am most stressed about going through all this and not getting results I want/expect. I am a grazer. My success will depend greatly on not eating those little bites all the time. i love the support I have received on here. I keep checking back to see if anyone else has responded. I talk to my husband quite a bit about it but feel like I am monopolizing the conversation about 1 topic all the time and really like to hear from people who have been there or are going through it at the same time.
  20. My surgeon's office has me on Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement shakes (2 scoops of powder with 8 oz skim milk). I can have 3 shakes a day with 1 frozen meal under 320 calories (lean cuisine, etc). I can also have veggies (no dip) lettuce with wishbone spritzer salad dressing and sugar free jello. I start on Tuesday, Feb 22. During one of our classes with the dietician we got to try them before buying too. A little thick but not horrible. They are so complete that you do not need to take a multi-vitamin if you choose not to. Good Luck!

    Just got approved!

Congratulations! As much as you research & plan the call from the nurse with an actaul date makes it so real! I am scheduled for surgery on March 8, 2011. I start my pre-op diet of 3 meal replacement shakes and 1 frozen meal (under 320 calories) on Tuesday, Feb 22. I am planning on a "last supper" of sorts on Sunday. I know that my relationship with food must change and think of this as a type of good-bye.
