Pre-Diet
That sounds yummy, Woodslass. I have another bag of shrimp - I'll have to try that out next week. Tonight, I'm just dipping them in garlic butter. Went to Walgreens today and seriously considered buying a chocolate bar. I made it out without it *phew*.

Pre-Diet
***fist bumps her sister in Lapband*** (same doctor, almost same date) Yeah, I'm not eating anything with 33 carbs either. Right now, I'm probably taking in only 10 carbs a day, if that. I'm not very motivated to go through Atikins type recipes and such... mostly just eating scrambled eggs, bacon, string cheese, sliced sandwich ham and Crystal Light type drinks. I do have some shrimp defrosting and some t-bone steaks. I have very little appetite from going off some medication, and I planned to go off the medication at the start of my pre-diet to help me not stare and drool at all those things I cannot eat. I haven't scaled myself the last two days. Hopefully I have lost more.

Pre-Diet
Me too. 3 c-sections, gallbladder and two ankle surgeries... I'm totally not nervous about this surgery. As for husbands and helping, mine brought in a huge thing of Cookies on my second day of pre-diet. I threw it out the front door, I was so pissed. Well, honestly, I was pissy to begin with . Oh, and I ate one of the cookies before throwing them, so I got even more pissy (at myself). The cookie on my second day is the only time I've swayed from the pre-diet.

April 2011 Bandsters
We have our own forum, everybody! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forum/2480-april-2011-bandsters/ I just started my pre-op diet a few days ago. It's not a liquid diet, but rather and Atkins-like diet.

Pre-Diet
I'm glad your prediet is working out for you! I'm the opposite. I think I need the threat of major ouchies to keep me on track with a liquid diet. With the threat of pain, I can do anything, lol .

taking meds/after banding
My doctor discussed taking pills with me. He says that you don't want them to get stuck, so you need to crush them. Not just crush, but pulverize them so that there are no jagged corners that can stab you. I don't think we discussed how soon I could take them after surgery though. I'm only good for a day with missed medication though.

Pre-Diet
Hello all! Are we getting excited? Today I start my pre-diet. My doctor's office forgot to send me the instructions, and I have forgot to ask them for it, but I'm pretty sure I don't need it since I've discussed it in length with the nutritionist and doctor a bit ago. It was similar to Atkins, but you can eat some fruit? It doesn't matter about the fruit as I'm allergic to most of it anyway. When do you start your diet, and what does it entail?

Surgery
I will get there on Tuesday and leave Thursday. In and out as much as possible. I'm so excited to have met someone that's not only going to be banded at almost the same time as I, but also from the same doctor! Yay!

Surgery
Oh wow! We'll just miss each other! I did talk to the Dietitian 4 or so days ago. I had an appointment to talk to her, pretty much right after I had made the surgery appointment. I think you should call them and get a date and time worked out for her to call you. Be prepared for a loooong conversation when you do speak to her, lol. Are you local to Dr. K, or are you coming in long distance? I'm coming there from Wisconsin. I haven't got a hotel yet, but my flight and rental car is all worked out.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Just Got a Date!
Thank you, two. That's good to know! But I sucked it up and changed my date by a week so that a) I don't have to pre-op diet during my vacation to Las Vegas and my husband can come with me. I'm so very glad I wised up about it, especially after hearing you have to leave with someone! I'm hoping the surgery will be super easy for me. With my third c-section, I was up and walking right away and talked my doctor in discharging me within 24 hours of my surgery so I could attend my other child's preschool graduation. Here's to hoping, right? Thank you both again for replying!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Just Got a Date!
Hello, my name is Jennifer and I just got a date for surgery today! I'll be Lapbanding it up on March 23rd! I had a date before, back in 2007, but due to financial issues I canceled. No canceling this time! Unfortunately, I'll be in Vegas the week before and will be on the pre-op diet, so no yummy buffets for me, lol. And, since I'll be in Vegas the week before, my husband won't be able to get more time off of work to help me in Colorado, so I'm trying to think of someone to come with me, or a way I can do this on my own (ha!). Anyhow, I'm super excited.

March 2011 Bandsters
Hello, I just got off the phone from making my appointment. I'll be having surgery on the 23rd! This time, I'm going to actually do it. See, I had an appointment back in 2007 but money became an issue. I've got money in hand right now, so this time it's truly going to happen. I am a little disappointed that this is going to happen a week after I go to Las Vegas. See, me and my fat husband had planned on hitting up buffets while we were there, lol. That definitely won't work out too well with the pre-op diet! However, I rather "suffer" and not post-pone the surgery date. I'm not too worried about the pre-op diet as I was a Atikins pro back in the day. I'm all over it!

Dr. Jeffrey Baker - Dr. Baker is one of the best!
Were either of you self pay? I was wondering what he charges for Lap-Band. Thanks!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Thanks! I'm not going to give up all hope. I am seriously bummed though that I'll have to wait. Also, if I go with the "daddy" route, he's going to want me to go to Mexico as he's a firm believer in Mexico procedures. I'll have to see what I can do to change his mind on that. I'm sure I don't have to explain to you all my hesitations though. Okay, I'm off to go have a pity party.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
*sniff* I had to cancel my surgery. The lenders, the FHA jackasses, are going to make me pay off my car with the money, thus only leaving me 2-3k left. As we all know, that's a few thousand shy of what's needed to have surgery. I will see about getting a loan or something but that all can't be done till the refinance is over with. I might even go with the "beg my daddy" route but he's out to sea right now and I can't initiate the only-child beg until he's back, lol. It's going to rock not having to make a $376 car payment each month but it certainly won't be a nice as rocking a thinner body. *sigh*

Any one in NW WA
Thanks Wenjea! But yes, I am too far away. I'm in Stanwood, about 25-30 miles north of Everett. Sorry I'm not very chit-chatty in this thread. I'm normally quite a post whore, lol. I think the closer I get to the day, the more I'll get into the groove. Congrats to those who've had their surgeries and good luck to those who are due to go in soon!

PBS special "The Mormons" made me furious!
sweethot143, kudos to you for explaining your religion in such a calm and respectable manor. My views on Mormons and every other religion is that they're all filled with beliefs that are no crazier than the other. Christianity to Scientology to whatever, it's really all just as unbelievable as the next. So while some of the things here shock me, they do no more than information about another religion would. I don't think I would mind being baptized after death. I would mind if my record was changed from whatever I am now to Mormon. I may or may not be able to decide if I want to accept being Mormon after death but how do the living Mormons in the ceremony hear me? Or are no official records change..... just a little check by my name or something?

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Good nose indeed, LD! I've been reading all your replies... just not very motivated to post. I guess I'm in sort of a funk. I'll get out of it in a week or so... surely. I'm still waiting to sign papers. Hopefully Thursday. Once that is done, I'll buy the airline tickets. Even though I can get the $38 round trip, I'm not buying them until the refinance papers are signed. I can't wait to get the tickets, buy the hotel and car rental and to finish up buying all those things I'll need post-op. I did get the liquid Tylenol and the Flintstone Vitamins so far, lol. Oh, and tons of broth. I love broth... I'm going to do good on the liquid diet, I know it (are those famous last words?)!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Shesha, thanks for the information. I'm born, bred and still currently in the Seattle area. My husband grew up around Menomonie (Wheeler to be exact, I think). So the time has come for us to move there and be a part of his family's lives. The last time I was there (we go every year), I drove out to Wausau to meet up with several of my baby message board friends. LOL, the last time we went to Wisconsin, we went to the Mall of America. I was so livid that for all these years of going to the "kick'n" town of Menomonie, some of which we drove to from Seattle and right past the MOA, that we hadn't gone there before. Ugh, lol. Heck, even if we didn't drive to Wisconsin and past the MOA, it still was right across the damn street from the airport we used! I suppose deep fried cheese curds won't be something I'll be able to enjoy with the Lap Band, eh? lol
