  1. I'm sure there's some sort of "No Tampon" rule, but I'd disobey it and just cross my fingers that there wasn't any urgent business being done in my girl hole while I'm under, lol. I'd also tuck that string in, lol. Bad advice? I got plenty!
  2. Oh, I see in another post you said Wenatchee. That's definitely not my neck of the woods in WA, lol. Of course I've been there quite a few times though. Another thing, you said in the GTKY thread that you're having ticker problems. Here's a thread that might help you... http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/16043-how-to-get-a-ticker-in-your-signature/page__hl__ticker+help
  3. Hi kkf1979! I am going to have problems with this, too. With a husband and three growing boys, I've gotten in the habit of eating fast because if I didn't, I might not get a second helping, lol. My doctor suggested I practice eating slowly during my pre-op diet and, well, I never remember. Me thinks I'll have to suffer some consequences before I get the chewing thing right. Actually, I lie. Since I'm on an Atikins-like pre-op diet, I bought some peanuts and have been eating them one-by-one, slowly. Not so much to practice eating slowly, but so my treat lasts longer as I can't have too many or I'll eat too many carbs. They should give us pre-surgery shock collars to help us train better, lol.
  4. Hi Brenda! I grew up in WA and only moved away 3 years ago. I hailed from the N. Snohomish County area! Where are you having your procedure? I'm a traveling patient also; coming from Wisconsin to Colorado. Of course I'm not a doctor, but I think you'll be fine driving on the 8th. The question is whether or not you're messed up on pain meds, I think.
  5. Good to hear! Thanks for giving me the skinny on what goes down at the pre-op! Laxatives, huh? Not something a person with urgency issues wants to hear, lol. However, with this pre-op diet we're doing, things have definitely stopped, um, moving so easily. So maybe the laxative thing won't be as bad as I'm thinking it might me. I might get some of that today (like you, NOT the butt kind, lol) and see how it all works out and such, lol. Sounds like I should probably pick up some yeast infection treatment since we're going to take antibiotics. So the medications are all liquids?
  6. Hello April Losers! (get it - losers, as in pounds?) Please visit and bookmark our very own April 2011 forum here on Lapbandtalk! Here's the link! http://www.lapbandta...2011-bandsters/

  8. OOoooh! You know I'm interested in your pre-op as we have the same doctor. I was just going through all my information and getting it all sorted out in preparation of the trip/surgery. My pre-op is on your surgery day - I'm going to tell him that the person he fixed up earlier in the day was my friend . What were the three prescriptions he gave you (I want to look them up because I'm weird)? Is the picture thing something they do normally? I'm flying the very next day, lol. Two hour flight won't be too bad. Plus, I'll have my husband to do the lifting for me. And about the hiatal hernia thing - awesome!
  9. Hello EastEndMTBr! Yay for another April 6th bander! My pre-op diet is going well. Fortunately, I have quite an easy diet to follow and just have to do the Atkins diet. Lots of temptation, but I'm overcoming it. I just wrapped up and bunch of candy for a baby shower I'm hosting and managed to not slip even the tiniest bit in my mouth! Hello tmw41! I hear you on this. I am prepared to have a panic attack of sorts after surgery. With my last surgery, I had the big OATS thing done on my ankle which involved the doctor breaking it and months of crutches. I started to panic, thinking about how I can't go back (and that cast is stuck to me and I can't get it off), yadda yadda yadda. Hi emptyNest! I agree! I hope we become quite an active board, too! I know there's a lot of people on this entire message board that we can gain help and support from, but I think there's a little something extra special about getting familiar and friendly with those who are starting their new lives at the same time.
  10. Oh my, I'm impressed! And how awesome that you're already on board with the exercise bit, and love to do it! You're going to lose so much with this Lapband! I know the vegan community is great at helping each other with meal ideas. Perhaps, if you're not already, connect with a bunch of like minded eaters on FB and pick their brains for meal ideas?
  11. "Taxatuchetts" Bwaahahhahahah!
  12. Hi TerriF! Yah, I'd love to not have my shorts ride up, too! And like others, it's been a while since I've crossed my legs. And clothes shopping... maybe I'll buy some girl shirts when I get smaller. Currently, I wear mens 2x plain t-shirts because they're wide enough to go around my gut without showing my rolls, and hangs down long enough to cover my rolls! I informed my husband last night that when I hit my 130 goal, I'm going to get my skin fixed and my boobs perky. Of course he was on board with that .
  13. I am in an almost similar situation. I'm hosting my sister in-law's baby shower two weeks post-op. I will have to tell everybody that I'm on a liquid diet, or something, as I won't be eating any of the fancy two-tiered cake I made, or any of the food I laid out for everybody, lol. Fortunately, we won't all be seated down restaurant style, and as host, I can serve or clean up while people eat and probably get by without anybody noticing I'm not touching anything .
  14. I went to EvCC too! For almost 2 years, lol. I just learned that some people, who live near Massachusetts, call people from Massachusetts "Massholes". I laughed out loud when I read that. What a funny play on a state name, lol. Yes, staying alive for your family is great reason. My father dying on me and my children has been the worst thing in the world for me, and I don't want to put my children through such heartbreak. He wasn't very overweight at all, but still died because he took such lousy care of himself.
  15. Everett you say? That's exactly my old stomping grounds! I've lived in several cities nearby, but in Everett I lived near the mall, and in North Everett!

    Congratulations!
  17. Congrats on the great compliment! You must feel like a million bucks!
  18. Nah, not crazy, lol. I'm currently worried about all these gas pains people have after surgery. I'm reading conflicting reports on whether or not Gas-x works, but just in case, I bought some of the dissolving strips. I'm flying from Wisconsin to Colorado for my surgery, and the last thing I want is to be uncomfortable on the plane. .
  19. Hello April Bandsters, I thought I'd start a fun post where we can get to know each other better! I have 3 boys (15, 12 and 7) and one husband. I grew up and lived in WA my whole life, up until 2008, when I moved to Wisconsin. It is also probably noteworthy that I have 6 parrots, lol. I have a Greenwing Macaw, a Blue and Gold macaw, 3 Amazons and one Congo African Grey. I battle adding to my flock each day, but I think 6 is plenty, lol. I collect a few things. Not the usual collections, I suppose, lol. But it does make thrift store shopping more fun!... tupperware keychains (love them for some reason, lol) Cheesy souvenir plates Parrot items (duh?) Crab and fishing items (my dad, may he rest in peace, was boat owner and skipper, just like you see on the Deadliest Catch show ) Vintage Pyrex dishes (pastel solid colors or primary solid) Lets see, what else can I say? Oh, one of the reasons I need to lose weight fast is my ankle. It wasn't weight that brought my ankle issues on, but it certainly isn't helping. I have had two ankle surgeries, the biggest one was called an OATS procedure. They drilled out the worst defect in my talus and filled it in with cadaver talus material. Anyhow, the surgery helped, but it only buys me time until more action needs to be made. Ankle replacements aren't done on people my age since they are only good for 10 years and you can only have it replaced twice. I'm 34, so that won't work. My only other option, should my ankle crap out, is having it fused. I don't want that and the knee and hip issues that will eventually cause. The idea of being more crippled than I already feel, is kinda scary. And of course, I want to lose weight to feel better about myself, and to be healthier. So, what about you? Care to share some random facts about yourself?
  20. You can do it though! Is it the surgery that has you nervous, or just the whole life change in general? For the surgery, maybe you can discuss with your doctor your fears, and he/she can help you out with that a bit. There's a lot of different medications that can help you calm down. If it's the whole thing in general, maybe try to keep your eye on the prize, and think about how wonderful you'll feel, how good you'll look, and all the hundreds of positives. Let us help squash that fear for you. <3
  21. Hello Tia! While my diet doesn't seem to be as difficult, I'd take your diet too. Any diet. Heck, I'd probably have the motivation to starve myself for 2 weeks, just to get this surgery, lol.
  22. MountainMama, thanks for the words of encouragement! And look at yer ticker! You're rockin' the band! I hope to do the same!
  23. Hello all! Please don't forget we have our very own forum, the April 2011 Bandsters. We can make all sorts of different posts about all sorts of different topics! Please, swing on in! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forum/2480-april-2011-bandsters/
