Red Zone?
First, it is between you and your Dr. Second, you sound like you're all over the place, inconsistant. Water but not coffee? What else for Breakfast? Baked potatoe...for me, NEVER in one year! Having trouble right after fill with shake could be inflammation, which your dr should warn you about. That's why liquids. Potatoe chips, have never had a problem in a year...that's why they're not in my house! Again, between you and your Dr. If it was me I would slow it down, eat safe foods with no drinking, eat slowly, and take note time of day my band is tighter than others, which it is.

Last Supper
I had to loose 15 lbs before surgery, or he would postpone the date. My surgery was on a Monday morning. I had my final meeting, weigh in with the surgeon the Friday before. All went well. Saturday, I had my last meal. I wanted to go somewhere I would never go to again. A all you can eat Chinese Buffet! I pigged out! That was a Saturday, so Sunday I fasted, no food at all except maybe one shake in the morning. Monday was surgey! That was over a year ago, have never been back there again. Why would I? What pay the money for one small portion?

Does Stress Cause The Band To Tighten
I have given up on what causes the band to get tighter and looser. I have heard every reason under the sun. Temperature, barometric pressure, stress, PMS, illness, etc, etc. I will say it happens to me. ALWAYS tighter first thing in the morning. Only thing I have proven to my self is the more I exercise it by eating, it gets looser. If I give it a rest by not eating solids for a while, it tightens right back up.

New And Have A Question
I drink a lot of water. But I cannot gulp it down like I used to. One swallow at a time, and NEVER with food.

Just Back From Dr. Appointmet
Thanks, we seem to be in the same boat. I'm hoping this small fill will gt me at and prerhaps my goal. Then maybe I will not need another fill for a long time, if ever. I really am happy where I'm at right now, being comfortably in that "Green Zone" day after day, but why not go a little further.

Just Back From Dr. Appointmet
Just got back from my appointment, first time in 3 months. Since my last visit, I lost 5 Lbs.! WooHoo!! He was very impressed with the the way I look and how my progress is going over the last 12 months. After one year, I am less than 10lbs from my goal. (chk my before/after in profile) so weight loss slows way down. Fat is not as prevalent as before. If you go by BMI's alone, I need to loose another 30 lbs. That's BS I said, he laughed and agreed. BMI's are only good to a point, then you have to start looking at body type and Body Fat %. He asked all the usual questions, how's your portion size, hunger between meals, etc, etc. I really didn't feel like I needed a fill, based upon his questions/criteria, but he gave me 1/2 cc fill just to see what happens.

Hi! I'm On Day Two Of My Pre Surg Liquid Diet!
Sounds like a cliche, but follow your Dr.'s directions. You don't want to spoil it now. Many Dr.'s are different. Mine didn't care what diet I followed, just loose 15 lbs in 2 weeks or he would postpone the surgery. Just so happens that Protein shakes work the best. Protein curbs hunger along with plenty of Water.

New Member To The Forum!
Welcome.... I would only suggest....to be advised there are opinions here that range from the most negative to the most positive, and you have to learn to "Chew the meat and spit out the bones" so to speak. It may take a while to discern those who just don't get it, and those who do. Be careful of "Know It Alls" giving expert opinions when they are still newbies themselves and don't have a clue what they're talking about, only that is what they were told. I only say this because there are people I know who have come here, and then, within time, have left! Good Luck!

The Journey Begins.
Depends upon your POV. I have a little sarcastic, humerous viewpoint, things they never tell you sort of stuff, or "You've got to be kidding!" Ironicly, after 1 year it all did make sense, in a distorted kind of way, and now I have to laugh when I read the majority of posts here by newbies. It's like getting thrown into the deep end of the pool before you know how to swim. Everybody told you how it will be, but there YOU are.

I Just Need To Vent And Could Use Some Encouragement
I'm surprised you are experiencing all this so close to surgery. Issues with overheating usually don't affect people till after their 1 st fill, some later. I do not worry about the portion size of food I eat. The band does that for me. I get to a point and I know it is time to stop. If I was to measure it, it would the same, if not less, than what is recommeneded. But for those recently banded and those not in the Green Zone, you do not have the proper restriction to get this feedback, so you do need to measure and count calories.

What Do You Do When Food Is Stuck Or Doesn't Agree With You?
Sit and wait it out. If it is severe, I will start to hiccup first. Then start sliming. You know then it's coming back up. To speed it up, sip water at that point.

Why Denied???
Yes....appeal. When you have comorbidities, as you do, you follow a different scale than other people.

3 Days Po Advice
PLEASE!!!! don't get hung up over loosing weight right now. This is only Phase 1. It's all about you recovering from surgery, getting back to"Normal", as you were before surgery. Then you can progress into the next Phase. I know everyone is anxious, I was to. But I can tell you from experience it is a process and when everything comes together, you will not believe the results.

I Need Some Advice...
I can't comment on the size of your band versus how much it is filled etc. That aside, you are not describing anything uncommon. Having a fill during surgery will usually subside because the surgey inflammation. Also people who get restriction initially, usually loose it. It can take some tweaking before it is right. Even when one is in the green zone, as I am, the band can be tighter on some days, and other days I feel as though I could eat anything. I have learned to live with these fluctuations, and can even control them by the types of food I eat. So you either need an additional fill(s) or you should lay off solid foods for a few days.

What Are You Goals With The Lap Band?

Working Out After 12-Hour Shifts
It's been a while for me, but once I did. I belonged to a gym that had all the extras. After along shift, I'd get off work at 7 am,go to the gym and workout,THEN sit in the sauna to slow cook all the muscles, sweat out the impurities, and THEN soak in the whirlpool/hot tub!!!! HEAVEN!! After that it was breakfast ata diner, then home to bed! It really felt great. I almost miss those days.

Diet Slip Up
Untill you are comfortably in that Grenn Zone, everything you do is on your effort. And if you're anything like me, I cannot do it on my own. That's why I needed WLS. So what else can some expect?

What Am I Doing Wrong? Constructive Adivce Needed :)
I'm old school - calories in versus calories burned. I am not a believer in the "Starvation Mode", at least not in the same context people loosley use it around here. Seems like you have the calories burned under control. Cut back your intake. Plus, with the amount of excercising you are doing, your body is "toning" up. I hit the gym evry day and my weight loss has slowed way down, but on the other hand my clothes are fitting better. I have access to a body fat % scale, and although my weight loss has slowed, my Fat index is steadily dropping. Having the band properly adjusted does not equate to weight loss directly, but when properly adjusted it controls portion size and appetitie control, meaning it restricts calorie intake resulting in weight loss, provided one burns calories also. But I am close to my goal and things are slightly different now.

Passport Photo!
Thanks, that was what I was thinking also. Just throwing it out there in case someone had a problem. If i wanted to renew mine, I would have to do it now for travel in the spring.

Psych Evaluation Scheduled, Then My Doctor Will Submit To Bcbs!
No, that sounds about right. They just want to be sure you're responcible, know what and why you are getting into this. Make sure you're not just looking for some vain cosmetic fad thing, or that you have self destructive tendencies, etc. abusive with laxitives, etc, etc. Just want to be sure you're a stable sane normal person. I'm 60 years old, and I am a product of the 60's. So when the subjetc cane around to drug abuse, I shared some things. She would not let up on it, kept coming back to it. Finally I said Hey! I was 18 y/o, it was 1969! Give me a break! She burst out laughing and agreed with me!

How Did You Reward Yourself?
Being the new me is the best reward one can have. Getting dressed in the morning and looking into the mirror, I am rewarded all the time, every day!! New clothes were a neccessity. Even my feet got smaller. My energy level has quadrupled! My Health! My self esteeem! Socail Behaviour! I'm 60 years old and I feel like I'm 35! And this will go on everydfay for the rest of my life!! What can I possibly do that would be a better reward than that?

Passport Photo!
After loosing so much weight, we have been looking at "Before and After" pictures, Then joked about it looks like another person on my driver's liscense. But then I though about my Passport. I don't look anything like that person anymore. We will be traveling this spring. I'm not sure if this will be a problem or not. I'm sure they are experienced and grained enough to expect these circumstances. Generally a passport ID trumps other forms of ID, but now, I think I will have to carry additional ID with me, and maybe some proof of the surgery. Any thoughts? Any customs or homeland security people out there?

Drinking Durning Meals
Once you have good restriction, food wiil accumulate in your pouch while eating, and you will have to stop eating at some point. Automatic Portion Control, part of being in the Green Zone. So, drink water on top of that....and you will learn why real quick, and you will never do it again.

Im Finally Legal Again....
I now look like nothing like my photo's on my driver's liscence and my passport. We'll be traveling in June. Wonder if this will be a problem
