  1. Good luck to you! I have to stay the night so I probably won't be able to check in till Tuesday afternoon. How did your diet go? I cheated one time when I got so weak I felt slightly faint. Lost 25 pounds.
  2. My time has come. Gonna get cut Monday morning. Just today, I started getting a little nervous but it has mostly passed already. Checked my glucose level and it is a little high but I have always heard stress will do that. Who else is getting done tomorrow?
  3. I get Centrum chewables from Wal Mart. They are orange flavored.
  4. The purpose of the preop diet is too shrink your liver since the DR has to work around it. That is what my doctor told me and I have talked to others who said the same thing.
  5. Best of luck Bob! My surgery date is the day before yours. I don't know what to tell you about eating. It might be something the nurses brief you on before leaving the hospital.
  6. Did/are any of ya'll having a vena cava filter put in or a EGD? I had both done, the filter by choice. Just wondering because if so it will delay your surgery date a couple weeks or so.
  7. I finished day 7 of my diet. And you are right it can be so difficult. But I haven't cheated yet. McDonalds is looking pretty good right about now! Good luck to you!
  8. Thanks for sharing! That is very inspirational!
  9. Five days of my liquid diet (without cheating) and I am down 13 pounds as of this morning. Lot of it is water I am sure but it still feels nice. I am one of those who weighs everyday because it motivates me if the scales creep upward. Thanks to all for the good info I have received on this forum!
  10. I am with you brother. I can't imagine the pain will be any worse than the pain I have had from diabetes complications. Bring it!
  11. Cyn I have the opposite problem of you! Things are a little juicy. Seems we are reacting to the Protein differently. Your diet sounds like mine except I only get 3 shakes a day. Good luck!
  12. I have the opposite problem. When I look in the mirror I see a stud. Then someone shows me a photo of myself and I see fat ass. I wouldn't think you would need counseling though. Probably just not used to your new body. BUT, I haven't even been banded so I can't really understand what your talking about. Not sure why I even posted.
  13. Yep I know about the protein. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to do me much good. Doc has me on three protein shakes per day.
  14. Like you I am on day 4 and my headaches have gone a way as well. I did have some hunger pains today though and I still have loose things coming out the exhaust. I also noticed that when I went outside and did some yard work and played with the dogs I was sweating very much. Just can't get Taco Bell out of my head!
  15. If you have sleep apnea I would suggest you use a cpap. It is not worth the risk of a stroke in my opinion. I was told to bring my cpap for use after surgery during recovery. During surgery you will have other things stuck up your nose.
  16. I am diabetic too and what I have done is eat lo carb and make sure I get my Protein. I haven't been banded yet so I don't know how that will change for me. But if I have to get my protein through shakes and "Atkins" type Snacks, that is what I will do.
  17. Hello! I am also diabetic and hypothyroid so I know the problems those things can cause as far as weight go. Good luck to you.
  18. Wow! You have been through a lot already. All I know to say is this..... I finally admitted to myself that I could not lose weight on my own after years of trying and failing. I also have diabetes and the complications have started to show. So yes, I would follow through with the surgery if it was me. Maybe you could postpone it until you are sure you are completely healed.
  19. Hi there. What do you mean you were excited? What have you seen that has changed your outlook?
  20. I find it interesting how different doctors have different pre-op diet requirements.
  21. I also have a headache since I quit eating. I am hoping it will go away after my body adjust. I started Sunday night so I have only completed two days. There has also been a little looseness down south if you know what I mean.
  22. That sounds like a pretty good idea. I think I will mix veg and a cube and put it in the crock pot.
  23. Thanks. I just got back from the store with some chicken broth. I added some seasonings to it and it was pretty good. Better than Jello. The salt made a big difference I think.
