October Bandsters!!!
Glad things have gone well for you. I had a lot of swelling in my stomach and, for some reason, my arms. But it all subsided in a few days.

Calling all cooks
Okay I have these Tilapia fillets in my fridge. Is there any way to microwave them? I have been baking them and they are good but I am already sick of the dish cleaning. Was hoping there was an alternative way of cooking them with the microwave....... Less mess and worry, I hope. Yes I am a bachelor!

I am looking forward to some catfish and squash! Putting the fork down will be easy, chewing, not so much as I have noticed I tend to swallow while I chew.

October Bandsters!!!
Best of luck to all of you being newly banded. I am 8 days post op and I have made it so you can to! The thing you always hear about walking a lot is no joke. It really does help. If they give you pain meds go ahead ahead and take them. No point in being in pain if you don't have to. I gained a lot of fluid weight after surgery but it came off in about 3 days. Also my blood sugar went up into the 270's but it also came down in about 2 days. Just some tips from my experience..............

October Bandsters!!!
Banded on the 3rd and doing okay. Haven't had any gas pain for a few days and then this afternoon a new one reared it's head. I have been walking and riding my exercise bike everyday and I figure that has helped. Still sore but my incisions look like they are doing well.

A note about DERMABOND
Thanks for the info. That is exactly what my doctor told me. I am 5 days out and don't have any itching, yet..........

October Bandsters!!!
The preop diet was very hard for me also. I did cheat once and eat a small hamburger and I really regret it. The postop diet is much easier (banded on Monday) so far. Hang in there because you can do it! Don't let yourself down like I did.

Still the fat one at the table-really?
As fat as I am, I can always go to Wal Mart and see several people much worse than I. Some of that has to do with the fact that I live in Mississippi and we are the fattest state in the USA.

I'm getting talked out of Surgery on Obesity Help
I just got banded Monday so I really don't know much or have any experience. But, there are two things I DO know......... After 15 years of being a fat ass I finally admitted I could not lose the weight on my own............. I did not want to do something drastic that would permanently alter my digestive system and could not be reversed. So I went with the band.......fwiw

I had gas pain in my left shoulder for about 48 hours. It actually was kinda painful but it mostly just hurt when I breathed in deeply. Haven't had any problem in the last 2.5 days.

I have had a lot of gas down south and almost none up north. Funny thing is that the few times I feel like I need to burp I can't. Anyone else have this feeling?

October Bandsters!!!
Hey everybody, I got banded Monday morning. I had a lot of post-op pain until about Wednesday morning and then things begin to calm down to what I would assume is a normal level of pain. I literally could not get up and down out of chair without help. But time and Lortab have been a blessing in that regard. The Dr. let me go home late Tuesday afternoon and I stayed the night at my parents house. They were a Godsend in helping me out (I'm single). I am on a clear liquid, sugar free diet for a week and then back to the Dr. There has been lots of farting but almost zero burping. My wounds appear to be doing just fine and I have been walking and drinking a lot of water. The therapist also has me using one of those little portable breathing machines where you practice inhaling deeply about 10 times a day. My Dr. glued me back together instead of stitches. I have five incisions on my stomach. The largest is about 2.5 inches long. The port is four inches above and slightly to the left of my belly button. They shaved my stomach and I am feeling very "metrosexual" right now. As far as my diabetes goes my glucose levels have been high. They hovered between 200-250 while in the hospital and have been running and 150-160 at home. Small doses of insulin help bring it down but I am off of all of my oral meds (diabetic) per Dr. orders. Of course I am crushing all of my other meds and so far it has not been the problem I thought it might. They don't tastes so bad. Right now I am feeling pretty good..... but those first couple of days I was having some doubts about my decision. The funny thing is that I have actually gained six pounds since my surgery. Retaining lots of fluid I suppose...... Good luck to all of you!
