  1. I am 5 weeks post op. It does get better. I remember feeling the same way you do. It is a huge change for your body and you have to learn everything over again. I am not diabetic and I had trouble with my blood sugar getting to low. I had a 1/2 cup of orange juice in the morning and a 1/2 cup at night. Just for some Vitamin C and to help with the sugars. I noticed a big difference in a couple days cause my body was able to regulate itself again. It is such a long process. All you want is that "Normal feeling" you just have to adjust to your new "Normal." I am fortunate to be a stay at home mom and I didn't have to worry about going back to work. I totally feel for you. Just give it time and if you can take more time off work then it might be a good idea to give your body more time to heal. I was one of the "lucky ones" and had to stay on a liquid diet for 4 weeks post op cause my stomach wasn't healing as fast as others. Everyone is different and some just need a little more time. But the best of luck to you!!! It does get better!!!!!

  2. Oceangirl,

I am 5weeks out from surgery. It took me 2 weeks to feel somewhat normal. I also had hiatal hernia repaired and most of the pain was form that healing. All I can say is just take it one day at a time. It will get better. I also had a problem on week 3 with something getting stuck and I threw up for a week. I had to have a upper GI done cause they thought my band had slipped. Everyones journey is a little different. I wish you the best of luck. I can sympathize with you on worring cause I was the excat same way. I always called my Dr and called my mother n law cause she is a RN. I was reaching out to everyone I could think to! I should of listened to my husband and just relaxed and took it one day at a time. Another thing that could help is checkin out a support group. It is nice to speak to someone in person who has been through the same thing you are going through! I don't get on here as often as I would like to. I perfer to talk to someone in person. It is a little more personal and kind of reassuring.. I hope you are getting better and better everyday. Best of luck!!!

  3. Tonight was going good until I got these horrible stomach pains. I am on mushie foods. I encountered the "slime." I wanted to throw up so bad. I had a scrambled egg for dinner about 730pm. The stomach pains and nasty feeling started around 9pm. It is 1040pm and I still feel like crap. Of course I have every horrible senerio running through my mind. I had the heeves and slime twice. They were about 15 or 20 minutes apart. That was between 9 and 920... I just don't know what to think of it. I do have pains in my chest. I had pressure in my throat and the back of my toungue hurt. It was so wierd. Like I said I still feel horrible. I have the chills, I think that is nerves mostly. I feel dehydrated but don't feel like I can drink cause I don't think I could put anything in my mouth. I want to throw up cause I think I could feel better but nothing comes up. I don't think I have ever been stuck before. For all I know I could be experiencing that now. ?????? If anyone has any advice or anything please share.....

  4. I know what you are going through!! The 3rd day was the WORST!! I too was regretting what I did to myself but day by day it WILL get better! I know your reading this right now thinking… "I don't want to wait a few days!! I want this pain gone now and I want to feel normal again!" I know because that is what I was thinking on day 3! (To tell you the truth I was thinking I should just go back to the doctor and demand him to take it out!!) But I promise it will get better and you WILL get through this!! Don't you dare give up! You are strong and you will feel normal again! I got banded on Jan 10, 2011 (Just 3 weeks ago!) and I feel normal again… I felt "normal" DAYS ago!! Hold your head high, you will feel like you again!!

Thank you very much for your encouraging words. It means alot to hear that someone was feeling the same way I am. I am trying to hold my head high. It was a tough day today. I am on day 4. I had a hernia repaired and I am having the most uncomfortable pain from it. It still hurts to take deep breathes and I get this shooting pain in my left shoulder! I am taking th pain meds even though they are nasty (liquid vicodin.) Tonight I vomited. Only nothing came up. I belched alot. But felt really sweaty and dizzy! ?? Feel ok now. Just trying to take it one day at a time!!

  5. Oh God I wish I could burp like that. My gas stays trapped up and causes alot of discomfort and pain. I take bean-o but it doesn't seem to work. So for those of you who can burp...you're lucky!!!

I am 3 days post op and I have a horrible time burping! I feel like I need to and I feel that it will make me feel better if I did. But I just can't make it happen. I am still so bloated! The pressure is unbearable at times!!!!

  6. Gas X strips did nothing for me. To relieve the pressure, I walked & walked around the house & i lived with the heating pad. That helped me greatly, especially at night. Seemed to keep it all moving. Here's a thought on the pain where the band might be...stop pressing to see if you feel it. LOL Seriously i laugh when i read this one because it reminds me of the joke that goes..."Doctor doctor, my finger hurts when i poke something. And the doctor goes...well stop poking things with it then". I do realize that might not be what you mean by feeling it though, but i just thought it a little funny tonight. No offense....hehe The band is in there, it isn't going anywhere. Things are swollen in there. They've been manipulated & pulled, banded and they need to heal.

    Hope you feel better soon!

No offence taken. I am not pressing on it. Its what I feel when I sit down. I get sharp pains and its really uncomfortable. I am gonna try the heating pad. I walk as much as I can. I constantly feel like I have to burp but nothing comes up. Thanks for your advice!

  7. I am trying to find the strength to get through the pain. I am only 3 days post op. I find myself regretting what I have done. I have alot of pain on my left side and I can feel like I can feel the band. It is so different. If any of you have any advice please share. Any tricks that made you feel a little better. The pressure is the worst for me right now..

    Thanks!

Thank you all for your encouraging words and advice. I am gonna try the Gas X. Never thought of it! I am up and moving as much as I can. It has been really uncomfortable for me today. I am trying to keep my eye on the prize!!

    Thanks again

  8. Hey everyone!

My Name is Brayleigh and just wanted to say im SO EXCITED TO BE ON THIS JOURNEY WITH ALL OF YOU! I hope to learn a lot and apply it in my daily life. If anyone would like to share there experience with LapBand so far, like how much weight you lost in the first month, what was your pain tolerence after surgery, what workouts are best, the best foods to eat, and over all how your feeling. That would be great!

I am 3 days post op. I am struggling with the pain and the way I feel. I have some regrets but friends say it will pass. I really hope it does because before surgery I was so excited for change. I wish you the best. I have already lost more weight since I have had the surgery. I just can't wait to feel like myself again and then I know I will be able to embrace the changes I have made.
