    I am not a success story...yet.
I have lost about 50 pounds in 5.5 months. Sometimes I still think I can eat too much, and I wish I had the VSG. Other times I have great restriction and few cravings and love my plicated stomach. I still think it is the safest WLS there is if you stay in the states. I can eat anything I want. I just eat less. I feel great, and don't have any pain or problems at all. I want to lose about 50 more pounds. When I reach that 100 pound loss, and maintain that, then I will consider myself a success.

Yesterday was my one month "surgiversary" I am down 16 pounds since surgery and 27 pounds since pre-op diet. I was hoping for a little more weight loss in the first month, but I feel good. I get full on small amounts of food, and don't have the junk food cravings that I did before. I never had any pain or nausea to speak of. My incisions are tiny, and I don't notice them at all. I don't have any heart-burn. I attribute this to Dr. Watkins fixing my hiatal hernia. I am a happy girl, and I am hopeful that I can reach my goal of dropping 100 pounds in one year. I think I lost about the same amount of weght when I was on weight watchers, but the difference is that I am going to actually keep it off this time!

I have been taking multi-vitamins daily for about 10 years, so it's nothing new. My Mom swears that her flush free niacin has helped her drop weight, so I started to take that too.

    Hey,
    Thanks for the kind replies.
I also wanted to add that I am getting in some cardio, and I usually have anywhere from 900-1200 calories a day. I am finding it hard to get my Water in since I don't drink with my meals or for an hour after my meals. I also find it weird that sometimes I feel like I can eat regular portions, and other times I have about three bites and I am stuffed.

:rolleyes:no kidding.....you can't even mention that there are known VSG risks and problems without someone giving her 2 cents.
If a surgery nearly killed me, I am pretty sure the normal reaction would be to think "what the hell have I done." Oh no....we can't say ANYTHING negative about VSG though. Geeesh, that's a little ridiculous!

Nobody who decides on plication plans on getting it reversed. Obviously you would gain weight if you reversed it. The benefit is that if you decided on another WLS in the future, or needed a bigger stomach for some strange reason, you have not burned any bridges. No doctor or patient does plication thinking that they will reverse it though. I am not 100% sure that I made the right choice with plication as I am only 2 weeks out. I don't have any regrets yet though. I bet people with VSG who have had leaks or absorbtion issues are not 100% sure that they made the right choice either. It is a hard choice with pros and cons for both. Best of luck on your VSG!

He did have a recent problem with one of his patients. He was honest about that. He shared his opion. Isn't that what forums are for? Again-He had nothing to gain by his post.

if you read my post you would have known she (michelle/midwesterngirl/wasabubblebutt) is a troll. I have known that since researching plication. I got some info on her from Ortiz office that was comical.
Best of Luck to everyone on your WLS choices. I know I am only one week out, but so far I like my plicated stomach.

    FYI:
I had gastric plication surgery by Dr. Watkins one week ago. I feel great! I have lost 9 pounds since my plication. I know this will slow down when I am back to eating solids, but I am very happy with my plication. I do have some fears of complications that may happen in the future. I would have these fears with any WLS though. I was shocked and upset when I read on here that Dr. Watkins is having concerns about GPS just days after I had my surgery. He did call me in person to tell me this, as He knew I would read it on the board and be shocked. He explained to me that He wants to find out more about why some people are having the problems, and others do great.
    My 2 cents:
Does Dr. Watkins use this message board for free advertising? Yes probably.
Is that worse then hiring trolls to come on here and bad mouth other Dr.'s and do their advertising for them? No
Do I think Dr. Watkins is a good Dr.? Yes
regarding him having time to post on here. Seriously... It does not take that long to post on here. Doctors are just people with jobs. I don't think they are any more busy then a Mother of three who works, takes care of her kids, keeps a clean house and a happy husband. And I still have time to post on here. To imply that any good doctor does not have time to post on a message board is idiotic.
I think Dr. Watkins felt he had an obligation to post his recent findings about GPS on this board and to his patients. He has been giving so much good information about it, and probably felt it was only fair to also post the bad information. He had nothing to gain from posting his recent problem with GPS surgery.
People who choose GPS are self pay at this point. Nobody spends that kind of money without doing a lot of research. To imply that we are dumb, and the doctors who do them are "bottom feeders" makes it clear that you Michelle are a troll. Lori from Ortiz office told me about that little stunt you tried to pull. laughable!

great, typical for this information to become available 3 days after my plication.
I knew there were risks, as with any surgery, but "several reports of perforation." That is scary. I am having very little pain, but I am still scared now.
