  1. I'm normally 28 days just started my first post-op at 40 days. Hopefully this is just a reaction to the surgery and I go back to normal v after this.

    Isopure

Its gross and the aftertaste is pure whey, like it tastes the way milky baby vomit smells.
  3. You don't have to be in ketosis to lose weight. Not everyone is a puritan.

    Second Thoughts

I was having second thoughts as they wheeled me into the OR. Its normal. I haven't hit the regret or wtf did I do to myself phase yet.

    Second Thoughts

You can eat around your sleeve, so if you lose a bunch of weight and are desperate to get fat again, there is hope. Otoh, look at it this way...every meal can feel like thanksgiving feast and be less than half a cup. I had the same fears, like will eating be some weird, painful, disgusting experience but was pleasantly surprised at how quickly things start to feel normal. everything works as it did before. I'm sure at a year out I wont even know the difference. If you have any doubts, don't do it. Go to a shrink and work on your food issues first. When you're ready to hit it with xena intensity, it will be time. I'm just shy of 4 weeks out so my opinion is suspect as I haven't had any stuck or dumping experience yet.

    Who can beat this?

I'm sorry but I do not understand this.

    BIG FAT PEOPLE!

I think obesity is more complicated and physiological than simple food addition. The mere fact that ghrelin removal has such a dramatic impact on hunger drive only emphasizes this. If you're truly a food addict thats good you can identity it and work through it. But that doesn't mean one person's circumstances apply to all or that if someone says they're not an addict that they're in denial. Bad habits/socialization and disordered eating are factors as well. Just my thoughts

    Learning What Full Is.

I've measured my mush by 1/4 cup. By the end of the first week on mushies, I could up it to 1/2 cup on some things. I eat a 6oz cup of greek yogurt without issues and 1/2 c of cottage cheese, but that seems to be the sweet spot because I can just finish it and have no desire for more. I have not had any mushie meats. It sounds gross to me. Plus, I tried tuna on my first day of mushies and it came right back up.

    Any March Sleevers?

I'm eating mostly yogurt and cottage cheese since I barfed on tuna (1/4 cup blenderized with nayo). I figured an extra week on semi-liquids wouldn't hurt. I eat 1/4-1/2 cup cottage cheese. Well, at the begining of the week 1/4 cup was all I could do but now I can do 1/2 if its liquidy. Ive also been doing 6 oz cup of greek yogurt 0%. That goes down very easy. I tried a 1/2 cup of lentil soup with 1oz of goat cheese. It went down fine but just didnt float my boat taste wise (mostly water). Hummus goes down fine but gives me heartburn. I need some help menu wise to start getting in more fiber. I am on mushies/soft foods until my next appointment.
  12. I haven't lost anything since my one week appointment but my pants are getting smaller. I know I am holding on to water weight because I haven't been getting in all of my water. Plus I am constipated. So I'm hoping next week it breaks. This weekend I am going to be pushing the fluids. I just hate feeling full/like I am eating/drinking all the time.

What does your daily diet consist of?

I'm almost 3 weeks out and I am still figuring it out. I can cook but I am a bit lost. I'm also a chicken so I keep it simple. Today I ate: Breakfast: Greek yogurt (smooth kind, vanilla) 6 oz Lunch: Greek yogurt, 6 oz Dinner: My first time, I got the TB pintos and cheese. I ate it all. I have not been to TB in years and I do not like FF. I blame you people No really, it was really smooth and decent, so I thank you all for that lovely idea. 9g of Protein too. I will try to get in at least one muscle milk and maybe another yogurt or glass of milk to round out my protein for the day. I have been eating a lot of cottage cheese but for some reason I end up stopping a little over a 1/4 cup. Last night I was able to do 1/2 cup over a longer period. I've tried hummus on my cottage cheese but it gives me heartburn right now.

    Vet's Forum

Just my two cents as a noob... I think of a veteran as someone who is entering maintenance, or who is 9 months or more out and working on losing when the restriction eases up. The logic of a few months past that 6 month point works for me in that even people who have longer to go are likely to still be facing some ofthe same physical issues that thosr in maintenance are. I would imagine most veteran issues to revolve around transitioning to more "normal" eating patterns and how to maintain the loss without being completely neurotic. The last thing a vet needs is a noob telling them protein first and no soda. I dont think post count should be a factor at all. One day ill get to graduate to the vet forum. I think its a grest idea.
  15. Even if you had surgery in Mexico, you can still get help here. I would think any program would allow you to join just for nutritional follow-ups? You'd have to pay for it but if it helps keep you on track that's good???

    Dr Garcia SPIDER TECHNIQUE

That's one of my surgeons, Dr. Q. They're great. I didnt consider the spider because it takes longer and I was more worried about nausea and such from being under longer. My scars are healing to the point they won't be noticeable so I dont regret opting for the normal route. But I think this is a great option if you scar badly. Just make sure you go to a surgeon that has done this technique before.
  17. You should complain to the director and include medical information from actual medical journals so they educate the nasty witch. Dont let this pass you by. We fat folks need to advocate for ourselves. Even if we get smaller there will be others after us who get treated just as bad.

    Greek Yogurt Recs?

Fresh & easy vanilla, 120 cals, 0 fat, 15 carbs/12 sugar, 15 Protein. I don't find it overly sweet and its not too carby.
  19. I wish I was with you. Now that I am on soft foods, it seems like I do nothing but est, drink, take vitamins. It takes awhile to eat too because i have no hunger or desire to eat snd I get bored half way through. How much soft food are you eating? I eat a 6oz Greek yogurt over 30-45 mins (sometimes maybe longer) mostly because I am working while I eat. It goes down not quite as fast as liquids but it does slide for me pretty quickly. No psin or feelings of clogs or turkey dinner fullness. Cottage cheese doesn't and I've only been doing a quarter cup with a tbsp of hummus.

    Any March Sleevers?

I found a march 2013 sleevers fb but it only allows to like and not join? I prefer a private group as well. I don't want my posts being seen by others
  21. My bigger ones are still scabbed but the smaller ones are barely noticeable, just a slight pink. I'm anticipating that they will be less noticeable than my stretch marks in the next months. One of my smaller ones looks less pink than a bug bite I had prior to surgery. I'm about 2.5 weeks out so I must be healing a bit faster. Maybe mederma or vitamin e will help or cocoa butter
  22. This week is soft foods like cottage c cheese and Greek yogurts. I tried pureed tuna but it came right back up and I measured. I'm pretty sure out was the tuna. I sometimes had problems with out before. So I'm going to hold off on meats for a week and try again later. I get more protein out of the yogurt anyway.
  23. I have no problems with soup. I just forget to drink when I'm working. Yogurts and liquids go down fine. Pureed tuna was a no-go but I've had problems with tuna pre-op. I think I'm going to wait another week before I try mushy meats. My greek yogurts go down good and are 15g protein for 6oz cup so I'm not in any rush to struggle with other foods. So far I feel like I'm always drinking something and I haven't felt hungry or full in my stomach.

    Any March Sleevers?

The plan they gave me includes all liquids combined: shakes, broths, water, milk, etc. This has to total 64 oz. Ive been getting in 32 or more in water and then counting my shakes. My pee is clear an d only slightly yellow in the morning so I'm staying hydrated. The more water the better when you're in ketosis bcuz it helps in burning fat and ketosis is hard on the kidneys.
