I am waiting for my insurance letter and then we.schedule... I will be a May bandster!!!!

My program requires you to attend at least 4 support group sessions pre-operativly, and 4 post op. At first I wasn't happy about being forced to do this once a week, but now I look forward to the pre-op meetings, its fun to see where everyone is in the process and how they are moving along.

IMO a little saggy skin is far better than diabetes or other possible health risks. I work in the medical field, previously in surgery, and now in Er/Trauma. I have been very open and honest with my choice of surgery, and have had zero negative feedback. Now what is said behind my back maybe a different story. Has it crossed your mind that maybe this "friend" is jealous of your ability to have the surgery for one reason or another? Maybe her insurance doesn't cover it, or is your friendship primarily food based? I know a friend of mine who was facing surgery had a few friends get angry with her for having the surgery because every Friday was Mexican night when all the girls would go eat, the assumed if she had surgery she was going to stop hanging out with them. Just a thought... Be strong, and do this for you.... if you are ready to get the tool and use it.. GET IT! Also, its reversible.. the GREAT thing of the band.. it doesn't have to be inside you FOREVER if you wish to change it... Good Luck!

I have wanted to explore WLS for a long long time, well after a few failed marriages in my early 20's and being a single mom.. I decided it was time to shed a little light on myself. I have general concern for my health, and of course want to be anything but "the fat girl with a pretty face." So I started a new job, and was elated to find out that my hospital has a Weight Mgt center, and its a "Center of Excellence" for bariatric surgery.. SCORE! I started my process on Feburary 1st, was approved for the program on Feburary 14th (best vday a chunky girl can get!), went thru all my intake, h&p, exercise, and nutritional evals, psych eval and am waiting on surgical consult March 23rd. We are pushing for a first week of May surgery date :-) Not bad at all! I am super exicted to join this forum, my behaviorist has asked me to lead some of our "support groups" apparently I have some good positive light to shed, so I am hoping to do the same here. Good for you!!!!! It is a tool, and sometimes tools lay around the garage for a while before we need them, or admit to it.. I know I have pounded a few nails with a high heel versus the walk outside to get a hammer. Your going to do great, and the most important thing is that you recognized it was a problem and went to the doctor. A lot of people from what I see relapse, and then build up shame and guilt and never address the issues. :-)

I am hoping to be!!!! I have done a whirlwind to get here.. now I am hoping. I have managed to get everything done, and am waiting on my surgical consult on March 23rd for a date. I had pre-requested time off in May for a family function that was cancelled, so I am hoping to occupy that time working on Project Tamera.. We will see! Once I get my date, I will confirm, maybe we can be buddies!
