  1. I have left shoulder pain and down the left side of my upper back...why? I am eating to much? to fast? I am clueless......It's horrible!! Any answers???

    I got shoulder pain 2 wks after surgery... WORST pain in my life. I would rather have another baby than that again. Doc said It got stuck in the banding area and that causes the diaphragm to inflame and then the pain starts and goes to your shoulder. i had to have my fill taken out and start back on clear liq for 3 days then the post op diet all over again. it has been 2 weeks since and I am much better and MORE careful about what i eat.

  2. My walk of forum shame...

    Okay, I was banded 1/21. I returned from the hospital having gained 8 pounds from my surgery date. I stuck with my Clear Liquids for a week and had lost all of the 8 pounds, plus 4 more, but I was still in severe pain. I visited my doctor on 1/28 and he decided to remove all of the Fluid from my band due to severe swelling. He said once the swelling had subsided, he would fill the band again.

    Now, I should note that from the day of surgery on, I never felt any relief from hunger. I felt very hungry all day, every day. Stomach growling loudly, the works. So I get home, and since my band was now empty, I started "experimenting" with solid food. I shouldn't have. I was still supposed to be on a clear liquid diet. Experimenting turned to eating (big surprise there), and I've had no discipline over the weekend whatsoever. I've been able to eat whatever I want without any ill effects. I've gained 3 pounds back and I'm feeling pretty ashamed and disappointed.

    I thought the band was supposed to relieve hunger pain, and it hasn't for me. Has anyone had a similar lapse or experience? Any advice on feeling better and getting back on track would be appreciated.

    Also, is there a medical reason why I'm not supposed to have diet soda? My instructions say no carbonated beverages, but does not specify why...

    Thanks =(

  3. We are on the same path my friend. I just joined this site today. I started my liquid diet on Monday and I am scheduled for surgery on the 7th. I am truly sorry you don't have the support you need at home but I think you've come to the right place for that!

    Glad to see youre with me on this journey. I am very excited about it. I thought the liq. diet would be terrible and how could I ever be satisified with it, but the Protein shakes help a lot. I have used a Tbsp of sugar free Jello added to the powder for some different flavors. Check with your dietician. you may be able to have cottage cheese low fat and Jello. it is pretty good. :)

  4. :rolleyes:

    In the pre-op phase of things. Started my liq diet last Thurs. already down 8lbs. Very exciting. I have't lost 8lbs in years!! Not too bad with the diet so far. I did wake up hungry in the middle of the night, but got through that. Not much support from my spouse which is disappointing but He has NEVER had a weight issue... UG very difficult to get across to anyone who has never been in this situation or even close to it.

    I saw my surgeon yesterday and things are on the go for Next Thursday Feb 3rd! I can't hardly wait to start this new journey, but I guess I have already started it.

    Any encouragement or good advice for a new band would be welcome.

    Thanks in advance for your support!:)
