    Looking For Friends

Hello ladies. I'm 25 and was sleeved on 10/29 and in the Los Angeles area. I too am looking to make friends. Feel free to message me anytime.
  2. Hello all. I am new to this site, but was very vocal in my beginning stages with the band on lapbandtalk. I am having my surgery tomorrow morning by Dr. Zane at the Kaiser Harbor City medical office. I am both nervous and excited about starting my new journey. Who else has had their band removed and sleeved the same day. Anyone NOT have a pre op diet. All responses would be greatly appreciated!!

    Tomorrow Is The Big Day!

I am home now and doing much better. The revision went well and I am officially sleeved!!!! Yay! The pain was pretty bad when I woke up, but the nurses were very good at managing my pain. I stayed over night and came home yesterday evening. Other than a bit of gas pain in my shoulder yesterday, I feel great! Big thanks to Dr. Zane and his surgical team and all you well wishers. I really appreciate it.

    Getting Sleeved Tomorrow!

Thank you so much for the responses and positive vibes, I only had to do liquids 2 days before, and am also praying that there isn't a lot of scar tissue and that everything runs smoothly.

    Getting Sleeved Tomorrow!

I've been banded for about 2 1/2 years. I am fortunate to have it all done in one surgery, granted there isn't too much scar tissue/ *fingers crossed*

    Goal!!! 1/16/12...

Went to the doctor today. Sick as a dog (not due to lapband)...Anyway I got on the scale and realized I am now 162lbs, a total of 90 lbs lost since surgery 2/8/11!
  11. just got lectured by my dad for not taking care of my car, i.e. oil, insurance, etc. after telling him my plans of going out tonight. After he made me feel guilty enough to cancel driving tonight, I have come to the conclusion there will be a party at my house lol! Either that or somebody has to come get me o_O #thatisall

    Onderland!!!!

After 6 months and 10 days from being banded, I am finally in Onderland. It feels great. I have been slacking on the band for the past few months and eating and drinking A LOT of things in the past few months that I know I shouldn't have. So I finally went in on Tuesday to get a fill. Only prob was I was too tight. I couldn't even get water down. I tried ice chips, broth, popsicles and everything would come right back up. I fought it for 2 days because I was losing, but I was in pure hell. I finally went in for an unfill yesterday and I feel soooo much better. To top it off the scale said 198. I know it was mostly due to dehydration, but I was ecstatic nonetheless I am re-motivated and back on track now and I'm lovin' it!

    So frustrated!

I'm sorry to hear that and can relate with you to a certain extent. I was banded 2/8/11. While I think I have done ok so far, I KNOW for a fact that I could have lost a lot more weight. I don't exercise at all, so at least you are getting in some type of activity. My prob is I eat whatever I want. Mind you the amount isn't much, but you name it, I eat it. Including sodas, juices, cocktails etc. It all comes down to how bad we really want this. We didn't go through all of this to fail. Why put our minds and bodies through this process for nothing. Don't lose faith. Try changing up your diet, walk an extra 10 mins. Protein, protein, protein! You can do it. Best wishes

    Discouraged :( :(

You are doing great!!! You were banded a day after me and have lost over 10+ pounds than I have. Pat yourself on the back!!! We are barely 3 months out and that amt of weight within that time is awesome! Don't beat yourself up hun. Trust me, you are doing a great job. Keep up the good work. Im going to walk around my building now LOL.
  16. First I'd like to start off by saying that I'm super happy that my TOM is even here. Since my 3rd fill 2 weeks ago I have begun to lose steadily again and I think it threw it off track a bit. According to my calculations, I was about a week late and starting to get nervous It finally came yesterday and the cravings and cramps are out of this world. I had rocky road ice cream last night. A Orange crush this morning along with baked ruffles I guess I was eating the ruffles too fast along with the soda and it all came up a few minutes ago (serves me right). How do you manage to control these urges and is it me or can I eat more? Most women say they get tighter. So far, I seem to feel the opposite. Any insight is welcome.
  17. So I was banded almost 2 months ago on 2/8/11. To date I have lost about 20 pounds since then. Most of you might think that's pretty good and so do I. The problem is I know I could have done MUCH better. Im disappointed in myself and my lack of commitment I'm feeling towards my new lifestyle. Im pretty much carrying on like I was before. I eat things I know I shouldn't FAR too often. I go out an average of 3-4 nights a week to a bar or lounge which equals ALCOHOL!!! Im not a light drinker either. Some people say the band has certain effects on their tolerance, but that is just not the case for me. Im talking an easy 5 or more drinks a night. NO I'm not an alcoholic and Im not turning to that rather than food. These are all things I did pre band and I am disgusted with myself when I think about it. Im 24, single in L.A. so I enjoy going out with friends, but I know I need to decide which is more important right now. Im still going to fast food restaurants, especially on the way home after the bar. Dating sucks too, because it usually involves going out to dinner or drinks at some point. I just don't know what is wrong with me. I guess this is the first step. I'm recognizing it and admitting to thousands of strangers; leaving myself vulnerable to harsh criticizing. I just need some support, as I have none really. I will work on myself starting this moment. Thanks for listening/reading.

    Realizing that I need help!!!

First of all, congrats on your weight loss thus far! That is truly an accomplishment. I admire your willpower and self control you show in making those changes. You are right about one thing, alcohol and weight loss just don't go together and I see that more than ever now. Thank you for the inspiration

    Realizing that I need help!!!

You're definitely missing something, but unfortunately Im not in that particular profession to help you.

    Realizing that I need help!!!

Thanks and I do for the most part make much smarter decisions at the fast food window, but I admit I am there way to often. As far as the drinks, I do try and stick to just straight tequila and a light vodka mix. If it's just a regular date I will only have about 2 or 3 martinis, but if Im going out say to a bar with friends, and we hang out some more after, then that's when it turns into 5. I know I have to do my part and I will. Much appreciated.

    Realizing that I need help!!!

VERY helpful tips. Im not looking to stop the way I socialize, just drastically reduce it. Thank you very much for the advice.

    Realizing that I need help!!!

Thank you. I should probably look into that. I haven't been to any type of support groups or meetings since my band. I just need to find better ways of spending my time. Thanks for the words of encouragement and I am confident that I will be just fine.

    Realizing that I need help!!!

I agree it is excessive, Im not refuting that. What I'm saying is that what might ring out as a red flag to some, isn't the reality in my case. That is also true in my family, must be the genes

You clearly aren't comprehending what I'm saying, nor understand where Im coming from, but thanks for trying to help.
