  1. I'm just a little over a week post-op. Every day feels better than the day before. The scale isn't moving down, but I'm not discouraged. This is for the long haul, not a quick fix. I'm really glad I made the decision to do this. I'm excited about what is to come.:bananajump:

Are you feeling better? I am about 48 hours out from surgery and not doing well. It hurts to yawn! When does it start to get better?

  2. So I was banded Tuesday March 16th. Coming out of surgery I was having a hard time breathing and dealing with the nausea. They gave me three different injections of anti nausea medication and then I felt agitated and clenched my teeth all the way home. It was a 3 1/2 hr drive and it sucked. Just wished I could have fallen asleep. At home I was up all night and to be honest started having anxiety asking myself why I did this to myself?! Yesterday was rough too. Today I had my post op. Teeth still clenching feeling. Maybe it's from the Vicodin because I haven't taken anymore anti nausea medication. Slept a little better last night. Have only had Water for three days and all my crushed medications....yuck. Makes me nauseous. The post of doc told me today that this is the way I would be taking medication for the rest of my life. I had no idea. Wow. My doc says on days 5, 6 and 7 I can have sugar free popsicles, sugar free non-carbonated drinks. Really, no pudding or anything until the 8th day? I don't know how I am not going to be weak on just water and Clear Liquids for 7 days! Oh and i can have Soup but it has to be low sodium which tastes awful. Does anyone know why the popsicles have to be sugar free? I found some with 5 g of sugar. May test one tomorrow. And why low sodium? Jeez.

  3. I am a March bandster too! My surgery date is 03/15. I am starting the pre-op diet tomorrow but I was supposed to start today. I am feeling pretty horrible about it. I just hate the taste of any shake. I do get one meal a day or plain chicken and salad and veggies. No oil or anything. I am not looking forward to tomorrow. But glad I got cleared today after my stress test came back ok. Trying to focus now!

  4. It seems these pre op diets range from all liquids to full Atkins. Let me know what yours is. Mine is one to two weeks (depending on your BMI) of two shakes a day (20-30g Protein, less than 5g sugar, and 3 g fat), then a salad with no oils or dressings just lemon or plain plus plain chicken no skin.

I wish I could do the Atkins instead but I know some people are on full liquids for two weeks prior.

Would love to hear what your pre op prescription is!

  5. I am scheduled for surgery finally a week from tomorrow and so excited. I went for my pre-op appointment today and mentioned that some doctors have noticed that I have PVC's (or irregular heartbeats) on an EKG. I just had gallbladder removal surgery 6 months ago and uterine surgery 6 months before that and I had no problems. Yet, my surgeon wants me to do a stress test where you run on the treadmill. Does this mean my surgery may be cancelled pending the results? Has anyone else had to do this?

  6. I am confused. I am going through the approval process with my insurance right now to get the procedure done. The only thing that scares me is the fact that everyone on these boards says you have to exercise and eat healthy. If that is the case, why not just diet? Does the LapBand really help or do you end up doing it all on your own anyway? I just want to make sure I am not going to go through surgery for nothing. I would love your input! Thanks so much!
