hi everyone... Shoulder tip pain is a problem and the suture lines ache. I usually sleep on my left side but at the moment i can only lie flat on my back or propped up with pillows behind my back which is basically impossible for me to get very much sleep. Im having to basically force myself to have any fluid intake as i really dont feel like anything.

OUCH!!! Ive been up most of the night in pain. Im starting to burp quite a lot so thats easing the shoulder pain but the suture lines are now aching. How long do i have to leave these white stockings on for??? What medication did you all use for pain relief? I was having pethidine in the hospital and i was sent home with disolvible panadol. Bit of a difference!!! I have to see the Surgeon on 23/3 . Will he do a fill then or is that too early post op?? Well dispite me currently feeling like crap.... Im so glad its over and im banded.

Thank you everyone... I am a walking zombie... couldnt sleep. Leaving for the hospital in 1 hr 20 minutes. Todays my day!!!!

23.5 hrs to go......... but.......... who's counting.......... this tired, excited person.

i need sleep.... i thought id have an early night but it didnt work. Its now just past 2am and i havernt fallen asleep so i thought i might as well get up. Less than 29hrs until i have to be at the hospital..........

I have to fast from midnight tomorrow so im going to make sure that i drink heaps from about 11.30pm to 12.00.... then i'll stay up peeing for the rest of the night. Oh well!!! probably be too nervous to sleep anyway

I still have to turn up at the hospital at 7am even if im done late in the day... im going shopping tomorrow so will stock up on magazines. Im going to be ferral on friday without my morning coffee...

sorry to hear that Susannah... im sure all will be okay. Anyway... i just came from seeing my surgeon... good news is im definately being banded on friday... bad news is he has 3 minor procedures, 1 lap chole and 3 lapbandings to do that day... IM LAST!!!!! He said because he does the minor first and then the ones that may have more difficulty and then the one that he think will be straight forward and that is me. Im going to be chewing my fingernails all day.

Magii... i am scared but excited too.... I just want it over and to commence my new life.....

Hi all... i think im only going to be in hospital overnight. I just hope they do me early friday morning. Im seeing the surgeon at 4.30pm today so will try and find out roughly what time im going in.

Hi Magii and welcome. Most of us ' hang around ' the Melbourne thread. Feel free to drop in there. A few of the girls have recently been banded and also you'll find those banded a while ago with heaps of experience and knowledge. As for me.... Im being banded on friday.

2 days to go................. Im seeing the surgeon at 4.30pm today...... he wants to go through my results ( HaHa... i already know them all... the bonus of being a nurse) and i think he just wants to see if i have any questions. Undoubtably that will be another $120- consult fee.

Hi All..... Loretta: Im really nervous. having trouble sleeping etc. I just had a foot long meatball subway for lunch as i know im never going to do that again. Boy, did i enjoy it!!! Amazing how foot long and i could probably fit in another 1/2........ Im so happy all that is going to change..... Im more than ready for this....

I had the Respiratory Tests last week... all was straight forward and the results were fine. I wasnt pre-warned about the 'Arterial Blood Gases'... they put a large needle in my left wrist artery and drew out some blood... it was not nice.

Hi Jacbro.... im a fellow aussie and im getting banded on the 9th March. I remember when i had a lapchole ( removal of gallbladder) in 2000. The gas pain i experiences personally i believe was worse than having either of my children. Im very scared im going to face that same pain again but just to be healthier and thinner will be worth it. Hope you feel better soon.

mmmmmmmmmmm... I saw a dietician a few weeks ago and he said i could definately add 'diet' cordial to the water. So.... when im banded i'll do just that .........Im not a huge water drinker and im going to miss my diet coke. I never have had fluid with my meals so that part shouldnt be difficult for me........... Im sure im going to have heaps of challengers and im happy your all there ahead of me to give me advise.

I dont have anything to do with the MS society.... when i was first diagnosed in 1997 when my son was 6 weeks old.. My neurologist contacted the MS society on my behalf. Then... a social worker and an OT came over for a visit........mmmmmmmmmmm Well that was enough to depress me........ they talked about the services they could offer when i became permanently disabled and talked about incontinence, bowel problems, types of rails that could be fitted etc. I didnt need to hear that, I was a newly diagnosed mum of a tiny baby that needed me to be fit and healthy... i needed positive thoughts and i didnt get it. i spent the next few weeks in tears and then i picked myself up and have continued with my life. 10 years on and i have had another child and a recent MRI shows that the MS hasnt progressed very much at all. I dont tell a great deal of people i meet as i get a look of pity.......... I dont have any idea how the MS will affect me in the future and truthfully I dont want to know. One stupid woman at my work found out and approached me.... she said ' arnt you scared, have you organized for someone to raise your children and the next remark was , as she got tears in her eyes.... your so brave to keep working when you know your going to die'............... ah !!!! I just said............. Not sure if you realize but your going to die too, we all do. stupid ,stupid woman.

Mate... im going to stop wingeing about having to wait just under 4 weeks from my !st consult until my operation date!!! I was just looking at another post site and some of those people have been sitting waiting for years for lapbanding on a public waiting list....... I guess although im getting nervous... i am very lucky as the new me isnt far away....cant wait to meet her!!!

Im feeling a bit lonely... here i sit reading all your stories and im basically the only one not banded..... but........ not long now. Im seeing Dr nottle next Wednesday ( 2 days before op).... i am led to believe that he is doing 3 lapbands that morning......... im going to beg him to let me go first. I know i'll be so nervous on the day and i dont wont to sit and wait for hours. Im going to need all of your support and encouragement this week .............
