    Love my band

I had really never heard of lapbanding until about a year ago when i met a woman who said she once weighed 130kg. I looked at her in disbelief as there she stood at 55kg. So... i asked how etc etc After she mentioned the words Lapbanding and passed me a card with the surgeons name on it... i went home and started researching. Although i most probably will never see the woman again... i have her to thank for bringing the awareness to me that i am indeed obese and now am on a journey to finally put an end to my life as a 'fatty" So.... i would encourage anyone who has had lapbanding done and seen successful results to tell people they know that are in the overweight/obese criteria. You may just be helping someone to take that step.. ------------------------------------------------- Yet to be banded 1st Consult with surgeon: 12/2/07 Dietician and physician appointments: 14/2/07

Hi Everyone... well i continue to do my research in regards to the lapbanding as im sure many of you did prior to the op. Just a question or two..... can you feel and see the port?? Where exactly is it located ie near belly button or where?? is it uncomfortable if you sleep on the side where the port is?? -------------------------------------------- yet to be banded !st consult with surgeon : 12/2/07 Dietician and physician appointments: 14/2/07

    Melbourne Chat Thread!!!!

mmmm... i must ring the physicians office in spotswood prior to my appointment with him on 14/2 to find out if there is a cost. I forgot to ask when i initially booked in for the appointment. Ive decided once i have an operation date, i will start on optifast a few weeks prior even if Dr Nottle doesnt insist. Read all the benefits to be on it pre-op so might as well give it a shot.

    Question for Bronnie

Good advise Cam......... I dont think anyone had thought of that. It would be a nightmare to get told to go home on the day of operation due to a little pill.

    Melbourne Chat Thread!!!!

I have to pay $120- for first consult with Dr Nottle on 12/2 and $80- for the dietician on 14/2. mmmmm.... if i have to see Dr Nottle again for the results from the physician (who i see on 14/2), i really hope they dont make me wait another 8 weeks to get into see him again. I thought because i was going private that when i rang to book into see Dr Nottle for the initial consult that i would basically get in within 1-2 weeks maximum but its an 8 week wait for me ( Yes Tangle!!! 25 more sleeps left).
  19. bronnie70

    DR Nottle

Ah!! 25 sleeps until i have my first consult with Dr Nottle!! I wish it was 25 sleeps until the op. Fingers crossed that will happen late feb or sometime in march.

    Melbourne Chat Thread!!!!

all i can say is.... i need to work alot of extra shifts before i see Dr Nottle!!! Dose it cost anything to see the physician??? As ive said before i see Dr Nottle on 12/2 and the dietician and physician on 14/2. Will i then need to see Dr Nottle again or will he just book me in for the surgery once physician is seen and contact me??? I just hate this waiting game. Susannah.... im going to miss most foods i think. Im a sweet tooth but basically i eat when im bored so once i have the lapbanding is ..off for walks i go. Both children will be at school this year so im going to have some time to do things that are just for me and to improve my health.

How true that is, susannah. Hows the liquid diet going. Im not a vegie eater so can you have salad as well or is it strictly vegies?? Im thinking of going on optifast for 1 or 2 weeks prior to the op even if the surgeon doesnt insist as i think it is good to start preparing yourself for the liquid phase post op.

Fee.... how much did you get back??? im prepared to watch my $3500 or however much it is for Dr Nottle to just disappear. Of coarse anything back is a bonus. At the end of the day... this i hope will be $ well spent

    Melbourne Chat Thread!!!!

Morning all... well, i melted badly yesterday working in a hospital with no lights or aircon isnt exactly fun. Lifts weren't working so had to use the stairs to get anywhere. Of-coarse I work on the top floor. :faint: Well done with the liquid diet Susanah.... Tangle....yeh!! cant wait to 12th Feb to see Dr Nottle but op date maybe a while after that. I hope i dont have to wait long. Going private and as im an egar beaver ive already booked into see a dietician and the physician on 14th feb.

    DR Nottle

My BMI is about 37 too. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1997 and basically have been in remission since therefore i may be sent for sleep studies due to that diagnosis. Im counting down the days until i get to see Dr Nottle on 12th Feb.
