  1. Congrats! I was banded 3/21 and am starting to feel better each day. I am a little emotional with all the changes, but am just glad the surgery is done. Rest up and keep us posted on your progress

Well I am offically banded as of 12pm yesterday!!! I thought I was going to die from the pain at first only because no one told me to breathe when I try to move or get up! but once I was informed to breathe things are much better! I came home yesterday afternoon around 3:30 i was very tired so I slept for a few hours off and on. I was able to get up and walk around a good bit last night which I was impressed with because the way I felt at the hospital I thought I was going to be hurting for a while. I havent had horrible gas pains just a little in my chest and my left shoulder and that was mostly last night. My pain is only on my left side where my port is and it really only hurts when I get up. I am very glad I have done this! I cant wait to start seeing results! I am not hungry at all but I am getting liquids down with no problem. Trying to remember to take and do everything I need to. I weighed myself just to see if I had gained like most people said they had from the swelling and fluids on their bodies but to my suprise I havent!! But i am not swollen either so that might have alot to do with it too! the only thing that is swollen is my hand from my IV, and thats because the nurse gave me a new bag but my other was empty and OMG that hurt so bad! to the point that my hand hurt all night long! I have had many IVs inmy life and never have experienced that! But over all the hopspital and nurses were awesome and the entire thing went well! I wish everyone luck! it is the best thing we can do for ourselves!!!

  2. Thanks everyone for there encouragement and support for my surgery. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to take care of me on my "big day". To all those about to embark on this journey it's scary, but I can say I came through with flying colors:) So glad to be a banster now:)

I hope that all went really well yesterday!! It's totally normal to be emotional and scared before your surgery! Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers your way.

Best wishes for lots of success!

    Catherine

  3. I had the choice of medifast or Atkins and I chose Atkins and only had to do my diet for 7 days. I lost a total of 9 pounds. I am 2 days past surgery and haven't weighed myself yet, as healing an swelling need to come down. You will do great.

I am scheduled for my surgery on April 22, I am supposed to start my liquid diet in a couple of weeks. Can anyone tell me how much weight did you lose when you finished your liquid diet? Thanks!!!!!!

  4. I'm sorry Shirley, but I had to laugh when you said "give me my clothes I am leaving":) I can see myself in the EXACT same situation with my husband tomorrow. Thanks for your kind and encouraging words. It makes people going through this feel a little less crazy.

You make this work for you ! 1-2lbs. a week is the norm. You might lose more in the beginning, and then taper off. Don't get upset, it's all normal. The key thing is see what you look like in e year ! Remember this is a slow go.

As far as getting spooked! Don't let them get into your head. If those are friends,,,, there not very nice....

Were all nervous. I can remember telling my husband "give me my cloths,,, I'm leaving."

He said it's nerves. It was. They will give you something to take the edge off.

Let us know how it went.

    Good Health to you, Shirley.

  5. I have had a few friends tell me the same thing and I just have to keep moving forward like yourself. You are doing the best thing for you and we will be looking and feeling so much better 3 mths, 6mths, and a year from now. Please let me know how your surgery goes as I will let you know mine. I am scheduled for 0800 and have to be at the surgery center at 0630 so less than 12 hours to go....yikes! Praying that things go smoothly for all 3/21 surgery patients.

I'm also scheduled for 3/21 and was doing fine until I heard from a couple of friends who toldl me I was crazy for doing this and would still remain fat. Yikes so much for trying to be anxiety free!

  6. If you don't mind me asking who did your surgery? I am schedule with Dr. Trace Curry at Journey Lite on Monday and am super nervous. I have known Dr. Curry for years and he is an AMAZING surgeron, but am fearful of the general anesthesia. I'm so glad everything went well for you.

Well it is 1:45pm and I am feeling better. Everything went great this morning. Got to the docs at 7:30 this morning and right on schedule I was wheeled back to the O.R. at 9am. They woke me up about 30 min later and I was in recovery. They told me while they were in there they had to repair a small hernia. So the gas in the belly created a lot of my pain while there. I was up and walking around in about 40 minutes. The walking helped. I was in the car on my way home by 11am!!! It was so fast, they have it down to a science! I got the Lap Band! I still can't believe it! I am not really in pain just uncomfortable. The gas pain went to my lower back and not my shoulder so not sure that is a good thing or bad thing. Liquids only today, then I can start puree foods tomorrow.

  7. Just wondering if anyone else out there is getting banded on 3/21..which is only two days away. I have been an emotional roller coaster and am so scared of going under general anesthesia. The sad thing is I see people EVERY day get intubated and go under general anesthesia and they have ALL been fine. I'm just starting to fear that I will cry and freak out once I get to the surgery center. I want this more than anything and have been very compliant with my 7 day high Protein low carb diet (down 6.2 pounds). Just need to know if I am the only one out there who is scared and super emotional.
