I've just over a year out and very happy with my surgery, progress...etc...
We went out for Mexican last night and I ate WAY more than I should have. This is the first time I've felt ill and still sick to my stomach the next day! I think I ticked off my band.....I feel like I cannot eat much of anything today at all. Any suggestions on how to sooth things??

Don't worry but I would he careful and mindful. I can tell a big difference after my first fill, Thank goodness!

Right now is what people like to call "bandster hell" which is when you have healed from surgery, swelling has gone down and you have little to no restriction from your band. I had the same thing and right now is all based on your own will power.....you have to stop thinking I can eat like I did and keep the pre op/post op diet fresh in your mind....I can only eat this much and stop yourself. Don't let the "I can eat again food monster invade your thoughts" bc he will and I think that monster is the cause of a lot of post op weight gain. My loss since surgery has been SLOOOOOOWWW and I just had my first fill Friday. Are you scheduled for your first fill?

Hi, I can't provide feedback on that Dr and not sure what insurance you have but my surgeon is Dr. Aguila in Tampa and LOVE HIM! I think he accepts most insurance also. :-) Good luck!

It's like 3-4 weeks out before your first fill when you can eat just about anything. I'm sticking to the rules!!!

I have to apologize for misunderstanding your post. Gag reflex didn't cross my mind.....but anyhooo it might sound crazy but my gag reflex has never been super sensitive but it was there....and since surgery I've notice no sensitivity....soooo :-). As for swallowing.....not my cup of tea!

I will be 3 weeks out Thursday....I'm on solids and now understand "bandster hell" I'm doing my best to make the best choices and still eat as if I have some restriction. Grrrr!!

J,
I would think that if you trust your surgeon enough to do this you could ask the questions. However, I understand if you're uncomfortable. Maybe you could ask your gyn Dr?

WOW! That's all I can say. Definitely need to educate yourself better and he's a doctor......its not personal to him.

I'm taking a lesson from you two.....I was banded 9/8 and knock on wood I haven't had an episode yet but I am being extremely careful! I don't have anything in my band yet though....so getting a fill is going to be the test! I do have to ask were you taking really small bites and chewing it to a pulp?

It's not from surgery.....the sore throat was gone in a few days. Thanks though...

Congrats!!!!

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks post op and I always feel like I have something in my throat....like a piece of food or something. I have no problems eating/drinking, swallowing but it's like there always that little something that doesn't go down.
does anyone else have this??

Slim,
Thank you SO much for the advice! I started the antibiotics as soon as I picked them up last night and went to see my doc this morning. He looked concerned and pushed on it...which hurt like all get out....the left side of my incision is infected and there is also a small opening like you described. It's not a deep opening but it is gooey looking. The redness seems to be going down a bit but I am praying I don't have any further issues. I also hope this is the end of any issues you are having as well. I know it's been a long road for you so far dealing with this!
Thank you again!

Yep, it's no longer just spotting....yay
This is completely abnormal for me because I am on seasonique where I only have 1 every 3 months....so not digging this!
-
Ok, I called my surgeon's office...he called me back within 5 minutes and said he would call me in an antibiotic and I am to come see him tomorrow. I called bc the redness seems to be spreading and I am not putting off antibiotics any longer. I was going to wait until tomorrow but I don't want to mess around with this!

ahhhh, ok, Thank you Bethe!

I'm on birth control pills faithfully and its not time for my.perioid but I started spotting a bit and feel like I might start. Did this happen to anyone else?? I'm.wondering if its just the change in my body from surgery and diet or what.
