Hey there, my port incision started to hurt and turned red Saturday...looked infected by Sunday so I called the surgeon and he called in some antibiotics for me and I am taking them religiously. I saw him today and he looked concerned and said he hopes its just superficial rather than my actual port being infected. I am happy to report even though it looks gross the redness is going away!

I've noticed my port incision started to feel tender and now one side is red...I just had surgery on the 8th so I am still healing up. I gently pushed on that side and a tiny bit of fluid/puss looking stuff came out. I hate that it's Saturday and that I can't call my Dr until Monday. Any suggestions on what I can do until then?

Slim, Thank you SO much for the advice! I started the antibiotics as soon as I picked them up last night and went to see my doc this morning. He looked concerned and pushed on it...which hurt like all get out....the left side of my incision is infected and there is also a small opening like you described. It's not a deep opening but it is gooey looking. The redness seems to be going down a bit but I am praying I don't have any further issues. I also hope this is the end of any issues you are having as well. I know it's been a long road for you so far dealing with this! Thank you again! -
I'm on birth control pills faithfully and its not time for my.perioid but I started spotting a bit and feel like I might start. Did this happen to anyone else?? I'm.wondering if its just the change in my body from surgery and diet or what.

Yep, it's no longer just spotting....yay This is completely abnormal for me because I am on seasonique where I only have 1 every 3 months....so not digging this! -

Ok, I called my surgeon's office...he called me back within 5 minutes and said he would call me in an antibiotic and I am to come see him tomorrow. I called bc the redness seems to be spreading and I am not putting off antibiotics any longer. I was going to wait until tomorrow but I don't want to mess around with this! -
Ugh, port incision is unhappy....calling the Dr first thing Monday bc I think it is getting infected.

Thanks everyone. It seems the redness went down a bit last night and nothing else is coming out. I'm keeping it clean with hibicleanse and calling him in the morning. -

Post surgery 1 week follow up.....lost 8 lbs! I am feeling so good...should get my first fill in 3 weeks!

Wow, I started burping tonight......I am so excited that I don't have that rumbling torture in my stomach and agony of trying to burp but I can't bc I was swollen from surgery. Oh and I go full liquids now.....butternut squash Soup for dinner. Sitting lovely as can be!

On my surgery day I overheard a woman asking my surgeon about airport security...etc.... He said there is a small piece of titanium but the rest is plastic/silicone and they should not give you issues but it's a good idea to have your card to show what it is just incase. -
Veronica, my doc said to take milk of magnesia for that "stopped up" issue.....BUT *** WARNING - I only took HALF a dose and it worked way toooo well if you get what I am saying??? *** but it def works!

Hi Amy! It's been a while since we have checked in. I am in Lakeland and we talked before. I had to postpone my surgery from Feb to Sept 8th. I am approx 1 week post op and feeling good. How are you??

I'm doing great! I am excited bc I can burp....LOL silly I know! Seems to be getting better by the day...just trying to get all of my water in.

How did work go?? I am doing SO much better! I think my swelling is starting to go down and I moved to full liquids woohoo!!! I have my post op appt Friday and I can't wait to hear what the doc has to say. I've lost 13lbs since pre op so far and I am pretty stoked! I hope you're day went well and you are feeling better too!

First few weeks...protein shakes....are you guys drinking.it all at one time or like a little here...a little there? I don't think I'm drinking.enough so I'm curious. Thanks!

Thanks Faz! My doc says no hot or cold for 3 weeks bc it can cause stomach spasm or gas.....I did try a cold shake and felt gassy (but that was a few days ago...) So I will try again.
