  1. Thanks for the response, sounds like there may be some hope. I see my Neuro-Opthamologist tomorrow, she knows I was recently banded, so I just wanted to be prepared to have a conversation with her on how to monitor this all since I only see her about twice a year. ~eko
  2. I was banded in December for a number of reasons, one being that I have been putting up with PTC for years, managing it with meds. Of course those of us who are overweight typically hear that if you lose the weight, it might go into remission. But like I said, I have many other reasons for wanting to lose the weight. Currently my PTC is being managed with Diamox Sequals (1000 mg morning, 1500 mg night) and Topamox (2x day), I would love to reduce the amount of medication I am on if ever possible. I was wondering if there are any bandsters out there who have successfully managed their PTC with weight loss? I personally think PTC is something that is not understood, but if my journey can include this perk, it would be great. Thanks, eko
  3. So what are your questions, we are here to answer them from our experiences. I was just banded 12/27, so I am pretty fresh from going through the "hoops" but not the cpaps, I had a different issue. So ask away......
  4. Hi All! One week down after being banded 12/27. Saw my Dr. yesterday, he said everything was looking good and I could progress from liquids to soft foods and onward over the next five weeks until my next appointment in February. Laid out his five rules, and said just finish healing and learn to live with the band, then the adjustments will start. Overall, feeling pretty good, the energy is coming back. I am looking forward to the new year. Take care! eko
  5. Mandy - I am only a week out from being banded myself, but are you getting enough liquids in during the day? You want to make sure you are keeping yourself hydrated. Also you say you are not hungry and not eating much, have you had an adjustment yet? If you have not tried one yet, try working in a Protein drink like Myoplex Lite to get in some protein. It sounds like you might not be getting enough protein in your diet. If you have not already started, keep a food diary of what you are eating and how you feel so you can discuss this with your Dr. Be well, eko
  6. Hi, thought I'd take a few minutes and introduce myself. I was just banded on Monday, 12/27. For the most part I feel pretty good, but am still a little sore. Right now I am on a liquid diet for the first week until I see my surgeon next week. This is how I am starting the new year, looking for a new me. Happy New Year!
  7. Hi! I was banded on Monday, the 27th, it does get better, although it still hurts to laugh - go figure. Don't live with any pain you can prevent with liquid Tylenol, it is easier to heal when you don't hurt. Sounds like our Dr.'s all do the post-op diet a little different. This week I have been a full liquid diet, essentially anything I can get through a straw which includes skim milk, strained creamed soups, and protein shakes, sugar-free hot chocolate, and other calories free liquids (no diet soda). I see my surgeon on Monday to see what's next. I hope that all of you have uneventful recoveries and much success in the new year!
  8. Hi all! I was just banded on Monday 12/27. I am still recovering from surgery. For the most part I am doing well, I do have some soreness, but that seems to be backing off a little each day. I am trying to understand the new signals my body is telling me besides it is out of routine. Currently I am on a full liquid diet which includes cream soups and protien shakes, or basically anything I can get through a straw (no caffeine or carbonation). I see my surgeon again on 1/3/2011 to see what is up next. Happy New Year to all!
