    Another Hair Loss Thread...

I've been losing my hair since about 3 months out and I'm 9 months out as of tomorrow. I've tried everything from biotin to biosil,,home remedies,,you name it and no luck. I think like pdxman said,,it's inevitable. I'm not happy about it but it is something I knew could possibly happen going in. I'm just surprised mine is still falling out and in generous amounts. I thought it would stop by now...not trying to scare you but it's just something that happens. I had nice thick long hair and it's still long but very thin and my sister (the hair stylist) said I have bald spots throughout my head. She said I could cut it but it would look thicker and not as noticable to just keep it long and wait it out. I hate to wash, brush or run my fingers through my hair now. It's definitely a downfall to the surgery.
  2. You look beautiful! Congratulations!!

    Humiliated

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Some people can be so cruel. Just look at it that you are taking steps to change and that lady probably won't ever change her sad sorry self. From looking at your photo, you look like a beautiful lady..keep smiling and don't let that experience get you down.

    How Much You've Lost

I understand..you guzzle liquids all day then you have to try to get actual food in too..it's really hard. Yeah, like the others suggested about inches..I would take measurements,,I'll bet you are losing inches. I'm a slow loser too and I usually have to do something different and drastic to make the numbers budge. Hang in there,,it'll happen!

    Are you watching carbs?
  8. I'm not too proud to ask,,could yall pray for me and my family? My husband was laid off work for 2 weeks..went back to work this week now they are saying he'll be laid off 2 more weeks. For anyone who has had to draw unemployment,,you know how it is. His last check was 3 times smaller than what he is used to getting and this weeks check will pay for our health insurance and benefits. I know it could be alot worse but times are really tough. We have alot of dr bills,,I can't get some of my scripts filled and I have my new glasses waiting on me to finish getting paid off. My son has special needs and I have to put him first and take care of expenses for him..his dad was just deployed and that is really hard for him. I have a large family and all my kids have needs,,they keep coming to us for help that we can't really give. Just alot going on and it's putting a strain on my family life. I know this isn't really sleeve related but the stress is making it very difficult for me to stay focused and I can't really afford the things I need for my diet right now so I'm just making do with what I have..can't eat much right now anyway. Just very stressed and depressed. I have alot of faith and I believe in prayer so if anyone out there could please reach out for me,,I would be so thankful.

    I Need Prayers

I'm so overwhelmed by all of the very kind responses. Thank you all so much. My husband is hoping to work for another employee during the lay off so here's hoping. I appreciate the continued prayers.

    How Much You've Lost

My story is so complicated because I weighed my highest 11/11 at 298,,then my weight went up and down while I was going through the sleeve process. I lost during my pre op then I had my surgery 12/27 and I'm not sure what my weight was at that time. But after surgery I had the leak which put me on tpn,,I gained 13 pounds back so the easiest way for me to keep track of my loss has been to go by the highest weight of 298..I weighed in at 212 today so I'm down 86 pounds. whew!

Looking For A Friend/mentor In Kentucky

I understand that..I'm almost 9 months out and feel like my loss should be higher but I'm hoping taking the slow road will limit the loose skin. I can relate to the hair loss too, my sister is a stylist and was cutting my hair..she told me I had 4 bald spots. I've been stressing over it ever since and that doesn't help. I'm making sure to take my vitamins and supplements daily as well as biosil. She's going to do scalp massage therapy on me but I don't know if any of that will help but at least my scalp will be as healthy as it can be for new hair.lol
  13. Challenge start weight 215 Weighed in today at 213.2 Halloween goal 199 I haven't felt well this week so I haven't worked out much or followed my plan like I should so I'm thankful to have any kind of loss. Goal this week is to get back on track!

Looking For A Friend/mentor In Kentucky

Hope you don't mind me chiming in..that's an average of almost 15 pounds a month,,I think that's amazing progress and you should be so proud of yourself. As for the hair loss, unfortunately it goes with the territory for some and you have to just let it take it's toll. From what I've heard, it grows back.

    How Would You Respond?

I struggled with whether I wanted to tell anyone or just a few or no one,,I thought long and hard. So I had the surgery and only a few knew,,close family. So after I lost my first 60 pounds I posted on fb and was so surprised how many "likes" and wonderful and positive comments I got. So I had a positive experience coming out about my wls. Now I've decided that if anyone says anything negative or just asks if I had surgery..I will say "Yes, I chose to take the hard way out instead of just dieting because that's the easy way out."

    Not Feel Well

I had a fever that went up to 104, left shoulder pain, stomach upset..like a bad case of the flu, fatigue, nausea. Sounds like you have alot of gas,,walk as much as you can. Run offs,,if you mean diarrhea..if you are early out and only on liquids this is probably the reason. If you fear something is wrong, call your dr.
  17. Why can't they balloon the area that is too tight (stricture?) and repair the hernia?? Second opinion.
  18. For those with concerns and worry about how to handle things post surgery as a mother... I think that the work is alot less since having surgery. My 12 year old is getting a mom who is healthier and more capable. He's seeing a mom that is happier and more motivated. I feel like doing more house work, activities and going places. Prior to my surgery I was grumpy and tired all the time..quite moody. I didn't want to leave the house out of fear that people would stare at me (my own insecurities) and running into old friends to see them shocked at seeing me at my worst..and I just felt lazy..like it was too much work to do much of anything. I do focus more on the food that we eat and have to put a little more effort into planning meals but that is something I should've been doing all along. I think having the surgery has made me a better mom..I'm more positive and energetic and my kids have noticed and are happy for me and I'm sure for themselves.
  19. I have 6 children, 1 still at home who has special needs as well. I'm also a very involved grandmother of 4.

I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve!

My surgeon had done thousands and I was only the 3rd person that had ever formed a leak. It's not a real common occurance but it can happen..one of the risks.
  22. I was going to say,,try measuring yourself. You are probably losing inches instead of pounds right now and I'm pretty sure that the pounds will decrease before long.

    NSV shout outs

You're doing awesome,,congrats on all your success!
  24. I have no suggestion for the hair loss..I've been losing mine since 3 months out. But if you are stalling that long, I'd try shaking things up a bit. Change your caloric intake or Lilmissdiva's bootcamp might be a good place to start,,it's worth a try. Cutting carbs helped me shed 6 pounds in 1 week and I always felt full. Slowly adding back healthy carbs this week and the weightloss slowed down but I'm still losing. Logging what you eat in a journal or at myfitnesspal.com helps you see exactly what you are taking in. Increase exercise might be another avenue you can take. I'm so sorry things aren't working out for you this far out.
  25. I had a leak early on and a stricture later on. With the leak, I had a high fever, left shoulder and arm pain, stomach pain and some nausea..the fever is what sent me off to the ER where they found the leak after a CT scan. With the stricture, I was having a hard time keeping food and liquids down and I always felt as though I had something stuck in my throat. They performed an EGD and ballooned the area,,no problems since. I had a wonderful surgeon that stayed on top of everything and I followed his direction and everything and turned out well. I've just paid close attention to my body and didn't ignore any sign out of the norm.
