  1. Hello there - I too had the band surgery on Friday Dec. 17th with Dr. McCloskey! I am wondering if we saw each other when waiting for our x-ray on the last day in the hospital? How are you feeling now? I am feeling really good and getting use to eating only little amounts of what we can eat right now. I had to go back Monday after the surgery to have 3 cc's removed from the band because I had a lot of swelling around the band post-op. Let me know how you are doing! Hope great!

  2. Got back from my post op appointment. weird that did not even check to make sure my incisions were healing, just asked how I was doing and such. I saw the PA and not the surgeon, but whatever. I asked what size band I had and she said it was the "Standard size" which she sad holds 14cc. I also asked if there was any saline in it yet and she did not say how much, just that the lap band always comes with something in it and so you always have something unless it is taken out. OK. I was told I can go back to doing cardio at the gym, but no lifting for 2 more weeks. Going to be kind of hard at work for 2 more weeks without being able to lift the larger animals. There are only 4 people there that know I had surgery,2 of my supervisors, they know what I had done, one of them told a new supervisor (which I was a little annoyed at, but she has the lap band too, so it is ok), and a girl I work with asked if I was sick last week, so I said I had surgery, she did not pry as to why, so I just left it at that. So having to ask people to pick up the big animals for me is going to be tough, but I'll manage. I go back in 4 weeks, and see the surgeon and maybe will get my first fill. Sounds good.

  3. I woul see an autoimmune specialist doctor. If not RA there are a lot of other similiar autoimmune diseases that have similair symptoms. I have several autoimmune diseases and could not be diagnosed until I saw a specialist. I hope they find out what it is quickly for you! I just had the band a week and a half ago, and it did aggravate my symptoms, but with you being 2 years out, I would guess it is probably not related.

    Good luck! God Bless!

  4. Hi everyone - I was banded on 12/17, so into my second week now. It is amazing to me how some are eating chili a few days out and some like me on liquids still. First week was just diluted sugar free juices, Water, clear broth and sugar free frozen fruit bars. Last Friday, 12/24 I could start cream Soups, Protein Drinks and yogurt, main focus - eating Protein. This Fri. I can start pureed/soft foods and that is the diet for 2 weeks! Just certain meats, eggs, veggies and fruit pureed plus most definately the Protein Shakes. I am happy to say I have lost 19 pounds so far, but do get hungry. I had extreme continuous gas and belching 2 days after surgery and had to go back in the hospital to get 3 cc's removed from the band because it was not allowing the liquids to go down due to swelling around the band. Not sure when they will put that saline back, post-op appt. is next Tues. I was glad to find you all here, it's great to talk to people going through this too! J
