Phatty, my husband did not really participate in the grieving process when we had the m/c, and that was hurtful. At least your partner is showing some feelings, but blaming you is not good. It's a tough time. If you have access to a couples counselor to help you through this period, it might be a good idea.

I live in Iowa City. My surgery will be in Grinnell (David Kermode). The university hospital here only does Rouen-Y so I am traveling in your direction. Good luck to you! We will have to compare notes as time goes on.

Hello March Bandsters. My surgery is 3/29/07. I live in Iowa. My surgery will be in Grinnell, Iowa. I am a bit nervous, but mostly because I am planning to have surgery Thursday / return to work Monday (and not tell my coworkers what's up). Plus, my husband leaves for a week-long biz trip on Monday, and we have three kids to cart around (seemingly from dawn to dusk). We are trying to line up some help to come and stay with me while he's gone. My mom is coming but sometimes she's as much work as the kids. At least she can drive them around and manage stuff while I rest. (They are mostly self-sufficient anyway.) I am nervous about the anesthesia, the pain, the catheter (ick) and the fact that they might make me stay overnight. I am pushing for same-day release but will play it by ear. This is a great website.

Phatty, I am sorry you are going through this. I seriously doubt that the issue has anything remotely to do with nutrients. Think about how many women are unable to even keep food down during those early months. There are MANY women who are so sick they simply cannot eat at all, and they go on to carry healthy pregnancies. I think you experienced a basic miscarriage that was completely out of your control in any way, and I'm very sorry. I am also sorry that your partner is blaming you. I hope you two can resolve these hurt feelings. Your partner is probably lashing out in pain. I had a m/c 7 years ago. It is a painful experience and it is easy to blame yourself. The fact is that m/cs are very, very common and there are a million reasons why they happen, and 99.9 percent of them are beyond your control.

Hello all, I am new here! I am scheduled for an upper GI tomorrow. I have heard that this may not be covered by insurance. Has anyone else experienced this? My banding surgery IS covered by insurance / has been approved. The only thing I have left to do is the upper GI (I did the MMPI already). It seems odd that the surgery is covered but a diagnostic test being done FOR the surgery is in question. :cry I was told that this surgeon checks everyone for reflux before he'll do the banding. Thoughts? Oh, and this looks like a great board. There is a lot of great info here. :biggrin1:

Hello, I am new here. I have been approved for lap band and will undergo surgery in late January or early February. I keep hearing -- and have been told by my insurance case worker -- that recovery can be as little as 4-7 days. Not total recovery, but to the point where you can work. That sounds unreal to me but I hope it's true! This looks like a great site.
