  1. Post op are gummy vitamins ok? I know that sounds funny, but I'm currently taking an adult gummy vitamin and wondering if I can continue it after surgery.
  2. I told my in-laws today, mainly because my MIL had the lapband a few years ago, and I figured she'd understand a little. She didn't. She was very negative, although that's probably related to her regret at getting the band (she hates it!). I told my sister in law because her and I used to do biggest loser competitions between us to keep motivated, and I would feel like a horrible cheater if she wanted to start another after I'd gotten my sleeve and I didn't tell her. She was very interested and supportive, so we will see. I told my mom a few days ago and my husband knew when I started the bariatric options classes that I'd be having something done. I haven't told anyone else yet though, and I don't plan to tell anyone else unless they ask.
  3. Thank you all. I'm also wondering if my goal should be maybe a little lower in case of rebounding, so I'll settle around 150?
  4. So. true. I just want to be able to run after my son and catch him. lol. If I can do that I will be happy. I would like to look hot too, but that may just have to be the added bonus
  5. I was hoping for some motivation. I realize that everyone is different, but I was hoping you could tell me your starting weight (or size), and your weight(orsize) at six months post op. I would really appreciate this. Thank you!!

    Birth Control after VSG

I was hoping to have the Paraguard IUD reinserted before surgery, but I had severe complications with my first one, so hmm... guess I'll just have to grill my surgeon a little more.
  7. Wow!! Congratulations to you all, you've all been so successful!! Thank you for your responses.
  8. I'm not due to have my surgery until sometime in March, but I have Kaiser insurance, so we have to do the classes first. They require us to start our vitamin supplements and protein supplements so they're a habit by the time our surgery gets here, but they also expect us to lose at least 10% of our body weight before we have surgery. I have started a new birth control pill, so I'm grateful I haven't gained anything, but I'm wondering how I'm supposed to lose almost 30# by march...any tips or advice? I am on a 1400 cal diet, I'm just not losing more than 1/2 a lb. a week. Also, they require us to take the protein supplements, but I seem to have trouble digesting the whey protein, any recommendations?
  9. Thank you, I'll go try some. Can I ask how was the surgery?

    Hello

HI, this is my first forum post. I have just started on my lap-band journey. I am taking the classes required by my insurance to get banded, and am on class 5 out of 12. The Nurse Practitioner supervising the program says that if all goes well I should be getting banded the second week of March 2011. Which is the week after I graduate my LVN program (YAY me). I am having a little trouble with motivation for exercising by myself at this point, and would greatly appreciate any motivation or tips you could spare. Nice to meet you all! Sarah
