Congratulations!!!
I love reading positive posts like that - CONGRATULATIONS!!!
And easy loss of the next 90 :-)

Thank you for all replies!!!
Looking forward to the old good regular days… just with less input and output :-)
-
I was very very regular before the band. 2-3 times a day regular ... I did eat a lot :-)
Now with the pre-op/post-op diets - it is all liquids for weeks now.
I KNOW I don’t eat solids and it would make #2 a rear event or vanishing in my case.
Just wondering when will #2 come back?
Is it only after I switch to mushy foods?

Please take this poll

Rachel,
If anyone will tell you that they were never worried or afraid prior to the surgery - they are either lying or should not pass the psych exam.
Having or not having surgery is your decision – I would not tell you to cancel or not :-)
But being worried and afraid is absolutely normal.
-
Just curious to find out if it is same for most of us ... or totally random.
Thx for taking a poll.

Thank you for replying - I am glad I am not the only one.

Day 3 after surgery. Was hopping for no complications and easy recovery.. But S%$# happens. Due to my old surgeries, banding took over 2h and got 8 halls in my tummy.
I am so-so glad I did my research and found the RIGHT doctor - Dr Fielding. I am sure if it was any other doc I would of had an open surgery.
So now I am home and recovering. I can drink, and I am forcing the required Protein Drinks in me.
Forcing is the key word. I am obviously not hungry - only 3 days post opp. But I am also afraid I will fail in weight loss or even worth will require revision or band removal if I eat.
So my question is:
Is it normal to be scared of food even liquids after the surgery?

CONGRATS! CONGRATS! CONGRATS!!!!!!

I got three different brands before my pre-op diet. All chocolate - Walmart, BodyMilk, Premier from Costco) and I am OK with all of them. I guess I am of the lucky few ... or just don’t have good taste :-) They all a bit too sweet for me.
I plan to spend some time after the surgery (tomorrow YEY) to find an all natural whey Isolate. If anyone has any suggestion – please let me know here or pm.

I am being banded March 2nd.
And I am surprisingly calm today.
A week ago I was realy scared, and a week before that anxious and nervous.
Two weeks on liquids really calmed me down I guess :-)

All - thank you for the answers!!!

Anyone knows if it is OK to wear girdle / corset / shapeware or something like that after the banding while losing weight?
Wondering if it is squeezing pouch/port and should not be used after surgery...
And if it helps skin to shrink.
Any input?

Congratulations and Good Luck!!!

I see you are from NY - are you going to have surgery @ NYU?

Anyone scheduled for surgery @ NYU on the 2nd of March?

Same here... So many answers here. I am addicted.

Robin, Mary, Heather... Do you still have same hunger? I am pre-opp would like to know if even if you CAN eat as before you might be less hungry.
-
Might be because it is healthier to sleep on the right side? I know I know it is silly reason to place port slightly to the left... and there might be a good medical reason to do i it ... maybe something to do with the internal organs 'layout'?
-
Ports for chemo therapy also placed few inches below the collar bone. They still flip, and the bump is very visible even before weight loss.

I would strongly suggest to follow up with the doctor office if you feel like things are not moving. I asked and worked with office manager after I was not able to reach the 'right' person. Office manager Melisa was very very helpful.
And my insurance pre-approval case manager Elaine from Anthem BCBS - was always reachable, I had her direct phone number.

Hi guys...
I am glad to report back that after some crying and hugging and debating.... my closest people are on board and support me 100%.
You are right, it is MY life, I know ME the best, and I would of had the surgery with their blessing or without. But I am glad I have support beyond this forum.

I will be on the 2 weeks pre-op diet to minimize fat infiltration of the liver (shrink the liver).
Unfortunately I had an MRI few weeks ago. I say unfortunately because my MRI showed "normal size liver with minimal fatty infiltration".
HERE GOES FAT PERSON REASONING - Now I have a reasonable excuse to cheat on my pre-op diet.
I can not believe I am admitting to this.
What is/was your pre-op diet?

All docs have different pre and post diets.
Mine pre - op was 2 weeks of 50+protein; under 35 fat and carbs; under 1000cal.
Liquids, sugar free Jello, pudding, and if very very hungry 1 cup of veggies. I was loving my veggies cup every day :-)
