  1. Sorry for being late too, shannan here checking in at 216...I will take it! Sitting here waiting for the first fill, hope its not too harsh, let u all know next week
  2. Great news! I have my goal pants hanging ontop of the mirror so every day I see them for motivation...2 more sizes to go and congrats on going back to school...I was only out for 2 years and I thought it was hard to go back, but soooo worth it.

    Soda flavored icees

If you are talking about icee...the fluffy icy drink I find at the movie theaters, yes there is carbination and lots of sugar as that's what helps keep it fluid like and not freez up according to their web site. Plus like said above u normally drink them with a straw so that puts even more air into the pouch. If you are talking about ice pops then no, there is no carbination in them and yes they make sugar free ice pops in soda flavors that are ok for bandsters to have. Hope that clears it up for you

    Nurses

Kim- I too am an er nurse and its hard making the time some nights to be like "ok I'm gonna go eat my dinner now", expecially last night when I had 2 cprs (both survived, yay!) A near delivery, and an intubation hold...so sometimes I set an alarm on my phone at the desk and when it goes off if I can get away I run and try to take at least 15 min...otherwise I hit the snoose button and when it goes off in 10 more min I can normally run then...my co workers think I go to text by bf bc his ring tone is the same, but hey...whatever works. I have also learned that after the smokers go out for their 10 min break and leave me and one other nurse in the er that its time for my 10 min break...and since some find a way to go out 10 times a shift if I eat 1/10th my dinner at a time it gets done
  5. Nothing....well, I didn't get anything. Lay on the table, let me take .2 sec to look at ur incisions to make sure they r not infected, u keeping liquids down, great go to mushys, and see u in 4 weeks to discuss a fill....I waited 30 min for my appt and no lie I was in the room for 3 min... nothing to be worried about

    Spring Break Challenge

Woohoo down 3 lbs this weigh in, only lost .5 in another challenge last week and was sooo upset over it, feels good to be on track again. Doc cleared me to go back to full aerobics and can't wait, zumba here I come
  7. Shannan- down 2.5 lbs to 217.... a total of 3 without any fills so I feel a little better this week then last, hope it keeps up. And yes, I hate it when I go to the docs office I'm always 3 lbs more...stupid jeans and shoes keep up the good work everyone
  8. Mine was fast, after ALL the paperwork was in, pcp didn't send letter till I called the office every hr for 2 days straight, but that was in on a wed and I was approved the following Tuesday, good luck!
  9. I had surg 12/15 and was told 24 hrs later shower, no soaking. My stuff was called dermabond and it all just came off all 5 incisions 1/10, so its long lasting...just remember, don't pick or else the skin under it might not be ready and u could get infected I too used anti bacterial soap for the first 3 weeks post op, then went back to my moisturizer
  10. Like dave and jackie I work in the hospital and I see how my "thinner" co-workers complain about obese people but then when we see they have had WLS all I ever hear is "see, the magic wand didn't work" even tho one person had it and is open about it ppl still say behind her back "she cheated, look at what she eats now, its not fair..." she was my inspiration for starting this whole process, and although I see she is 3 yrs out and just maintaning so she doesent always make the best food choices and eats crap at work sometimes (junk food, candy, cookies, chips, ect. Are always available behind the nurses station...at the hospital isn't that horrible?) she's been there for me. After all that everyone knew I had "some surgery" bc after telling my boss in confidentiality she went out and told everyone so that they could pick up my hrs instead of her just re-doing the schedual and when ppl ask I tell them it was a "personal private" surgery...and that's enough for most but some nosey people keep proding and I don't tell them what, just some abd surgery since I'm back to work and on light duty. Its funny to hear what ppl think I had done...breast reduction (I wish, those are next if they don't shrink some , hernia, gallbladder, tubal ligation...but only 2 ppl have guessed correctly, but never to my face. I figure like someone said above when I know the wt is comin off and stayin off I might be more open, but not right now. Plus, the comment above, about ppl see u had it and then get it is true...the 2 who has guessed correctly asked my friend at work who had the WLS how to start the process....I figure I will have to tell them when I see them at the joint pre post op groups my surg requires, but like everyone there knows I'm a closet bandster so they are the best (Hope that helps some, if not thanks for letting me get that all off my chest, hard not telling anyone and those who do know...so, mom, dad were very supportive after the initial shock as I didn't tell mom n dad till post op...now onto tell best friends next week when I see them as someone posted on fb "hope surg went well" and they saw and I didn't tell them over the phone, I think its easier to do in person

    Red Lobster

Banded 12/15 and went there last week for the bf birthday...shared the 2 for 30 meal, had 1 CBB with my salad (ate half of it) and 3 grilled shrimp and 1 bite of the dessert and that was enough! But I just picked at the CBB and spread out eating it over salad and meal, not all at once...but how amazing having red lobster leftovers for 2 other meals, before there would be none! Enjoy

    lap band prejudice

To whoever posted that link..THANK YOU!!!!! I am not telling anyone yet, I'm too scared I won't lose the wt and then be made fun of just like I was for being obese...that was everything I was thinking and more and with me working in an er that recieves a lot of drunks, drug seekers/doers, sex addicts, and people that are obese to hear the commments my co-workers make about the "fat" people and not the addicts it always made me mad..I think I will post this on our board and perhaps be more open about my wls choice as many of my co-workers would benefit from it too
  16. Wow that's great, thanks a lot! Idk who suggested adding the one min jog to the walks, but omg that kicked my bum today..I do 50 min on the treadmill and decided to add 1 min jog after every 10 min so after 55 min on there today my legs are jello...and I love it!! Thanks again, good luck everyone

    20 somethings!

How did everyone do on new years eve? Any resolutions? For the first time in a long time lose weight isn't my first one, just eat better and less and let the band help me along...but as always exercise more is number 2, just as soon as the doc ok's it
  20. Yup, my doc said one glass of non carbonated alcoholic beverage is fine per day....so one before midnight and one after

    Plateau this early???

Wow thanks for this post! I was beginning to think I failed and that I wasn't doing something right bc I'm on mushys now and only lost 9lbs since surgery and I swear the scale is broken bc my clothes fit much looser but its only 9lbs, plus I was worried bc I'm getting hungry and it was sooooo nice the first 8 days post op thinking I had "restriction" only for it to suddenly go away one day...this really is hell. I too want to get back to the full use of the gym but for now its only the tredmill. How far out is everyones fills? Mine is scheduled for early feb and I was banded mid dec, so 6-8 weeks...seems forever!
  22. I have a very demanding job, RN in the level 1 trauma center for a 50mile radius, let's just say I run all night long, get kicked/spit/punched at, and have to bend and lift like I'm a weight builder...I had surgery on wed, back to work the following Friday and that was almost too much time off...I think one solid week and I could have gone back...I'm at triage now b/c the doc didn't want a psych pt to try to hit me so I have an additional 2 weeks "light duty" but I still do everything my job requires except take violent people

    20 somethings!

25 banded 12/15...wanted to make sure I would see 35 and at the rate I was going it wasn't gonna happen. Anyone else get some flack for our age and our choice? I feel like the reflex reaction I get is "but your so young" and I keep saying back "yes but I had this and that and this..." just wonderin...
  24. Whey ready

Do you wish you brought more

Change of clothes, clean undies, gas x bc most surgons don't order it, cell phone, cell phone charger, magazines (not book, too many naps) robe for hall walking, and my shoes I wore were slip on/off crocks that I wore to walk the halls...and yes I used everything (hair brush, tooth brush and paste, and deodorant also!!)
  25. Fay- make sure ur either deep breath in, cough, let it out or using an incentive spirometer- breathing device that measures how deep ur breaths are, pain in lungs can be fluid and if ur not breathing in deep enough air can't get to the bottom of ur lungs and help move that fluid out, = penumonia, yuck! I know it hurts, hold a small pillow to ur abd and every hr 10 times breath in as deep as u can and let it out. IF it feels like a finger size space, not just hurting to breath deep, more like it hurts right there and only there you need to call ur doc NOW, could be a PE from a clot after surgery. Good luck with everything, here's to a new us!!
