    AM I EATING ENOUGH??

I was also told that if I am not hungry not to eat. But I was also told to make sure that I get my Protein everyday. Since it is hard for me to get in enought solid protein everyday, I drink a whey Protein Drink in the mornings that has 60 grams of protein and since I have been doing that I have noticed a tremendous increase in energy and I have been averaging 7-10 lbs loss per month... Like someone else said, we are all different and what works for one may not work for you. It is a lot of trial and error until you find yours. You have to learn what you can eat and cannot eat because of the band and it changes with each fill. Talk to your surgeon and your nutritionist to see what they feel is best for you and listen to your body. Make sure you are getting enough protein daily and remember to take you vitamins! Good Luck!!
  2. I was at a point at the very beginning where I was exercising 5 days a week (running, walking and resistance) and I did not drop a pound for about 2 weeks!!! Talk about disappointing and frustrating... Well a couple of people on here told me to take a look at my calorie intake and to make sure I was eating enough. If you are not getting enough calories the weight still won't come off when you are exercising... I knew that I was eating healthy so my food choices weren't the issue. I started to eat more and incorporated a whey protien drink in the mornings for Breakfast and dropped 10 lbs in a week!! I know sounds impossible huh? But if it hadn't happened to me personally, I wouldn't believe it either. Now I have been averaging 7 - 10 lbs a month weight loss although I did have one month I only lost 5 lbs but that was still good and that was due to not having a fill that month. So in essence keep up what you are doing and make the adjustments accordingly and you will see the results. The weight will come off and you will be FIT as well! Good Luck!

    Crackers

I ate my tuna salad... ect with cottage cheese during the soft mushie stage. Although I read on here about people that eat things such as crackers, bread, toast, chips and hard taco shells... I can't get any of these things down no matter how much chewing I do. I was banded 07/14/2010 and though I do wish I could eat a little bread from time to time for the most part I don't miss it. Good luck with your journey!!
  4. Is anyone else having a problem with losing their hair? My hair has always been pretty thick so it is not noticable to others right now but it is to me. If it keeps coming out the way it has for the last couple of months I am going to be in trouble. Do you know of anything that would help with this problem??? HELP!!!

    Hair Loss

Thank you Papoose!! I will stop to pick up some Biotin on my way home today!
  6. When I initially decided to get banded, I felt like this should be the magical band that would immediately melt the pounds away and in a few months I would be skinny and fine!! Then reality set in and I realized that it was going to take a little more work on my part. The thing is that I am so glad that i opted for the band because it allows me to look at food differently and to actually take the time to appreciate the good flavor of my and others cooking because I have to eat slowly. I can loose as much or as little weight as I want. I have control over when I feel that I have lost enough weight. My technician laughs at me when I go for my fills because I am always saying that I don't feel that I am losing weight fast enough. When in reality I am. I was banded on July 14 2010 and have lost 50 lbs so far and gone from a size 20 to a 14. You are doing GREAT!!! 28 lbs in 2 1/2 months is awesome!! Keep up the good work, exercise, continue to make the right food choices and you will see that weight come off and stay off!!

    I HATE MY SCALE!!!

I try to only weigh once a week on the same day each week and to keep the scale in the exact same spot so as not to have too much flucuation... If u weigh urself everyday u are going to see variations due to water weight gain and loss and it can be very discouraging. A friend of mine suggested having my daughter hide the scale from me and only giving it back to me to weigh every couple of weeks... Stay encouraged! This is the raod to lifestyle and eating changes! Good luck!
  8. My doc said either chewable or liquid vitamins. I started out using gummie but they didn't give me the energy I needed throughout the day. I went to vitamin world and talked to the sales lady who just happened to be a personal trainer that has some banded clients and she recommended a vitamin called Origin Of Life Complete Liquid Nutrition and believe me when I say I absolutely love this vitamin... It gives me sustainable energy, has my hair and nails growing like crazy and it taste pretty good!

    What have you lost...

I have lost a small bale of hay but need to get to a 5 gallon bottle of water/average human leg...
  10. I went on Wednesday and they added .4cc to bring me to 6.0cc in a 10 cc band and I am pretty tight right now. They say that everyone is different and there will be different sweet spots as you lose as well. So what works for one won't necessarily work for another. All I can say is that you usually recognize it when you are there. Stay encouraged!!
  11. Hi you guys!!!!!! So glad to hear from everyone and the read your success stories! It is such an inspiration to read how well everyone is doing. Although I know it has been a tough road and adjustment for all of us, I seems to be going fairly well for those who have responded. I was banded on July 14th and I tell you it has been an interesting journey. I had my 5th fill on Dec 15th and I am pretty tight right now with 6cc in a 10cc band. So now I am having to really pay attention to my chewing and the size of my bites but it is all worth it. I have not had any pb episodes but plenty of sliming at times when rushed to eat like at lunch time at work, so I have learned to just eat what I can at lunch and take the rest back to my desk in case I want to finish later (usually I don't). Not too much night snacking for me but when I do I have become obsessed with cucumber slices and ranch dip! ... It is like having chips and dip for me because it satifies the craving for something crunchy without all the fat and calories! I have been averaging between 7-10 lbs weight loss per month. The lowest was one month that I didn't get a fill because I had lost 10 lbs the previous month and they didn't want to do the fill because of that. I lost 5 lbs that month. All in all 42 lbs down and very happy with that for now. CONGRATULATIONS again on all of your successes and keep up the good work!!
