    Just Curious

When you were put on the 6 month weight management program what is this for and what do you do,I am just wondering because if I could loose weight I would have done it on my own before the program , (Is this just a period where it make you aware of what you are eating or is this a time where we are to diet like we would on the pre-op diet-please let me know-HELP-because I don't want to go back to my doctor and not loose a pound?.....camille01

I really want to thank each and everyone of you for your encouragement,I was really excited after I left the doctors office because after I wrote down all my questions and the doctor answered them her self I felt that she took that special intrest in me,and I had a chance to make up my mind as to the procedure that I really want,I can tell you after I left and went to a group meeting I was so incited I really had my eyes wide opened to the testamonies....my heart went out to the people that had already had the surgery and came to share there experiance,,I think I want to set the fine example and be able to share my story to incurrage people too.....It really makes you feel really good...I just want to thank you all for your help...now I have my work cur out for me...I have 3 months left 4 more appointments left and I am finito-finished.....camille01

    Protein Shakes

Hi Jodi, the ones that I have found the best is On GNC.com you said it right so when you go there look for (its a lil expensive if you dont have the gold card)Is the Isopure, when you go there on the website look it up and read some of the reviews thats how I found out about it,and there is the unjury.com as well I havnt tried it you but if you can find a good one stick with it because it will be the one that will do you good,I have been trying different ones before the surgery because once you get banded you dont want to experiment because when it hit your gag reflex it might make you sick if you know what I mean..gool luch with your Journey....camille01
  4. When I went to the doctor I had wrote a lot of questions down and my doc .answered all that I had asked, and 1 questionI asked was,I am scared of the erosion of the band and she said that there has been an Increase in band erosion, that kinda scared me and she said that there was some failure in the produce,I was just wondering if this is where she didn't want to do the lapband or there was really an increase in the erosion,so I thought I would check it out and read up on this...I went to the next best place to look and that was sleevetalk.com.when I did I was suprised when I saw several band had eroded through and they had to either have the band put back in or change the surgery.and of course they chose another surgery so they wont have to worry about it,so they chose the sleeve.....I am now leaning more towards the sleeve now....but I am sceptable about it and I am also loosing the support of my husband....I feel like im loosing all the way around...so please if anyone has delt with erosion in the band fill me in as to what happened and how do I get over these weird feelings........camille01

  6. Hope this info is important to some one who needs it,Once I made my 1st canceltation with the Doctor that will do the surgery on me you will have 6 appointments to make and to attend after your first one,you have a psychological assessment appt. neutritionist for your 6 month weight management unless your insurance doesnt require it,Labs for blood test, support group,Ultrasound, and you will need to get a medical clerance from your pcp....the appointment are fairly easy to get but dont miss any......I wish you all the luck in the world....sleevless4now...

    I'm On My Way .....YEAH...

I am on my way ...I have my canceltation with the doctor yesterday and she answer all of the questions I needed answered, but I am here to tell you If you have something to ask that is very important PLEASE WRITE IT DOWN.because when you get infront of the doctor all leaves the mind, your thoughts will go bland....so please write them down and put a star beside the most important ones... I had a very important question to ask the surgeon and most of you will agree,(why is there so many lapband patients converting to the sleeve or the gastric bypass,? and the answer will suprise most of you(there has been a decrease in lapband surgerys because of the failure in the product and that scared me,....I was thinking about the lapband ......until I did a lil research on the product..I would have never thought about changing to the sleeve...and I am glad that I did................sleevless4now......

    So here it is....

it sounds like you need to get involved with the people at your job that has had the lapband done and find out what makes them so succesfull, find one of these people with a GYM membership to a gym that has a pool open in the winter and make your move,,,or you can go on the web and search for gyms with pools or hot tub and go and relax with your male friend.I think you need a vacation..some time to keep from getting so stressed out,the old saying is IF THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY. I have considered the lapband and the sleeve,I go to the docroe tomarrow and I am gonna ask plenty of questions....but I an leaning more towards the sleeve.......good luck and keep a smile..and keep your head up....God loves you and he has faith in you so have faith in your self....camille01

    I need opinions

hi shayshay,I dont want to discurrage you at any cost but I have signed in to verticalsleeve.com and looked at the friends on there that had the lapband and they had it takes out and was approved to get the sleeve surgery done,I don't have any yet and I hace my canceltation tomarrow Jan 10th so I am gonna ask to see why I am kinda confused but I am leaning more now towards the sleeve,I see where you can eat what you want with in reason, there is a hunger protein that is in the lower part of the stomach and when you get the sleeve that part is cut so when you eat you have to remind your self that it is time to eat...I read a lot of info and it sounds pretty good...go and take a look and see what you think...camille01

    help

the only way I found was to call the doctors office where you went to the siminar and have the nurse to put you on the list if some one was to cancel or reschedule.I went to 2 siminars 1 in november and the hospital didn't accept my insurance and they were gonna send me a long way from where I live<which would have been ok but it was 30 minutes drive from were I lived and I chose to go to another siminar and this hospital was 15 minutes away and I choose the one closer to me but I had my 2nd siminar on Dec 2nd and got my 1st appoimtnent on the 10th of Janurary so I'm not gonna complain, you can uae your spare time to research over some more info on www.lapband.com and this will help you alot......I hope ....camille01

    Bronx Beginners

Hello I am A Bronx Beginner,I went to my 1st siminar at Monte-Foire Hospital on Dec 2nd And I am so excited but I am worried at the same time,The only 1 thing I have to get approved through the insurance , I am trying to get a major surgery approved now but the only thing I have had approved before was medication,Has anyone that has Ghi and Bcbs ever went over this hurdel.I am hopping that I can jump high enough to go over it with flying colors,,....please give me your input,I have already started the process without have insurance approvel and I dont want to be builded up for a big let down......If you are out there let me know if your dates are with mines I have my 1st appointment is on Jan 10th and the group meeting on the 11th,let me know if you have these dates at Monte-Foire around 3.00pm..(I need a buddy)..................camille01
  23. HEy Don't get discouraged, the 6 month weight management is to benifite you because I used it as a test because it gave me time to really think acout the surgery, and to make all the other Dr.'s appointments so Once you go to your siminar call and ask the nurse at the surgeons office and have her to e-mail you the form and print off 6 forms and get started, thats what I did and I thought it was a waste of time too but if you know it has to be done why not just do it,you dont have to rush your self in to loosing weight ,they want to know that you will wait and that you are giving it a try, trust me if you can do these test and stick with the program, you deserve the surgery, but make sure you do all the steps because if you miss any of them expecially the group therapy we have to do 2 times, they will start you back from square 1 and dont no body want to do that....just put your foot forward and don't take any steps backward.....goodluck and leep us posted with your progress because I will....I havn't had my surgery either but my 1st Appointment with the surgeon is in 5 days......camille01

    having second thought....

Hi Susi, form my understanding once you go to your 1st dr.appointment they require you to attend a group meeting with some of the friends that have the band already and those who are undesided ,I have my 1st dr's appt.in 5 days if I see you on here ill let you know forsure but once I make my 1st appt.I will be going to a support group on the 11th ,I don't have the Band either and I am so excited....if you get a chance go to lapband.com and read and listen to some of those peoples story,,AND also there is the SLEEVE surgery that they don't reroute the intest.you can find info on this website for that surgery,I have a girl friend that wants that surgery....it sounds good but please make sure that this is what you want or it wont be a success story.......keep posting and let us know what you desided to do.....camille01
