  1. I think I ate vegiatrian refried beans and cottage cheese and mashed potatoes everyday for the first six months. I can hardly eat any of that stuff now. I miss salads a lot. For some reason that is about the only thing I don't eat since my surgery. Salad, cabbage and red meat. Salads just didn't fill me up and cabbage gave me really bad gas pains. I chose to give up the red meat. I eat a lot of Tuna Fish, chicken, turkey and mexican dishes. I love to make dishes with black beans, turkey burger and other veggies. I have a turkey meatloaf receipe that is amazing. Lots of veggies in it.

    Brachioplasty

I am a 1 year and 8 mos post surgery and have lost half my body weight. I'm about 15# from goal and have decided I NEED Brachioplasty. I can't stand my bat wings. People tell me that is the first thing they notice to lead them to beleive I had rapid weight loss. I'm curious if anyone can offer advice on the procedure. I live in Michigan. Does insurance ever cover these surgial procedures due to weight loss? I also know I need a TT and Breast Lift but the arms are so noticable. Thank you! Rebecca

  12. Happy New Year Everyone! I'm new to this thread-I am another one who is very happy the Holiday's are over and I'm ready to bring on the new year. So far so good......I was banded on October 19, 2010. Up until my most recent fill last Tuesday I did not feel any restriction. I am pretty sure that is what I'm feeling now. If I eat too fast I feel a slight pain in my chest-almost like food is stuck in my throat. I take a deep breath and a break for a few min and then I'm fine. Is this what it feels like to have restriction? I'm eating about 8 oz of food at a time and feeling full. I really think that I finally found my "sweet spot". I'm continuing to make healthy food choices and i work out 30-45 min every single day. I'm feeling GREAT!!!! The one thing that I'm struggling with is finding new healthy food choices that aren't "too" healthy. My husband is less than impressed with my new menu. He does not like fish-if anyone can reccomend any chicken or ground turkey receipes I would really apprecaite it. It is just the two of us so making two different dinners each night is silly. Thank you! Mistybrooks
  13. Hi! I had my third fill today. I am at 8cc's now and still don't feel restricition. We'll see what the next few days bring but recently I have been getting hungry after about 3 hours of eating. I have good weight loss averaging 2.2 lbs a week though. I think I may just need to increase my Protein for Breakfast. It seems that breakfast is the meal that just does not stick with me. I have been having a bowl of Cereal and a piece of toast-I really think I better go back to the egg whites and Protein shakes. In the beginning we just have to be patient and find wha works best for each of us. Everyone is different. Hang in there and good luck!

    Dec 6th getting Lap Band

Hi! Welcome! I am also new to this site...I just started today. I did my liquid diet just 8 weeks ago and it is hard. I just kept focusing on the whole reason I was having the surgery and stayed positive. Keep yourself busy and be sure to drink lots of water or diet juice. I actually was never starving on the liquid diet. I had to force myself to have 1 or 2 of the shakes a day to get them all in. I always felt full. I think it was because I drank a lot of water. Did you try sugar free popscicles? Don't get discouraged-you can do it! Good Luck and keep us all posted.
  22. Hello Everyone! I just wanted to give a brief introduction. I just found this site today and I am very excited to meet new people and learn from all of you! I was banded almost 6 weeks ago. I keep trying to find a hobby-my newest interest is healthy cooking. I look forward to sharing new receipes and cooking tips. Have a wonderul Sunday!

    Introducing myself

Hello Crystal! Nice to meet you! I also just joined the site today...I am really looking forward to chatting with others who have similarities to my new lifestyle. I was just banded 6 weeks ago. Congratulations on your weight loss! When I read what you said about your friend losing her band-I got scared. Could you share with me what you mean that she "lost" her band. That is so sad. Enjoy your day and have a great week! Mistybrooks
