  1. I was very nervous too but it wasn't bad at all. The facility I went to was very nice and the staff was amazing. The only part I didn't like was having to sit while they "hook you up" with a million cords. It sounds scary but not really. As far as what to bring... Wear comfy clothes and bring an extra blanket just in case you're cold natures. They give you more blankets if you ask but hospital blankets are so thin. I brought my pillow from home and my Bible bcuz I read it every night. You'll sleep fine. The cords aren't that inhibiting. Just make sure you tinkle before they hook you up. Good luck!

  2. I started my preop diet today too! I only have 7 days but I already know they will be VERY long. You're so lucky to have a partner with you to share the pain. The chicken broth wasnt as disgusting as the protien shake surprisingly enough. I guess I thought they'd taste like slimfast. Boy was I wrong! Is it just me or is it extremely draining to the point that you can't even exercise like we're supposed to?

  3. I will definitely pray for you. I had people pray for me and I know it made a difference. I have Tricare Prime South also known as Humana military and they were extremely quick with getting me approved. Good luck!

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow but don't have approval for surgery yet. God willing the approval wiil come soon. I have a date of December 23 for sure if approval comes through. I may also get moved back to the 21. Please say a prayer for me that Humana comes through or I've spent all this money on Optifast for nothing and starved through all the Christmas celebrations.. Does anyone feel like they're about to lose one of their best friends? I do :( . I know this must be normal but it stinks. This too shall pass. Thanks to everyone out there and God Bless Us All.

  4. Thank you everyone for all of the prayers!! I know they're helping! It's so good to know there are people who believe that God uses this as a tool to help us live happier and healthier lives. Our bodies are temples, but hopefully mine will be a small one soon! :)

I had my first consult with the doc today and my BMI was 40.7... barely putting me over the edge! Now I just have the nutritionist appointment and the sleep study, then I'm on my way to get sent off for approval. :) Yay!!

  5. Hi all!

I got my referral to the bariatric surgeon today from my primary doctor and made my consultation for Thursday the 2nd. I'm really anxious though because on my referral it says that my BMI is 38 even though it's really barely 40. My insurance requires it to be 40 for the surgery since I have no comorbities, so I'm praying I get approved for the surgery by my insurance. I'm hoping that since they approved the referral that they will also approve the surgery, but I still need all the prayers I can get from those who believe.

I'm so excited to have the surgery. I've been overweight since I was 6 and weighed 120 pounds in 3rd grade. I wasn't one of those kids you see on Maury or anything, but I was "big boned" and matured a lot faster than most kids my age. I was 5'5" in fifth grade. I've been big my whole life and always wanted to be like everyone else. I'm tired of wearing Large size clothing, wearing body shapers to hide my rolls, and being uncomfortable in a swim suit. I'm ready for a new me.

I love reading everyone's posts and I'm so glad I found this forum. Thanks to all who pray for me, and I'll do the same for you!
