I'm in week one of my two weeks off and would not want to go back (lots of walking here an there and everywhere) before2weeks. Even when I do return I know I'll have to make an effort to chill out and not expect to jump in full force.
-
I'm 8 days post and day 5 was much easier then it has gotten much easier for me with each day. I have no issues now and can drink bigger and more frequent gulps. I was shocked at how quickly this happened. You'll get there!

Thanks ladies. No problems going, actually all I've had to this point is diareah ( sp ?).

Great ideas,! Excited that we have a Trader Joe's coming to my area soon! Do they have a lot of healthy foods, is that why it is so popular?
I did find cheese crackers (sounds like the homemade ones people mentioned) in the health section of our Price Chopper. Very low carbs and high Protein and ready to eat from the package. Not to the point where I can eat them though.

That brought tears to my eyes. She is a keeper!

TMI, but I need to know. So I'm 8 days post-op and started light bleeding. It is almost like the beginning of a period, but I'm not due for one for another 2 weeks. Then the part that really freaked me out is blood in my stool. It isn't a lot, but is definitely there.
I've had no problems in terms of energy, keeping liquids and food down (egg, cheese, other soft Proteins - I'm definitely on one of the less strict diets in terms of being able to eat soft foods post op 6 days. I was sent home with those blood thinner shots and just took my last one this morning.
I have of course called my dr. and am laying here ( self-prescribed bed rest) waiting to hear back.
The only thing I can think of was overdoing the walking at 5 days post-op when I walked costco for 2.5 hours (dumb I know). Since then my belly has felt a little crampy and I had some pain in my drain site when waking up and getting out of bed the next day.
Thoughts??? Did this happen to anyone else?

OMG, Eggface's Protein Shakes are awesome...definitely saving my butt! Best of luck, I feel awful for you.

6 days post-op, 90+degrees here in KC and was dying for a drink other than Water. So, I went to Sonic and ordered myself a special treat -
Medium Diet Cherry Flavored Limeade (w/lime juice and cherries) MADE WITH WATER (not pop) and it is soooooo yummy - gotta love the ice too! Here are the totals:
Calories = 14
Carbs = 3
Sugar = 1
Sodium = 6
I just went to their online site and you can configure your drink however and it automatically pops up your totals.
PS Make sure you say DIET cherry because the regular cherry flavoring has way too many carbs/sugars.

I'm 5 days post-op and actually just got off the phone with my nut. (protein shake question) but I felt SOOOOOOOO much better after talking with her. So, I would suggest calling your nut., tell them what you did, and then go from there. I'm learning how different post-op diets are and realizing I definitely have a much less strict diet. At day 7 I can start soft Proteins and don't have to puree anything (still might though). "Your mouth is your blender," my nut. said to me. Maybe the crackers weren't the best idea, but I don't think you were doing anything crazy by having some cheese. That is a definite on my list of can haves starting 1 week post-op. By 8 weeks I'm free for everything. I think calling your nut. or even dr. (mine would never judge me) would give you some piece of mind about what you ate and whether or not it might mess up your staples and maybe even get the symptoms. I doubt it will be a problem, but I know piece of mind is a wonderful things, especially with this new ad venture.
Although my postop plan is not the same as yours, I do still think we should all just follow dr./nut. orders.
Best of luck!

I too love mini-goals! Here is my blog link on OH and if you scroll down and look on the left side you can view my goals. Right now they are mostly based on weight but I think that will eventually change. I have a lot of mini-goals I guess in my list of NSV's on my blog. Good luck!

Foxgirl - how far out were you when you were able to eat a tortilla without problems AND does it have to be crunchy for you or can you do soft?
-
-
I think those might be the same ones Eggface uses...I'll check it out. I'm dying to get far enough out that I can make an enchilada filling and then crisp up a low carb tortilla to use as my chip...yum!!!!

Oh you guys, thank you. Feeling a bit better, just scared the heck out of me. I did soy Protein drinks just fine pre-op but think I'll be scared to try it again...definitely not in the near future. Hoping this last bit wears off so I can get some sleep tonight.
Quick ? Though...is it ok to be adding Peanut Butter (not that I'll ever want that again), sf pudding mix, sf Torini Syrup, sf mocha mix, etc. Or should I just stick to the nasty stuff of Water and Protein mix?

Ok, I'm having horrible cramps, diareha, nausia, and chills. I've felt perfect until now...4 days post op. about 45min. Ago I had a few sips of my first Protein Shake, which was 4oz Silk soy milk, 4 oz Water, 3 ice cubes, 1Tbs peanut creamy Peanut Butter, and one scoop of my Protein Powder. Kind of freaking out a bit!
-
Oh my, those few sips were the worst idea ever! I now have cold chills, terrible cramps, nose started running, and am freaking out. Is this what dumping syndrome is ?
-
If you havent already, check out this site and search for " tortilla pizzas.". I've not tried them yet since I'm only 4 days post-op but I'm with you on this one for sure!

Can I use soy milk 4 days post-post-op?
-
Is it ok to use soy milk this early out from surgery? I made a Peanut Butter shake tonight (from my new hero, Eggface) and used 1/2 Water and 1/2 Silk vanilla Soy...also called foe a Tbs of peanut butter. I took a few sips and nearly cried because of how good it was then thought maybe I should check here for more solid advise.

I'm 4 days post- op and was worried about Constipation only to discover I've had diarrhea since I got home. Uhhh???
-
Thanks all! It feels so good to finally be on the loser side!
-
Surgery went well, just got my cath. Out and once I can pee the iv and drain tube will come and I'll be heading home! I'm sure there will be plenty of not-so-fun things to come, but right now...no regrets and so happy this has finally happened. Now, to turn on the Faust and pee!
On morphine so forgive my cluttered and messy writig.

Thanks gilrs for your concern and sorry it has taken so long to get back on the site.
My new date is May 4th! I'm starting back on my liquid diet tomorrow. The morning of surgery (my original April 6 date) I got there, so excited and not even nervous, to discover that we had a major mix up (miscommunication on our part) and had to walk out without surgery. It was awful but after my 20min. of sulking I was ok and was actually the one holding it together for my husband because he felt so bad. By the end of that day however, everything was figured out and I'm ready to go...again. Strange thing is that although I'm still excited, I don't think I'll really be able to feel it fully until they are actually wheeling back for surgery! I'm pretty sure the worst part will be having to drink the magnesium citrate, expecially since I'm out of town on the 2nd and 3rd for a conference. That should be a fun road trip home from St. Louis...I did already warn my co-workers so they know what is coming. Folks, you will not want to be out on the highway between 4:30pm-7:00pm that day!
