    Surgery Date 11/22 Anyone Else?!?!

I am sitting here enjoying some yummy tomato juice. It is my wonderful supper. Actually, it is my saving grace through this liquid diet. Everything I have to drink/eat is sweet. So, I poured my juice in a glass and added some Morton Lite Salt. It is the perfect salt fix! I am so ready to have my surgery that I called my surgeon's office today to see if he could go ahead and get me in this week!! Unfortunately, I still have to wait until Monday. I'm sure the pre-op jitters will hit me on Sunday!

    Tomorrow is the big one!

How exciting! I am so happy for you. May you have the best of luck with the surgery and continued success once banded!
  3. Yes, I am already looking forward to the Mushy Stage! I am so ready for something besides the liquids I have been on for the past 7 days. My surgery is scheduled for 11/22 and I will be in the mushy stage the day after Thanksgiving. So, I may have to have a nibble of some good Thanksgiving dressing. Would that be an acceptable food? Does anyone know of some good recipes for the Mushy Stage or even some general food ideas for that stage? I have looked at the recipe area of the forum and those recipes look a bit outdated. Actually, I am not sure that I can even have some of those foods during the Mushy Stage.

    Pre-op liquid diet - weakness

Today starts day 7 of my pre-op diet. I promise that it gets easier. Extreme weakness hit me through day 3. After that, it seemed to go away. I did call my dietician and she suggested that I add one more Protein drink a day (I was on two a day). That helped out a lot. As others have said, it is difficult at first, but the hunger subsides. I have gotten so tired of eating (drinking) the same old stuff that I don't even care if I eat. As long as I get the Protein drinks in, I could care less if I have anything else. If you can have sugar free popsicles, try those. I can have as many as I want in a day. They have been a life saver in the evenings when I am watching TV! Hang in there!
  5. I'm being banded November 22nd and am on day 6 of the liquid pre-op diet. In my opinion, day 3 was the most difficult. My pre-op diet consists of Protein drinks, juice, broth, cottage cheese, yogurt, milk, sugar free popsicles, and Jello. I think every doctor is different. So, you may want to check with your doctor. Keep your head up and know YOU CAN DO THIS!!

    Surgery Date 11/22 Anyone Else?!?!

Best of wishes to you on your surgery Friday. You will do great!! Don't worry about the pain. I had laproscopic gallbladder surgery a few years ago and it was a walk in the park compared to the 3 C-Sections I had. You are so fortunate to not have to do the liquid diet. It is very difficult to fight off the temptation to eat something solid. Please keep me posted on how you do. I will be thinking about you!
