  1. I'm 1 week post op and my NUT says no bread, pasta, or rice for six months. Just was wondering what other NUT's guidelines were??
  2. I'm day 5 post op and paranoid about the leak issues. My doc says if it was going to happen it happens within two days if surgery. I have no symptoms just scared straight about the possibility. I'm actually having slight anxiety attacks over the fear. Help guys.. Just looking for encouragement to get through this nervous post op stage.
  3. Thanks for the kind word and true heart to heart about a leak. My surgeon is very very experienced so I'd put him in the less than 2% range. I'm 1 week post op now and feeling much better about the leak risk. I was panicked about a leak happening. I literally had panic attacks over it my first two days at home. I'm happy to say in healing well and continue to focus on positive thoughts about this.
  4. The NUT said its because it could get stuck.
  5. I'm day 6 post op and suddenly feeling hungry and burning pain in my stomach. Up until this point I have not felt this way and wasn't hungry. Is this normal? Any suggestions??

    Spasms

They do get better. I'm six days post op and they have almost gone away. Each day the intensity gets less and less also.

    Stomach Burning ? Normal?

My doc has me taking a protonic. Maybe I need Carafate also. I'm calling my doc Monday. I can't stand this burning feeling like I'm really hungry. This sucks on stage 1 clear foods. I feel weak enough and now this.
  8. I had horrible upper back spasms and right shoulder knots and pain. My doc told me when they work into the sternum during surgery it causes referred back pain for days and its a nerve issue coming from the sternum. Hang in there.. Mine got much better days later after being home and my sister gave me a nice back rub with icy hot. That really got it feeling much much better. Maybe someone can do that for u at home. Good luck.. It will get better.
  9. I'm five days post op and experiencing really bad chills when I sleep but no fever. Anyone else do this their first week?
  10. I proud to say my docs were giving me serious kuddos yesterday before my hospital discharge for the amount of liquids I was drinking. Today my urine is very light in color so I'm thinking I'm doing good with hydration. Thanks for all the posts.. The more of these I read and get advice from others the better I feel.
  11. I will be sleeved on 2/10. Just curious if anyone does these protein shakes or familiar with them?? My friend sells them and I hear they taste amazing. A bit expensive and was wondering about some opinions on here before I buy.

    Coffee

I'm going to be sleeved Monday and just had my pre-op and my doc said no restrictions on coffee or tea with caffeine. I can drink it day after surgery if I want. Not sure if I really will.. Kinda nervous about the coffee acid upsetting my new tummy.
  13. I'm very excited to be counting down to 2/10 when I have my lap band removed and sleeve done in one surgery. What are some favorite foods post op? Liquid stage, and mushy?

    Band Comes Out January 29th!

Glad to hear your doing really well. It's the count down for me. Pre op is Tuesday and surgery 2/10. Did you find out why you had to have a drain? Maybe Dr. Higa does them on all his sleeves? I'll have to find out if it's routine with him on Tuesday. I've had a drain before so if I get one no biggie I guess. I look forward to seeing your progress and I'll post as soon as I can after surgery. Cheers to you!!

    Band Comes Out January 29th!

Oh my gosh... I just got the chills. I'm thinking about you and I bet you are did great during surgery. You've got Dr. Higa girl and he's the bomb!! I tease him and call him The Rock Star of bariatric surgery. You could not have found a better surgeon. I have my surgery with him in 11 days. Please post when you feel better in a few days and let me know how things went and how you're feeling. I have no idea what to expect going from Lap Band to Sleeve. I'm nervous and excited. I'm sure you know how that is. Waiting in the hospital as I type. IV in and ready to go. See you all on the other side.

    Uncomfortable.. Gas, Under Ribcage.

I have the same type of under rib and sternum pain and pressure with upper stomach gas. So tired of pain and bloating. I'm happy to say after six years my band is being removed and a sleeve done on 2/14. My band the first three years was ok. Lost 140lbs basically by eating chicken and beef soup and exercising. Soups were the only way I could get real solid protein. Then years four through six have been hell with pain and weight gain. The band isn't a real solution in my opinion.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

My doc only has me on a liquid diet the day before surgery. I wonder why some docs make people do pre op liquids for weeks and some only one or two days?

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Yes I'm a Valentine Sleever. My date is 2/10/14. I had approval on 1/15.
  19. I just found out I'm having a sleeve revision in two weeks. Do you feel a difference with your appetite diminish? My band has been empty for two months and I really have felt my appetite increase lately. I think my tummy was swollen from the fluid and has since finally relaxed and my appetite is through the roof! Also, I getting really nervous after reading on the threads about heart burn, stomach spasms, and acid hunger pains post surgery. If someone could just answer some of these and help calm my butterflies. I'm very excited but super nervous.

    Stinkin Exclusion....

I was effective 1/1/14 with new BCBS and approved for surgery 1/14. Surgery date is 2/10. Not bad timing and no questions asked with my new individual plan. It went smooth as a babies butt.

    Stinkin Exclusion....

My policy through my employer also had an exclusion. I went outside of the employer plan and purchased an individual plan on my own through BCBS who covers Bariatric surgery without any problems. My monthly co pay was about $100 more a month but well worth it. Going this route I was able to not touch my 401k or take a high interest loan. In about six months when my company has open enrollment again and post surgery I'll jump back on their plan for lower rates.

    Band Comes Out January 29th!

Congratulations!! I too just got approved for my Lap revision with Dr.Higa. My surgery is Feb. 10th. I was super happy they got me scheduled so fast. You are in amazing hands with Doc Higa. He has been my doc for six years and consider yourself fortunate to have one of the world's best Bariatric surgeons to do your revision. I wouldn't let anyone else touch me. He has been a wonderful doc with the band and very sincere after gaining back 69lbs. He gets it that the band fails after the initial weight loss.
  25. I'm having a panniculectomy on Dec 3rd and still not sure about the tummy tuck at the same time. Has to do with costs... Do I need an unfill if I have just the panniculectomy done?
