  1. Hey everyone!! Hope you're all doing well! I am now 3-weeks postop and feeling great, but the scale shows I've gained 7lbs which I'm really upset about.

  2. Went back to the doctor last Wednesday for my 2-week Post Op visit and had lost 22lbs. I was very excited, but now that I'm eating real close to solid foods I got on the scale this morning and it was up 7lbs. I have been staying away from bread, starches and just eating veggies and a little fruit. I have also ate some beans and meat to get my protein in. I haven't even been getting 1,000 calories day in, which is much less than I was eating before. I'm just stumped and can't figure out what I've done wrong. A friend had it done about 2 months before me and she's already lost 70lbs. Please help me get on the right track, because apparently I'm not doing something right.
  3. Yes most all require a 6 month diet. Or they may accept your PCP or if you've been going to a Gym for the past 6 months. I started my process at the end of October 2010 and just had my surgery Jun 30th. I can honestly say it goes by very quickly. There are a lot of clearances you have to get before they will do the surgery too. Of course these were all things my insurance company demanded.
  4. Hey there!! I have Conventry Insurance. I started to see Dr. Brebia at Eden Hill Medical Center and was suppose to have surgery May 27th, however because Milford Memorial had not acquired their "Center of Excellence" I had to switch doctors and ended up going to Baltimore.
  5. I can't believe the day is finally here that I've been waiting for, for so long!!! My surgery is at 9:45 tomorrow at St. Agnes in Baltimore, we have to be there 2-hours ahead so that means we'll have to leave home around 5:30am. I live in Delaware, so its about a 2-hour drive, which isn't going to be fun. Trying to get my husband out of bed that earlier, really isn't going to be fun! LOL I started thinking back when I first started looking into the band, and it was around 2003. It's now 2011, and I'm finally making it happen!! I'm so excited, but so nervous at the same time! I just hope the pain isn't too bad, I'm a big baby when it comes to pain! Anyhow, please keep me in your prayers as I keep all others in mine.
  6. OMG, 2-weeks post op and I finally feel normal today. It has been a rough 2-weeks and hope this is just the beginning of me starting to feel much better!! Don't let anyone tell you, that you'll be recovered within days. Everyone is different and you won't know until you have your surgery!

  7. I had my band on June 30th and I have had a terrible time feeling nauseated. I don't throw up anything I drink, and was suppose to do 2-weeks of liquid after the surgery, but yesterday decided to scramble some eggs, which I kept down. I am so tired of feeling sick to my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this??
  8. Thanks everyone!! My doctor's appointment is tomorrow, so hopefully I'll at least know nothing major is wrong.
  9. I made it through surgery and the doctor said I did fine and everything went smoothly. I don't think I had prepared myself with the amount of pain I would be in afterwards, but each day is easier. They didn't release us until about 9:30 Thursday night and with a 2-hour ride home, it was a rough day. Was even rougher when the pharmacy wouldn't fill my RX because the doctor that wrote it was a residence of the hospital who had just graduated and can only prescribe in the hospital. Needless to say, Friday morning when everything had wore off I was hurting terribly. Thank God my husband was on a war path and was able to get me some pain meds before noon, which have helped. Hope you're all doing great and I can't wait to start seeing the changes!!
  10. Thanks All! Today has been the least of pain, but when I try to stand or sit it's real bad on the left side. I'm assuming that's where the port is. Continued success everyone!!
  11. Well I made it through!! In quite bit of pain, but each day has gotten a little more barable.

  12. Thanks so much to everyone!!! This site is great for encouragement and support!! For those that are close to your date, best of luck to you! To those who still have a ways to go, just remember we've all been in your shoes and totally understand what its like to wait and wait. In fact, I was suppose to have surgery on May 27th and got a call the week before that said the insurance company denied it. To make a long story short, I had to change doctors and now having my surgery in Baltimore. But in the long run, I'm sure God knows best and that's the way I accepted it. To those who have already been banded, continued success to you!! I'm sure I'll be back on over the weekend, so I'll let you know how things go!! Thanks a bunch for your support and God Speed to you all!
  13. Finally, Surgery is Thursday, June 30th and making a list of everything I need to make sure I have on hand at home. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!! 1. Gas X 2. Protein shakes 3. Jello 4. broth 5. Ice Pops 6. Low Fat Yogurt (Can't do the Greek, I've tried it and it just won't go down) 3. Pain Meds 4. Movies
  14. I know, its probably going to hit me hardest tonight. We'll be just fine!! Best of luck to you!
  15. That's great news, so happy for you!! Best of luck! Let me know when your date is. I'll be back online over the weekend I'm sure and give you an update!
  16. Can't wait, Thursday June 30th is finally the day my life will change!!

  17. Finally, got official approval and the surgery has been rescheduled for Thursday, June 30th in Baltimore!! Not excited about having to drive 2-hours for the surgery, but at least its going to happen this time.
  18. Sorry, it only let me type so much. Anyhow, this doctor isn't as friendly as Brebbia, but he is the leading surgeon at St. Agnes for Lap Band. he also doesn't require his female patients to do any sort of pre-diet. He says men have too, but not ladies. Men have a lot more fatty tissue around their Liver and Stomach. I'm happy with that, but will probably do a few days of it just to ...

  19. Hey samnic's, how are you?? I went to the doctor in Balitmore and as I expected, God had this planned. Come to find out Dr. Brebbia should have had me on Nexium because of the Ulcers that were found. This doctor told me to get my RX filled right away and take two per day. I'm being told it will help heal them, but major complications could have happened. Won't know a date until ins approves.

  20. Jonna

    Can you please help me?

    Voted! Good Luck!
  21. The insurance company denied Milford, because they do not have their Center of Excellence. However, they just don't have their ID number yet, so we're hoping with a letter the insurance company will allow it.
  22. At 4:30 yesterday afternoon, my cell phone was going off. It was my Doctor's office telling me that my surgery has been denied!! I say WHAT?? How is that possible? Apparently, the hospital where I'm having the surgery has not acquired their Center Of Excellence as the surgeon's office said they would by the time I had my surgery. I was in complete disbelief and really didn't say a whole lot, I felt the girl at the doctor's office was just like "oh well, there's nothing we can do to help you. Let me know where you want your records sent". I went home and talked to my husband, who reminded me that 2 different people said that the hospital had acquired the COE and then I did remember that. Needless to say this morning, I was on the phone with the Hospital Administration office and the Office Manager for the Surgeon. We'll see what happens now, but I also know that God has my plan for me and I'm going to let him lead the way!!
  23. Thanks everyone!! Still working on this, waiting for the doctors office to see if they can get any sort of documentation that shows the hospital has acquired the COE and just waiting for their ID number. I'm giving it till the end of the day, but in the mean time I have made an appt in Baltimore. I will have to go to one of their seminars before they will schedule and appt with the surgeon and I've also contacted Christiana Bariatric, so either way I'm confident I will succeed in getting a new surgery date!!! I went to church yesterday and the pastor said that he had to go to Baltimore today to see a 26 yo girl that needed a double lung transplant, my wanting to have an elective surgery is nothing compared to what some are going through!! I prayed all day for that young lady and hope God will touch her with his healing hands!!
  24. My doctor has suggested I eat a Protein bar if I start to feel real hungry during my 10day pre diet, which I start on May 18th. Can anyone suggest which are the best? Also, I'm losing my excitement I guess because its been such a long waiting game. Has anyone else gone through that? Thanks everyone!
