  1. I know what you mean, but I can honestly say now I know when I am full and satisfied. I love having the band, because it really makes you pay attention to how much you're eating. I don't have a lot of restriction right now, because I haven't got my first fill yet but still know when I am full. Before I got the band, I could go to Chilis and a bunch of their chips and then eat an entire chicken Caesar salad. Now, I still eat some chips but my friend and I split the salad and I can only eat 1/2 of the 1/2. I used to be able to eat an entire salad, baked potato, steak and bread. Now I have to decide what I want more. Now I eat a 1/4 to 1/2 of the steak, a small salad and 1/2 piece of bread. The potato doesn't even make it on the plate. Best of Luck to you!!

    It's my day!!

Good Luck newest bandster!! You are going to be so happy you've done this. This Thursday I will be 6 weeks post-op and am so glad I went through it. The first couple of weeks were really rough for me, but I just told a friend the other day I feel better than I have in 2-years.
  3. My surgeon didn't require a pre-op liquid diet, but made me do a 10day one after surgery. He said he requires men to do the pre-op liquid because they have a lot more fatty tissue around the liver than women do.
  4. Are you drinking your water? Maybe in between try either water or crystal light, that helped me during those hungry stages. I personally didn't really start getting hungry until after about a week, then I found myself dying for something to chew!
  5. Can anyone tell me a good website to be able to keep track of my food I'm eating that will count the calories?? I thought I could access one here, but am having a hard time finding it.
  6. I am 5-weeks Post-op today and I really haven't lost but about 5lbs, I am watching what I eat and my calorie intake. I go back August 17th for my first fill and so afraid they will be upset with me not losing anymore than I have. I did start exercising about 2-weeks ago, going to the gym 4x per week. Is this normal not to lose a whole lot of weight until you get a fill? I have no problem eating just about anything, but do notice I can't eat as much as I used too.
  7. Thanks everyone! I guess I should clarify, since I've been on solid foods I've only lost 2lbs. In reality since the liquid diet and surgery I've lost over 20lbs. I was just hoping once the solid foods came in the picture I would still be losing more weight. Guess that's probably asking for too much.

    Scared

We were all scared and that is absolutely normal. I was banded June 30th and even though I've only lost about 5lbs since surgery, I feel better than I have in 2years. Best of Luck to you!!

    Last Supper

I also had steak that my husband made!! I had surgery June 30th and had steak again a few days ago and didn't have any problems, but I don't go for my first fill until Aug 17th. I'm sure I won't be able to after that! Good Luck to you!

    Post Op

I burped and burped and burped, not to mention the gas. Are you back at work?? You really should try to rest more, or it will take longer to recover. Yes, you will feel some pressure in your stomach, in fact some pain. I was very sick for 2-weeks after surgery with nausea, but feel great now. I don't feel any different in my stomach than I did before surgery, so yes the pain and discomfort will go away.

    Salad Days?

I am 4-weeks out and have started eating salad. I have no problem at all, however I have not got my first fill yet. I also cut up cucumbers and tomatoes with a little dressing, when I don't feel like the lettuce and other things in a salad.
  13. We all went through the same emotions you are!! You will be just fine! I had a rough first couple of weeks, but feeling great now. It's really nice when people that haven't seen you in a while, say wow you look wonderful!! Best of LUCK!!
  14. I had to wait 2-weeks before swimming, once the incisions have healed. The doctor removed my butterfly tape on my 2-week post-op visit and said I could resume swimming. Good luck!

    3rd day post op

My 3rd day post op is when I really starting feeling worse than better. I had really bad gas, but kept Gas x near by and took it as much as the package said I could. My biggest problem was nausea, which lasted for almost 2-weeks. Best of Luck to you!

Leslie Sansone "Walk Away The Pounds"

My Curves group do these walks 3x a week, they really are awesome. I just haven't been able to get much past 2 miles yet, but I will soon>
  17. The first time you drink a soda, I guarantee you won't ever do it again. I drank Sprite about 4 days after surgery and thought I was going to die, needless to say I haven't touched anything with carbonation since. I haven't had my first fill yet, and know once I do I won't be able to eat nearly the things I do now like salad, cucumbers, etc. If you chew gum and you swallow it by accident, it could cause you lots of problems because it won't be able to go through the opening of the stomach. I have heard that sometimes it requires them to go down and get it out. Good Luck with your adventure!
  18. Whoo Hoo!!! Congrats, Shirley much continued success to you!! I just hope I really start seeing some progress after my first fill, which isn't until August 17th.

    New from Delaware

Hey there, I also live in Delaware! Welcome, you will find the forum very helpful and inspirational in your journey. My seminar was October 2010 and my first dr appointment was in November. Because of insurance requirements and due to the hospital not acquiring their "Center of Excellence" in time for my first surgery date of May 27th, I finally had my surgery done June 30th, 2011. Hope your process goes well, it really does go very fast. Just have friends and family around to support you! Best of luck!

    Much relieved!

Best of Luck to you!! It took me 2-weeks to finally recover, I suffered from a lot of nausea and felt like crap until the 2-week mark. Others haven't had this problem, so hopefully you won't either. I also had to suffer the first 20-hours after they released me from the hospital with NO pain meds. The doctor that wrote the RX was a med student was not authorized to right pain meds outside the hospital, needless to say my doctor was not happy because he ended up having to go through a special 800 number and the DEA to get me an RX because I'm 2-hours away from him. It was not fun, but made it through and just thankful its all good now. Good luck!
  21. Hey my bandster friends!! Hope you are all doing well! I am now 3-weeks post-op and feeling really good. I really think I probably need a fill, but my primary physician told me to be patient and just let the surgeon decide when I need a fill. She said since I was so sick to my stomach afterwards, I need to let it take its course. I have a friend that asked me this week if I still had regrets and I was able to finally say "NO"! The first couple of weeks, I really wondered though!

  22. Best of Luck to you! I was banded June 30th and it took me a full 2-weeks to feel normal. I had a lot of nausea, which was horrible and made me regret my decision. Now that I'm feeling much better, the regret has also past.

    Introducing Myself

Welcome and best of luck with your journey!! You will find this forum very encouraging and inspirational!!
  24. I have not problem with anything I'm eating. I am watching what I eat, but I can eat a good cup to cup 1/2 of anything I eat at one sitting. Is this normal? The scales are moving in the wrong direction and I'm only 3-weeks post-op!!
