    I'm a mess...help!

You are not alon I was only banded on Friday morning and discharged Saturday at noon but yesterday I was still just awful. IDK how some people say they are up and atem after a couple of days! I have been an emotional mess. I cried so hard the other night that I thought I would hyperventilate. I have felt just terrible until this morning! Don't get me wrong, I couldn't and wouldn't be able to work today but I'm starting to feel like a sore human being instead of a hot mess. I was in horrible pain until today (from gas, horrible pain in legs??, emotionally, etc.) They scanned my legs yesterday to rule out blood clots. I have had 4 other surgiers in my life (three of which involved the abdomin) and I would say that this is the second worse I have felt post op. The worst was my first C section. I did not expect to feel this poorly. I now know that every single surgery is different. I look at it this way...some people go in for a routine procedure and don't wake up. So, there is a huge range between feeling GREAT afterwards and not surviving at all. We just didn't fall close to the GREAT part of the scale. Hang in there... OH, and I would absolutely call doc just in case anything is wrong like the dry lips being a sign of dehydration. Hugs!

    Banded 2-9-11

Hi All, Looks like I found a good thread... I was banded on 2/11/11 and I'm up right now with bad gas pain. My surgeon keeps his patients overnight (I honestly don't know how some of you left the same day...I'm not worthy). We have to drink the barium the next moring to check for leaks, eat some of a liquid meal and then we are discharged. The gas pain is really bad. It puts pressure on the stomach and therefore, the incisions. My belly looks so distended also due to the gas. I did walk in hospital and I was literally passing my house for hours today. I just woke up from a tyl/codeine induced coma and I noticed that my hips, legs, neck and one arm hurt and/or had pins/needles. Wth? I'm up at this ungodly hour searching the boards for the hips problem. Age: 46.5 yr old female FYI: There is a February bander sub forum on this site. Scroll down the forum list, click on 2011 bandsters and then on the february 2011 to find a lot of us being banded this month. P

    I'm still standing...

...barely... I'm banded now but not up to much of anything. This is day two and I'm still hurting although MUCH better than the first 36 hrs. I didn't realize it would be this rough and yes, I've had several surgeries in my life... I'm also 46 yrs old now and overweight so perhaps that made this worse than I thought.... Or probably it is that we just don't remember pain after it is all gone. This too shall pass... Thanks.
  5. Hey! You were banded and we weren't able to wish you well (site probs). I hope your surgery went well and we will be looking forward to your report when you feel up to it!
  6. I'm getting nervous and found myself choked up today. I am just worried about the surgery. I'm excited about the lapband being done and to begin the next phase. I'm getting the surgery at 7:30 tomorrow morning so I have to be at the hospital at 6:15. I have to go alone because my husband has to get the kids off to school and I haven't told them anything. My youngest leaves at 7:15 so I don't know if I will get to see him before surgery. I will log in over the weekend and give my surgery report.
  7. Good luck to us all!!
  8. not a creature was stirring except me and my mouse. I have to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 6:15. Thankfully it is a five minute ride from my house. Surgery is scheduled for 7:30 and I am the first of the day so I guess my surgery should be on time. I've heard that I am lucky to be the first of the day...less starvation time! lol I plan on being very good and dedicated. I sure hope I look and feel better come this summer! I'll be back with my surgery update in a few days... Thanks for your support.

Day 2 of my new life...

I got samples from a local store and so far I like the ISOFLEX chocolate PB and Chocolate Mint. It surprised me because I thought I'd be a vanilla gal. I also tried Vanilla from Dymatize 100. In fact, I bought it but it is still sealed. I think I might exchange it for some of the ISOFLEX ones. I also tried unjury vanilla, UNJURY chicken Soup. I was shocked that the chicken soup wasn't bad. It was a nice break from sweets, sweets, sweets. I tried some orange kind that was NAUSEATING. Literally made me want to vomit. NEVER AGAIN. My thoughts on day two of this pre op diet is...hmmm, I thought Protein was supposed to make you not hungry? Ummmm...notsomuch. I feel hungry and unfulfilled. I remember someone saying get through 3 days and you will be fine and no longer hungry. I'm only one day two so I will reserve my judgement. All that being said, I WILL NOT cheat. I know it is too important to do what the doc/nut tells me to. I won't go through surgery and only commit half-a##ed. I can't wait until surgery day and the rest of my life!!

Day 2 of my new life...

    How are you feeling Loozer2B?
  14. Well, today's appt was very good. In fact, I brought a little index card with questions and he answered them all. He's a very nice surgeon and makes you feel very comfortable. Another vgt is that I have lost 5lbs since my one week pre-op diet began. So, that's five less I have to worry about! I find myself getting very cranky being on a strict diet. I miss the bad foods, I guess. I think I am also getting some carb detox headaches. I believe that I am addicted to food so that is what I am referring to. I haven't exercised yet but I'd like to start doing something soon. I just haven't been up to it yet!

    Procedure may be Rescheduled

Elle, I'm so mad FOR YOU! I can't believe there was a mistake made like that. Can't they just call BCBS and have the doctor switched on the pre-cert? I mean, they approved the surgery...why so long to switch the doc?! Please do stay with us even if you do end up a March bandster. Hang in there!

Day 2 of my new life...

I'll tell you what's not American... watching the Super Bowl while sipping on a Protein drink. WTH?! I envy those who can indulge a little and never binge. I am doing this surgery to break my binge habit. Damn, I just wrote a long paragraph and it disappeared. Why does that happen?

    Procedure may be Rescheduled

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! I cannot imagine having to wait any longer when you have something in your mind! I hope you don't get bumped and if you do, I hope it isn't too much longer. I hear you on the cranky. I am VERY cranky with headaches with the pre-op diet so far. Ugh...

    Banded on Feb 1st

Congratulations on your new life! I'm glad your recovery wasn't too bad. I'm ready for mushies already myself and I've only been on pre-op for three days!

    Good luck tomorrow to...

Hey! I wish you well tomorrow. I look forward to hearing all about it when you are up to it! GOOD LUCK!!!
  23. I appreciate everyone's comments regarding protein drinks. I think I will try out the premier at costco. The nerves are setting in now...

Insomnia last night. I'm 11 days before surgery. I wrote an entire blog about this only to have it disappear. UGH... Basically I am worried about surviving this life change emotionally. I don't know what I will feel like when I am not impulsively eating. I need to come up with things to do that are positive. I was thinking about setting up a movie night with dh. We presently do our date nights at restaurants and I don't see that being a fun option for me anymore. I'm worried that I will lose weight and still feel like crap. I worry that I will have a horrendous looking tummy after I lose the weight. I worry that my pants still won't fit right. I worry about surviving the surgery at all. Sigh...
  25. According to the roll call list, we have three 2/11 banders going into surgery tomorrow. Let me be the first to wish the following people good luck... 2/02/11-ManningFan 2/02/11-TylerAshton567 2/02/11-Shawnypoo If I've missed anyone, I apologize. Thanks to all who have been helping me keep the list accurate. We will all be looking forward to your surgery reports!
